Easter Sunday. Went to Ellisburg for dinner. Stopped at Dad’s. Mother T is out to Beulah’s. Oren gave Vernon a box of candy. Grand day.

Rainy. Been in bed all day. Got new fire insurance. Letter from C.B.Cox. Called Dr. Reed but he is sick.

Feeling better. Dot was down in evening. Sent $16.00 to H. Gerow for insurance.

Raining hard. Merrill & Vernon went to Lorraine in evening. Vernon got new shoe rubbers. $1.00. Got his hair cut. Awful windy. Got apples from Wallace.

Snowing & windy. Lots colder. Got receipt from Gerow. Card from Mary S.Made cookies.

Sent letter to Marion. Also to Spiegel about coat & suit. Washed clothes. Cold but sunny.

Harwood’s birthday (8 years). Sent $5.00 toTimes. Vernon & Jimmy went up to Barkers to see “Sarge”. [Barker’s dog] Baked pies. Feel horrid.

Arlene & Evelyn were here. Merrill took off storm doors. Put on new car horn.

Put on screen doors. Washed clothes. Grand day. Got letter from Gloria. They have mumps. Took milk to spring tonight for first. Vernon planted flowers.

Wrote to Pauline. Got card from Marg. Edith, Dot & Evelyn were down. Got paper & paint for kitchen.

Got letter from Elmer. Mrs. Rawlings gave Vernon a white rabbit. Evelyn & Hettie were here. Real hot today.

President Roosevelt died at Warm Springs, Georgia at 3:35 PM. age 63. Got letter from Mom. Sent her one.

Sent letter for B gas. Painted living room floor. Listened to radio about President Roosevelt’s death. Vernon got out of school early.

President Roosevelt’s funeral at 4:00 PM. Went to Lacona in evening. Bought sewing machine. $7.00. Vernon got new pants. Jimmy got shirt & overalls.

President Roosevelt buried at Hyde Park. Beulah Baxter, Beverly, Marg were here for dinner. Roy & Marg for supper. Evelyn & Arlene here in PM also.

Still quite cold. Wrote to Aunt Mildred. We listened to President Truman’s first speech at 1:00 PM. Not bad.

Got sewing machine home. Oren & Oren Jr. brought it. Got card from Aunt Mildred. Don Moore is on Okinawa Island.

Washed clothes. Sent order to Sears. Letter to ration board. Went over home in evening. Ken is sick.

Snowing a little. Cold. Dot was down. Got suit & coat $39.96 from Spiegel. Sent letter to Elmer.

Sent letter to Gloria & Annie. Got letter from Marion. Got gas coupons. Watkins man was here.

Snowed about 3 inches. Baked pies & cookies. Merrill went to Lorraine in evening. Popped corn.

Made chocolate ice cream. Still quite cold. Jimmy & I have a cold.

Got 2 slips, girdle, & sewing machine needles. Evelyn was down. Washed clothes. Have terrible backache.

Wrote letter to Mom, card to Marg & sent for dress pattern. Went to Lacona & Mannsville. Dr. Reed sick so didn’t see him. Got feeder, 90¢. Raining.

San Francisco Conference starts. Still raining. Got letter from Angie.

Dot was down in PM. Was here for supper. Went over home in evening. Merrill & Don went to Ellisburg.Got letter form Mom. Sent card to Mother. Ken feeling better.

Edith is sick. Had doctor in the night. Snowing & cold. 4-5 inches by evening. Went to Lacona & saw Dr. Reed. Said I might have tumor starting. Got card from Mom. Started taking iron tablets.

About 7 inches snow this morning. Went up to see Edith in evening. She has jaundice. Merrill & Vernon went to Lorraine. Merrill got hair cut.

Went to Ellisburg. Had new gas pipe line put on 75 ¢. Stopped over home. Aunt Mildred’s & Aunt Myrtle were there. Also Eleanor & McEwen.

Wrote to Mom. Sent card to Marie. Made chocolate ice cream. Cleaned upstairs.
