New Year’s Day. We didn’t do anything special. Had baked ham & dressing for dinner.

We all went to church. Nice day. Did ironing. Talked with Lois W.

Nice but cold. Mrs. Hagan called. Took calf to sale. Got new dress & cloth (plaid) for dress. Made dress in evening. Merrill went to Lodge. Sent income tax return.

W.S.C.S. meeting at Carrie Dunn’s. Good turn out. Merrill made swell book case. Lumber cost $5.00. Took out Xmas tree & decorations.

Raining. Merrill & I worked over at church. went to Grange in evening.

Lodge practice. Very stormy. Finished plaid dress. Stormed so they didn’t have drill practice.

Leah called & said they were having drill practice. I went. Rainy & thawing. Varnished book case first coat. Vernon was sick & didn’t go to school.

Wrote Carl & Uncle Berle. Varnished book case again. Did baking.

We went out home for dinner. Took oysters. Called Marg. Roads are dry as in the summer.

Grand day. Just like spring. Hardly any snow & roads are dry as in the summer. Merrill, Jim & I went to city. Merrill got pants. I got new play shoes & hat. Got cloth for dress for Mom & cloth for pants for Jim. Merrill went to Lodge.

Wrote Juanita. They changed our phone over. Hear only Carl Kiechle’s ring now. Our new number is 8511. Got insurance policy for $2000. more insurance on furniture.

Rebekah’s. Tom, our horse is sick. Had veterinary from Carthage. I took the milk. Stopped at Emma’s for cradle roll things. Awfully cold last night. Helen & Carl have new car.

Home Bureau party in Grange Hall. We went. Had a good time. Snowing hard. Tom is a little better.

Wrote Mom & Dad. Hartford Kavanaugh’s auction. Cattle sold good. Merrill worked over at church. They have one side & one end on now. Nice day. Talked with Leah, Helen, Aunt Maude.

Awfully cold last night. Merrill got hair cut. Talked with Aunt Maude & Leah. Wrote Mrs. Brown for Lodge.

Icy this morning, but has rained all day. We didn’t go to church as Merrill didn’t get around in time. Talked with Helen.

Open installation at Odd Fellows. We all went. Washed clothes. Merrill sent for truck license. Helped butcher pigs at Carl’s. Jim & I also went over Boys got hair cuts.

Helen, Carl, Boys & Paul were here. Carl & Paul helped butcher beef. Leah, Myrtle & I went to Rebekah’s initiation at the Mills. Was swell. got letter from Gloria.

Terribly windy. I went to hostess tea at Aunt Maude’s for church. We went to Grange in evening. Boys went to Gene Autry picture. Got truck license but are wrong ones.

Rebekah drill practice. Sun shining but very cold. Talked with Mom. Mac Carey has had a shock. Kit Harrington’s funeral. Made Jim brown pants.

Very cold. Merrill, Jim, & I went up to Uncle Len’s with Peron Kiechle. No snow on ground.

Nice day. Talked with Beulah Hall. She asked me to go to Rebekah School of Instruction on January 25. Merrill & I went to Antwerp. Got 2 new records. Finished pants. Did baking.

Boys went to Sunday School. Boys & I went to church. We drove out to Adams in PM. They have received flag that was used in Loren’s burial service.

Very icy in morning. Raining & freezing. Gave myself Toni wave. Washed clothes & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge. His first meeting as RS to Vice Grand.

I went to Rebekah School of Instruction at city with Beulah Hall. Cold & icy. Saw Aunt Edna at city.

Still cold & icy. Snowing in evening. I went to Rebekah’s in evening. Merrill cut up part of beef. I have swell cold. Talked with Helen.

Nice day but still slippery. Jim has cold. Vern finished January tests today. Lodge practice in evening. Talked with Helen.

Appointment with Dr. McAshie at 12:00 noon for Vernon. No school today. We all went to city. Vern had to have all new glasses. Got new snow boots. Got letter from Mom.

Rebekah food sale. Very cold. Merrill went to sale at Oberton’s. Dick Pitkin was there. Got letter from Marg. Baked pies, cake, cookies. Alice & Cliff have baby girl. Martha Alice.

Quite cold. Boys went to Sunday School. Boys & I went to church. Merrill didn’t get chores done in time.

Snowing. Went to city after Vernon’s glasses. Washed & Ironed. Merrill went to Lodge.

All day W.S.C.S. meeting at Mrs. Whitfords. 19 there. Had a very nice time. Got our new phone list. Talked with Aunt Maude, Helen, & Beulah.

Electric light men are surveying new line. New telephone number is 8511. Dial phone went into effect at 7:00 AM but is wired up wrong. Telephone men were here at 6:30 PM & wired it right. Wrote Mom. We went to Grange.

Vern went to Boy Scouts. All day Home Bureau meeting at Adah Bacon’s. I didn’t go. Took meat over to locker. Rebekah drill practice in evening. I went. They took out old phone. Got letter from Mom. Sent card to Alice.

Snowed all day. Got letter from Mother Tryon. Talked with Aunt Maude. Worked on Mom’s dress.

Cold but nice. Went out home. Stopped at Adams. Carl is home on furlough before going to Japan.

Boys went to Sunday School. Boys & I went to church. Made party decorations for initiation night at Rebekah’s.

Very stormy. No school. Washed & ironed. Merrill went to Lodge in evening. Talked with Helen.

Rebekah drill practice. Sent letter & pictures to Mom. Grand day. Started cleaning upstairs.

Rebekah initiation. Nice night. Had 86 there. I got home at 2:30 AM. Took Leah home.

Went to city. Got curtain material for upstairs. Went over to Alice & Cliff’s to see Martha Alice. Got big Ward catalog.

Not feeling too peppy. Washed kitchen curtains. Made new shades for kitchen.

Very cold. Sent for supplies for World Day of Prayer. Kids sent Valentines. Went to Valentine Party at Allen’s.

Boys went to Sunday School. We all went to church. Raining & foggy.

Washed clothes & ironed. Boys got several Valentines. Merrill went to Lodge. Was on supper committee.

Rebekah’s card party. Zelda called & asked me to go to Mexico next Monday night. Sent card to Mother Tryon & letter to Mom.

Mother Tryon’s birthday. (60 years) Grand day. Snow about all gone. I went over to Fike’s to card party in PM. We went to Grange in evening. Boys went to show.

Clear & cold. went to Adams today. Took out birthday cake. Junior Harris was out there. Dickson’s bottled gas blew up.

Cleaned & waxed floors.Talked with Helen. She isn’t feeling so good. Grand day.

Anniversary party for Doris & Freddie at Aunt Maude’s. Had grand time.
