Diary Entry for 4/3/1969

Sent letter to Freddie in Viet Nam. Wrote Mom. Started cleaning Jim’s room out for Gary Ashley. I went to city for groceries. Jim was here for supper. Got Easter card from Jim and Pat. Jim brought his wash. I shortened summer coat. I called Mom. Her burn is better. Joe Medina very ill. I saw Dorothy H also Tenny Hanson and Mike.

Good Friday. Merrill put bird house up. Merrill washed car. He got hair cut. Aunt Maude called about tractor. I washed clothes and curtains. Did ironing. Called Pat in evening about having her mother come for Easter. A grand day. 60°

Rained all night but warm. Wrote Dot Medina. Patty, her Matron of Honor Elaine Phillips, and daughter came out. I met them at the church. We went to parsonage also. They had lunch here. Jim and Gary P came out on cycles in the rain. I washed dining room curtains in morning.

Easter Sunday. We went to church. I didn’t get to cantata in AM or breakfast. Patty’s mother, sister Vicki, her brother Steven, Patty and Jim were here for 3 PM dinner. Her father called in evening. Very nice day. Frogs hollering tonight for first.

Rebekah’s District Meeting at Mills 6:30 PM. I went with Lois Ward. 60 present. Martha Pitts and Vondale Pike both nominated for DD. Martha won. Aunt Maude and I went to city in AM for groceries. Patty, Jim, and Gary here in PM. Pat and Jim here for supper. She sold her car, $250. Wesley came for it in evening.

School out at 3:30 until April 25. Rained hard all day. Cold in evening. Used new step for first. Jim and Pat used it first when they came for supper. They brought cups and plates for reception. June called in morning about shower plans. Don Gehm has doctor’s appointment 28th.

New Big M store opens at Philadelphia. White frost this morning. Also morning fog. Merrill cleaned Aunt Maude’s furnace. She gave him Uncle Ray’s caps. Cleaned and waxed floors. Man from Bisnett’s didn’t come. Jim and Pat had appointment with Dr. Roberts for blood test.
