Rev. Salisbury on vacation. Fort Drum chaplain, Burger preached, 33 out. We went to Sunday school and church. Steve also. John Shorkey picked Steve up at 6 PM to go back to Potsdam. A lazy day. 167 Marines killed over nigh in Burut. Bombed.

Raining in morning. Merrill went to Hall’s in PM but they were all away. He stopped at June’s. He put wood down cellar. Cindy M here with Avon. I got my birthstone earrings from her. I called Keith Rudes about TV.

Steve’s 19th birthday. Marty Paro’s 14th birthday. Wrote Melba and Elmer. Merrill left at 8 AM to plow Hall’s. Got home at 5:30. Marty, his aunt, and cousin here. Ordered calendar from Darcy. Washed clothes. I called Mrs.K. Hall at Mills. Got note from Pauline R.

Sent order to Wards for navy nylon coat for Merrill, $43.66. Robbins boys cleaned furnace. Snow at Canton this morning. Wrote letter to Times about Today Show. We had meeting on pension and finance committee meeting. 8 present at parsonage.

Merrill worked at Hall’s all day. Windy but nice. Robbins men came after tools they left here and at parsonage. Keith Rudes came for TV. Kathy and boys got home to stay. Gone two weeks tomorrow. Our leaves fell and blew away.

Merrill put on winter tires. Raining. Merrill didn’t go to Hall’s. We went for groceries at noon. Merrill called Robbins about fan on furnace. June R here. UMW at Judy VanTassel’s, 16 there. I went. Rev. Salisbury here in AM. Got letter from Melba. Elmer had gall bladder operation.

We went to Sunday School, 34 and Church, 47. Aunt Maude and girls went to Gilson Strader’s at Ottawa. Merrill ran cleaner. We went to city shopping, Ames and Fays. Merrill got shoes, $23.00 and bib overalls, $19.00 at Ames.

Election. We voted at supper time. Merrill worked at Hall’s until 3 PM. Ordered $10.95 gifts from Tyler Landes. Bought scout candy form Darcy and Marty. Wrote Wards and sent my Blue Cross payment.

Merrill home today. He called Robbins again to fix furnace. Sent for car license. $53.00 this year, up from $36 last year. Went to city in evening to change my shoes. We went up to school to Chemical people meeting at 9 PM.

Only 10° this morning. Sunny. We went to Sunday School and church, 36. Aunt Maude went to Syracuse to see her sister. Patty, Jill, and Joel, here. Jim came from hunting. He got his first deer, 165 pounds at Natural Bridge. They were here for supper. Jolie was skating.

Nice day but cold. Merrill put storm windows in doors at parsonage. Took Venison heart and liver to Aunt Maude. Took my violets over to Aunt Maude. Merrill and Carl Taylor worked at insulation in laundry at parsonage. Patty here for lunch.

Merrill and Carl finished insulation at parsonage. My arthritis is bad today. Rev.Salisbury here with papers to sign. Pension letter. Rained all day. Got note from Vern’s. Vern goes to NYCity today. Home tomorrow.

Everything beautiful with snow this morning. Cloudy. We went for groceries. Got 2 turkeys. Merrill ran cleaner. Terry McKeevfer in accident at Cranberry. 2 men killed. Audrey called. They didn’t take her disability away from her.

Rev. Salisbury’s 67th birthday. We went to city for insulation. Got timer box for church, $40.00. Stopped to see Gladys and Ted. Gladys not home. She called in evening. Merrill got me Sunbeam can opener for my birthday.

A beautiful sunny day. Merrill put 10 bags of insulation in kitchen and dining room. Needs more to finish. Washed clothes. Washed my rust nylon coat for first time. Terry McKeever came home by ambulance. Delores Hanson and Arnold Wells married.

We went to Sunday School, 47 and church, 40. Shower for Lori Farrell at Susie’s. I went. Nice shower. Patty, Jolie, and Joel here in PM. Brought me birthday gifts. We paid $60 towards UMC pension fund. We pledged $180.00 for three years. $120 yet to go.

Dr. Edwin W. Roberts has retired. My doctor for 37 years. My 66th birthday. Sent Debbie card and letter. Ken and Eleanor here for supper. Had been to Canada. Saw Bowman’s, Strader’s, and Gilmore’s. Brought me cards and candy. Kathy here in evening. Brought me delicious muffins. Ken’s went to Dilly’s.

Agway supper. I made 4 pies for it. Fed 434. Very nice. I won pliers. Got birthday cards and notes from Gehm’s and Vern’s. Went for groceries at noon. Vern went for Steve at Potsdam. They didn’t stop. Got order from Wards that I ordered in September.

Elmer Neville’s, 80, died this morning. We delivered food to Leddy. Merrill fixed faucets at Randy’s. Belile’s left for Delaware this morning. Rev. Salisbury backed into garage door. Merrill got it open. Merrill called on Terry McKeever’s. Thanksgiving Eve service at Philadelphia, 35 there.

I called folks for food for Neville’s. Merrill fixed parsonage door on garage. We went to funeral home in PM. Got card and letter from Uncle Berl. The state is after his nursing home. It is run by the Universal Life Church.

Merrill took fruit cocktail cake to Neville’s. I baked carrot cake for here. Washed clothes. Merrill ran cleaner. Randy and Elaine Horton have baby girl, Joanna Mae born today. There other girls are Amanda and Melissa.

Communion today at church. We went to Sunday School and church, 38. Beautiful sunny day but cold wind. Jean N. Hall brought my cake pan in PM. Vern, June, and Dan stayed for supper on way back from taking Steve back to Potsdam.

Sent first Christmas card and letter to Uncle Berl. Merrill and Bill fixed garage door at parsonage. Merrill helped Carl Horton do light fixture at his mother’s place. June Ridsdale called. She has Philadelphia phone again.
