Sent cards Got note from Vern’s. Florence Hogaboom real sick with cancer. I called Carl Scee. Vern’s got new car smashed, $800 damage. Made Christmas cookies. Rev. Bea Clark plans to be with Rev. Catherine Salisbury after Christmas.

Cold sunny day. Merrill shoveled driveway. Sent last of Christmas cards and notes. Made fudge. We made vegetable soup. Froze some. Darcy and Joey brought us their picture. Marty here in evening. Gave them candy to hang on tree.

Down to 22 below zero over night. Up to 10 above today. Wrapped gifts. Got bill for Robbins for furnace repairs this fall. $137.00. Stuart Haggerty and Lori Farrill married tonight at Philadelphia Methodist church.

Christmas Eve Service at Evans Mills. We didn’t go. Stormed all day. Had our tree in evening. Kevin and Jennifer Drake brought us basket of sweets. Vernon’s and Jim Myer’s leave for Florida tomorrow by train.

We went to Jim’s. Audrey went with us. A sunny day but cold. Below zero all day. A nice day together. I was sick all night and had the chills. We went to 9:30 church service for both churches held at Philadelphia. Only 29 out. Very cold.

Stormed all day but warmer. My arthritis bad today. Merrill went to bank and to Carthage to Gambles for electric starter for snow blower. Cost $109.54. Audrey called. Also Aunt Maude. Florence Hogaboom, 75, died of cancer.

Florence Hogaboom, 75 funeral in Oswego. Merrill got snow blower going and cleaned driveway. Gary helped. Sun out by spells. Blowing snow. Great in PM and evening. We went for groceries in PM. McCormick’s Restaurant at Clayton burned. One of owners, age 29, died in fire, Mr. Dee.

Dr. Scanlon at 10:15. pressure is 17 in each eye. Terrible stormy going and coming. Nice when we left. Had test on disk (?) that they used on me in Kingston in 1975. Dr. Pinkerton sent in Medicare claim, $25.00. Jane Pauley is off Today show. Had twins. boy and girl.

Sunny. No Sunday School. We went to church, 34 out. Called Vern’s. They got home on Schedule. Everything fine. Very cold in Florida. They said Florence Hogaboom died last Tuesday. Talked with Jim from Audrey’s. Made pizza.

We watched parades on TV. Lazy day. Snowed some. Clear in PM. Ponzi’s called. Her mother in hospital with pneumonia. Gladys Lamon called. Rev. Bea Clark told them Sunday she was to be moved to Philadelphia.

Warmer. Cloudy. Merrill called Agway for chimney cleaner. Social Security up 3.5%. Medicare $14.60 now. Got kids letter from Florida. Mailed on December 28th. Clark’s brought chimney cleaner from Agway, $10.65

Merrill and Bill M. Took down Nativity at church. Merrill worked at June’s in PM. Hot water heater element and plugs and points on tractor. Sent Ken birthday card and letter. Got tax notice $477.76 up $23.37.

Got letter from Vern’s. Sent clipping about Florence Hogaboom. We went for groceries. UMW at parsonage. Mrs. Zeller and mother, Mrs. Mitchell came for first, 14 there. Church apportionments are all paid but Folts Home. Fuel bills paid. June R. here.

Snowing some in morning but sunny in PM. Merrill cleaned church in PM. He cleaned floors here. I washed. Harvey Weeks 2 grandsons, age 2 and 6, sledded into river by old mill Thursday. Their mother and Pam jumped in after them. Lance Martin, 2, died on way to hospital in Syracuse.

Below zero over night. Steve called in evening. Went back on bus today. He’s coming to Philadelphia next weekend. Patty called in evening. Jim having back trouble. Audrey has to go into hospital for impacted tooth.

-20° here last night. Cold all day. Sunny. Jim and Patty here for lunch. Merrill filed his saw. Jim took home his Air Force uniform. Fits him perfect. Washed. We went for groceries in PM. Florence Meeks, 90 died yesterday.

Much warmer. Took food to Meeks from Methodist women. Washed. Merrill cleaned. Steve and Gail came from Potsdam on late bus. Got here for supper and stayed all night. Stuart and Lori Haggerty have baby girl, Blossom Ann.

Trustee’s voted to insulate rest of parsonage. Steve and Gail left for Potsdam at 9 AM. We went to Sunday School and church, 52 out. Cold. Jim’s didn’t get out. We slept in PM. Charge conference at Mills. Rev. Allison Wood presided. We went for meeting. Trustee’s meeting at 7:30. Regular meeting at 8. Merrill named chairman of Trustees. 25 out to meeting.

Sent cards to Ruth Eggleston and Mary Hall. Wrote Vern’s. Sun out in PM. First time since Monday. Went to city. Snowing there. Got 2 chair throws, lids for stove, and eye drops. Got groceries. Got Blue Cross check for $20. Got thank you note from Gail.

Cold but nice. -25° during night. Jim, Patty and kids here for lunch. They bought a TV at Sears just like the one we got there. They got us a TV stand. Looks nice. Took our snow blower home to use. Girls stayed

Windy and snowy. Randy Horton’s 24th birthday. Horton’s helped Merrill clean out our wood chimney. Put ladder in tractor bucket. Amanda here with them. Also Mike and Blaine Roland. I went to Rebekah’s in evening, 7 there. Lodge gave $25 for new dialysis machine at Mercy Hospital.

June Ridsdale here on way to city. We went for groceries in PM. Merrill got multi tool set I sent for before Christmas. It was on TV, $7.98. Paid $1.49 a dozen for large eggs. Poultry disease in other states.
