Got home at 2:00 AM from Bill & Vi’s. Beautiful day, 42°. Lazy day

We went to church. Art Miles, Jack Tousley in charge of service. Took down Christmas decorations. Snowed, but no snow on ground.

Took out tree. We started cleaning store room. Very icy in morning. No school because of ice. Merrill went to lodge. First in ages.

W.S.C.S. at Vivian Myers. 17 of us there. We worked up stairs. Merrill tore off paper in storeroom. Cleaned.

Jim goes to England. Talked with Ethel Tousley. We went to Ken’s for beef. 100 lb @ 50¢. They had it wrapped. Mom & Don’s were at Ken’s. Party for Ken’s birthday. Wrote Pearl Pitt. Got letter from Uncle Berle & Vern’s. Steven had tonsillitis over New Years.

Home Demonstration at Alice’s canceled because of ice. Made doughnuts. Jim arrived at new base at Alconbury, England.

Sent check to Readers Digest, for Christmas gifts. Snowing. Got letter from Beulah Hall. Wrote Dot & sent her pictures. Merrill tore out chimney in storeroom.

Cold. Merrill put tile ceiling on storeroom. Baked. Washed.

Evelyn & Howard have baby girl, 7 pounds, 2 ounces, Dawn Taryn. 12° below zero last night. We went to church. Rev. Oot in charge. Rev. Hutchinson was baptizing his grandchild in state of Washington. I went to show with Vi & Laura, Music Man. Called kids.

Merrill & I went to city. Got paint & rug for storeroom. Got car license. Licenses are blue & gold now. Car license is 5P3042. I went to 4-H at Norma’s in evening.

Got first letter from Jim from England. He had good trip over. Baked pies. Sent 2 over to Hall’s. Merrill took tractor apart. Had oil leak. Cold. Washed my hair.

Wrote Jim & Vern’s. 10° below zero when we got up. Millicent & I went out to see Evelyn. She will come home tomorrow. I went to lodge. Carthage lodge present to receive scroll. Covered dish supper but I just went for the meeting.

Got letter from Dot. She is in the hospital. Millicent Hale & I went out after Evelyn & Dawn Taryn. She is a darling. Spent most of PM at Evelyn’s. School vote on building fund.

Cleaned storeroom. Baked donuts, cookies, cakes, & pie. Martha Pitt’s husband Allen died in Gouverneur hospital tonight.

Merrill & I papered back storeroom. Got hair brush from Fuller brush man, $5.60. Took Evelyn over donuts & kitchen curtains. 10° below in evening. ”

Snowed hard during night & all day. Canceled church. Lazy day. Blackie is sick.

4-H at Susan Payne’s. I didn’t go. Men got shower hooked up & working. Vern, June, Steven, & I went to city to exchange shower faucets. Got parking ticket, $3.00.

Kids left for home today. Went over to see Dawn Hall before they left. Blackie our cat is real sick. Blackie died in evening.

Wrote Jim. 32° below at 8 AM. I didn’t go to Rebekahs. Merrill ordered plywood for bathroom. Sent in $3.00 for Vern’s parking ticket.

20° below in morning. We went to city for groceries. Went to Weston’s. Snowed terrible on way home.

Briggs brought plywood for bath. Still very cold. Did my hair in evening. Sent taxes, $221.48.

Baked bread & cookies. Merrill worked at bath floor. Nice day but still cold. Cleaned in evening.

Very stormy all over eastern states. We didn’t get to church. They had a covered dish dinner after church for Rev. Hutchinson’s birthday.

Terrible stormy all over New York State & eastern states. 3 feet of snow in Oswego. Merrill opened driveways. Plow went by in PM. No milk truck or mail.

W.S.C.S. but I didn’t go. Roads not very good. Rev. Hutchinson’s birthday. Called Verns. They have 101 inches of snow. Ran out of fuel oil. Called Mom in evening. Are OK out there.

Beautiful day. Called kids. They got road open last night. Man brought fuel oil at midnight for them. Wrote Dot Talcott. Cut my hair.

Had Home Demonstration here. 5 present. I taught bread lesson I. Merrill worked at bath.

Beautiful day. 34°. Made cherry pies. Joanne & Stanley Preston had baby girl born this morning, Deborah Louise.

Billy Mattingly & Linda Goodenough married today in Philadelphia church. We went to city & got tile & counter top at Tile One store for bathroom. Baked in evening. Wrote Jim. Beautiful day.

20º below early in morning. We went to church. Got things ready for jury duty tomorrow. Washed my hair.

First time Jury duty-Supreme court. Was out there all day. Eva Washer went with me. Got home at 5:00 PM. Sent Jim first package to England. Candy & cookies. Lola Stanley, in Michigan, died. Funeral Wednesday.

Merrill worked at bathroom. Ruth Eggleston here for her dish cover. Got letter from Dot T. Jim Matteson here in evening.

Jury duty at 10:00 AM. Got home at 5:30. Excused until Monday. I went to lodge. Merrill got top on wash basin. Sent Jim Valentine.

Very warm. We got new wash basin installed & usable. I went to P&C for groceries. Got new brown pumps, $6.99.

Beautiful day. Merrill worked at bathroom cupboard. Sent Stevie Valentine. We got one from him. I have headache.

Milk meeting. Merrill went. Got 2 1/2 pound cheese. I went to Antwerp for Teddy’s license. Swell day.

We went to church. Rainy, snowy, with sleet. 30°. Boy Scout Sunday. Lazy day. Wrote Jim. Mom called in evening.

Sent income tax. Paid $81.20 SST. Jury duty at 10:00 AM. Wrote Jim. Got excused at 11 :00 AM. I went over to Evelyn’s in PM. Dawn is sick. Merrill worked at bath. Joe Hack was here for coffee.

Jury duty, 10:00-1 :00. We stopped at Mrs. Washer’s father’s at Hilltop Towers. Nice day.

Mother Tryon’s 77th birthday. Jury duty, 10:00-4:00. Got called on a case. Stormy. Slippery. Talked with Evelyn. Dawn is much better.

Jury duty, 10:00-5:00. Very stormy in city. Very icy to Evans Mills. Got letter from Jim & Vern’s. Steven has been sick again with tonsillitis.

Jury duty, 10:00-11 :00. Stopped at Olga. Gave Fran her pillows I made her. Got groceries. Called Mom. We went over to Hall’s in evening.

Quarterly conference. We went. About 25-30 out. Merrill is trustee for 3 years. I’m chairman of the Membership & Evangelism Committee. Ironed & cleaned. No mail today.

Got letter from Mother Tryon. Rebekahs. I went. Merrill washed car at Matt’s. Jury duty 10:00-3:45. Merrill saw Kenny & Brenda. Kenny works at Air Brake now. Joan is getting married again.

Home Demonstration at Laura’s on floor care. I couldn’t go. Jury duty 10:00-4:30. Tired tonight.
