Warmer, 50°. Cloudy. Merrill went to bank and store. He cleaned church. He got Birthday cards from Don and Vern’s. Also letter. Vern’s State IA Conference starts in Syracuse. He is president of it. I called Lucy Neville.

Merrill spent his 75th birthday cutting wood. He got more cards and calls. Stanley Party UMW at Aunt Maude’s. I didn’t go. June and Dan go to Syracuse IA Conference for rest of week with Vern. Made cookies

Merrill went to dump and to Antwerp for stove pipe. Snowed all day. Merrill, Marge, Bill Burns and helpers moved church organ to lower floor. Had to remove front seats. Merrill got card and note from Gehm’s.

We went to Sunday School and church, 104 out. Several children baptized. Haggerty girl, 3 Halls, 2 Woods, 1 Demon, and Jolie Carpenter. Organ sounds nice on lower floor. Sunny. Cold wind, 45°. Jim’s here for supper. Left kids here in PM while they went to Mills to get income tax done.

Storms all up the Eastern seaboard. Merrill went for groceries. I wrote Vern’s. Talked with Audrey. Patty won a 19 inch color TV. A drawing from bowling association. Terrible tornadoes in Carolina’s.

Clinic: Merrill’s blood pressure 136/83. Mine is 150/96, blood count 13. Merrill washed car. He went over to church to meet lady from State Road Department. State to take 1/6th acre of church property. Pay $300.00, and replace any damage.

UMW at parsonage. Freda and I on refreshments, gingerbread, 11 there. We finished cleaning dining room. Merrill took car to Walt Fikes for wheel bearing, $40. We went for groceries in PM. Aunt Maude gave Merrill Uncle Ray’s jackknife.

Dr. Scanlon, 10:15, all okay. Got push button phone and wire for second phone. Got element for hot water heater, $11.00. We saw Art and Doris, Terry, Pat and Dianne. Also Albert Payne. I renewed money market certificate at Marine Midland at Mills. PNG District meeting at Philadelphia. I didn’t go. 20 there.

We went to Sunday School and church, 72 out. Vern’s came for church. Here for lunch. June brought vegetable soup. Steve went back to college with John S. Vern’s left about 3:30. Called Jim’s. Jill had the flu.

Washed living room draperies. Merrill went to town barn to see about getting truck for Sunday School papers. They will help next week. Merrill and Wayne Huntress sprayed hornets at church in evening.

Merrill’s church appointment with Giles at Mills. Okay to sign Bill of Sale. He got hair cut at Antwerp, $3.00. We cleaned side porch and laundry room. Cloudy. Friday the 13th. Downstairs has all been cleaned.

We went to Sunday School 58 out, and church had 121. Cantata. Just beautiful. 64 at covered dish dinner after church. We didn’t stay. Jim’s here for supper. Jolie didn’t come out. Art said Garmon Roggie is in Lowville hospital from heart attack.

They loaded papers for Sunday School drive at 3:30 PM. Used town truck. We went for groceries. Merrill took chain saw to Mills for gas line. I washed upstairs bedding. Howard called in evening. Art Hall, 85 is moving into Manor soon.

June and Dan stopped in one way after Steve. Had small trailer. Merrill finished cutting last of logs. Cleaned up sawdust. I made pies. Washed blue dress and slacks. Maundy Thursday service in Philadelphia. We went, had 43 there.

Sunny. A beautiful Easter day. No Sunday School. We went to church, 128 there. Vern’s and Jim’s and Audrey came about 1 PM for dinner. Gail didn’t come. She is in Virginia Beach with her folks. Steve took 20 pictures. Jim’s back real bad.

Vern’s left for Potsdam with Steve at 1 PM. Men put new heating element in water heater. I washed tablecloths and towels. Raining. Got Easter card and letter from Uncle Berl. He has lived in California for 31 years today.

Still raining. Sent note to Vernon and cards to Uncle Len and Gehm’s. (50th anniversary on Saturday. They couldn’t load papers because of rain. June R. here in evening. She started milking at night for Burns last night. 3rd milking. Merrill has a cold.

Uncle Len Haggerty’s 90th birthday. Men took 2nd load of papers to Carthage, 4 ton. Rained all forenoon. Wrote Uncle Berl. Rebekah’s. Leah came after me and brought me home. Only 6 out. Seery’s had chimney fire.

Mr. Gleason called Merrill about church policy. New 3 year policy this year will be $1825 or so. A great sunny day. Raked on lawns. Fire alarm at Manor went off 2nd time. No fire. We worked outside all day. Cut brush and tree limbs.

Arbor Day. Another great summer day. 70’s. We worked on lawns etc. Merrill took down storm windows. We put out lawn furniture. Merrill put up a swing. Bonfire got out of control, but we got it out. Our spruce trees have a disease. I called Cooperative Extension and Cons State man (?). Joey brought me wild flowers.

Don and Bea Gehm’s 50th anniversary. Another great day. Windy but warm. Thunder storm in PM. Washed clothes. Made brownies. Merrill cleaned floors. New phone electronic system goes into effect today and tomorrow. Jim and Explorers at Autorama.

June R. here when we got home. We went to Sunday School and church, 50 out. A beautiful summer day. We went out to Don’s in PM. Had supper with them. Stopped to see Roy on way home. Doris said Garmon got out of hospital Friday. 2nd day of Autorama.

UMW District meeting at Beaver Falls UM Church. I didn’t go. We went for groceries and to bank. Asked to have our Social Security checks mailed to Philadelphia bank. Merrill mowed lawn for first time this year. Got letter from June.

A beautiful day. In the 70’s. We went to city for patio lumber at Grossman’s. Got $126.33 worth. Got garden hose and eye drops, $9.32 now. I called Extension office about spruce trees. Said it was wind burn.

Raining. New York State man called about spruce trees. Said same thing as Cooperative extension man said. Winter dehydration, warm wind, frozen roots. Can’t get enough moisture. Sent Jim and Pat anniversary card and note. Got letter and pictures from June. Very good.

Merrill started work on patio. Audrey called. Jim’s back seems better. Cold all day and rainy by spells. Rebekah’s, 6 out. We went for groceries. I made cheese cake for banquet.
