30° this morning. Mother’s Day. We went to church, 93 out. Mrs. Cameron gave me afghan she made for Mom to take to her. Patty called in morning. They came for dinner. Brought me petunia plant.

Ground covered with snow this morning. Windy. Merrill built fence around night pasture. Cold and rainy all day. Sorted my jewelry.

Jim and Pat’s 8th anniversary. We went out to Mom’s. I took her to Dr. Thompson at Adams Center. Her 2nd visit to him. Merrill put on barn roof for one of Don’s barns, $30. Aunt Maude went to hospital. Room 231. Betty Haggerty had operation.

UMW District Meeting at Black River. Only Esther and Marilyn went. Vicki Haggerty and Michael Walrath wedding at Philadelphia Catholic Church. Reception at home. We went to both.

Wrote Vern’s. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Bill here with fuel oil,, 118 gallons @.469

Betty Haggerty went home from hospital. Brown’s farm auction. Large. Church sold refreshments. I fried all the hamburgers,160. Merrill helped all day. Margaret K, Marilyn, Lois, Esther, Janet also. Howard paid for rest of dump station, $200 and $100 toward pasture. I went to baby shower for Tina Nickter at Judy P.

Merrill put young stock out. Merrill mowed all three lawns. I baked cake and cookies. My eyes bad today. Cleaned floors. Aunt Maude got home from hospital.

Patty’s 30th birthday. We went to Sunday School and church. We went to Jim’s in PM. Took Patty birthday cake. We stopped at church for evening service on way home. All very nice. Patty flour sifter and lace table doily.

Merrill worked at Eberly’s building fence all day. I washed. Evelyn, Martha, Marion and Mary called. Called phone company to remove extension phone.

Merrill finished up fence at Eberly’s. Paid $30. for 10 hours. Telephone company took out extension phone up stairs. I washed sun porch.

We went out to Mom’s. Merrill put on house roof at Dons. Worked 5 1/2 hours. Stopped at Sears and Fays. Got paint for porch. Merrill got electric drill at Fays, $12. on sale. Ordered jack at Sears.

We went to Mom’s. Aunt Maude went with us. Merrill worked on house roof. 7 hours. Uncle Lloyd there in PM. Mom not good at all today. Hall’s aren’t selling farm.

FFA Banquet. Merrill and I worked on it. I called Dr. Myerdericks. Mr. Whitman, insurance man here. Merrill worked at Carl Horton’s for 4 hours. I painted porch ceiling.

Merrill worked at Horton’s for 4 hours. Vern’s called in morning. Gehm’s are here. Washed and cut my hair. Merrill mowed lawns. Terry mowed center lawn. We planted dahlias and flowers. Hot. In 80’s. Howard turned his cows into night pasture.

Jim goes to Police Convention at Monticello. Rev. Cameron and Don Gehm birthday. We went to Sunday School and church. We all sang happy birthday to Rev. Cameron. We drove out to Mom’s in PM. Went to Sunday evening church. Stopped at Beulah’s.

PNG’s at Aunt Maude’s. Administrative Board meeting, I went. IOOF meeting. Merrill went. Lynn went to hospital. Merrill worked at Horton’s, 8 hours. I washed porch windows. Settled porch. Varnished rocker and stands. Washed clothes.

Mom’s appointment with Dr. Myerdericks, 2:40. He wants her to go to hospital Thursday. Merrill worked at Don’s roof, 4 hours. I took Juanita to Lorraine Church. Stopped at Marg’s. We varnished furniture second coat in evening.

Another beautiful day. Cooler in evening. Merrill took car to Gouverneur for front brake lining, $38.58. He worked at Horton’s, 5 hours. Patty and kids here. Patty and I planted garden.

We took Mom to hospital. Merrill worked 3 hours on Don’s roof. Eleanor came to Mom’s. Brought lard for Vi, 20 pounds. Got groceries on way home.

Merrill finished job at Horton’s, 1 1/2 hours. We went to hospital in PM. Mom had x-rays and bone scan. Hurt so she wouldn’t let them finish. Wrote Vern’s. Merrill got hydraulic jack from Sears, $28.88. Phoned Payne’s

Betty Haggerty, 73rd birthday. Sent letter to Insurance company to cancel our Life Insurance, Farm Family. We went to hospital to see Mom. She’s feeling better. Is getting chemotherapy. Marg and Roy there. Rained in evening.

Cold in morning, 45°. We went to Sunday School and church. Went to hospital in PM. Mom about the same. She called Dorothy Hogaboom. David Pledger, 32, killed in car accident.

Howard and Evelyn’s 25th anniversary. We gave them bottle opener and silver. Jim’s here for lunch and supper. Jim, Pat, Joel and I went over to Halls. Jolie went to Brancatella’s. Nice day but cold wind in AM. Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s porch for first 3 hours.

Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s in AM. Aunt Maude came down for lunch. We all went to hospital in PM. Mom feeling less pain. Uncle L, Beulah, Don, Juanita there also.

Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s porch, 6 hours. We went to hospital in evening. Made pies. Got note from June. Mom had 2nd radium treatment. Has had 4 chemo therapy treatments.

Wrote Vern’s. Merrill mowed lawns. Look so nice. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Raining some in PM. Merrill got $64.28 check from accident disability.

4-H canceled. We went to hospital all PM. Got Mom pink house coat at Weston’s. Merrill went up to Eberly’s in AM.

Fireman’s Field Days. Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s, 6 hours. Sent accident bills for Merrill. Wrote Uncle Berl. Cool today.

We went to Oswego. Went to Minetto Church to see Steve join church. Don and Bea Gehm there also. Very nice day together. Stopped at hospital on way home. Mom said Don’s have a new car. June sent Mom flowers.

Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s. I had diarrhea all day. Feel awful.

UMW. Esther Hodge and Mildred Porter guests. 14 present. We went to hospital in PM. I talked with Dr. Myerdericks. Mom can go home last of week. Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s in AM. Jim’s here for supper. I went to UMW after they left.

Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s, 8 hours. Wrote Ken’s. Rebekah’s, but I didn’t go. Cool today. Washed clothes.

Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s in morning. We went to hospital in PM. Uncle Lloyd is in there. Has operation in morning. Mom feeling better.

We went to hospital for Mom. Aunt Maude went with us. Uncle Lloyd had operation, colonostomy. Is in intensive care for a couple days. Wrote Vern’s. Hospital called collect.

Merrill worked at Eberly’s, 6 1/2 hours. Got insurance check for $45 and $1187.74. Total $1297.02 so far. North American Co. Made cake. Sent Blue Cross, $76.92

Merrill went to Sunday School and church. Dwayne Watson preached. Last Sunday of Sunday School. Aunt Maude called Beulah. Uncle Lloyd coming OK but weak. He has lots of congestion. Washed in evening.

Got letter from Uncle Berl. Mom’s appointment, 10:15 in hospital for x-ray treatment. We went to city. Saw Uncle Lloyd in intensive care. He goes to a room today. Mom visited Gladys Shelmidine at hospital. She fell off her back steps. We mowed lawns.

Mom’s x-ray therapy at 10:15. Aunt Maude went with us to hospital. Took Mom home and spent the day. Merrill helped Don on barn scaffold. Mom to go back to hospital in 2 weeks for a check up. I got B-12 shot from Marilyn.

Merrill worked at Eberly’s. Finished job. I got locked out of house. Had to crawl in laundry room window. Wasn’t easy. Cleaned house and washed clothes. Merrill home in PM.

We spent all day at Mom’s. Merrill helped Don on barn. We got life insurance surrender benefits. Merrill’s, $934.42 and mine, $680.87. Made Mom birthday cake in evening.

Mom’s appointment with Dr. Thompson, 2:45. Mom’s 85th birthday. Merrill helped Don on barn. Juanita and I took Mom. Had birthday party for Mom. Orv, Angie, Marg and Roy. Ken and Eleanor, Holly, Roberta, Bill and Luke, Don and Juanita, Cindy, Karen, Dwayne, Merrill and I. Called Patty on way home.

Finally raining. We went out to Mom’s. She seems real good today. Merrill helped Don. Mom gave me lace table cloth and lace bed spread she made. We sent Beatrice and Braynard 50th anniversary card.

Brancatella’s moved to New Jersey today. We went to c church, 79 out. Sunday School had a breakfast for Jay Larson, exchange student. We went down to see Mrs. Beardsley in PM. She is real good at 91 years. Vern’s called.

PNG’s at McCormick’s, 18 PNG’s there. I rode with Esther. Vi and Leah drove. Merrill worked at Aunt Maude’s door. Latch doesn’t fit so he couldn’t finish. I made cake and 4 pies. Washed clothes. David Dimon here to inquire about farm.

We went to city in AM. Got eye drops. Tried to find door latch for Aunt Maude. Jim, Pat and kids here in PM and for supper.

We went out home. Merrill helped Don on barn. We went up to Aunt Maude’s in evening to put latch on her door. Uncle Lloyd a little better. I talked with Dr. Thompson.

Merrill helped Don on barn. Mom seemed in less pain today. We went to funeral home for Vida Miller Wallace. Saw Howard and Edith Hanson. Also Bruce H and family. Earl Raymos and Ruth and Ev. Hoover there also.

Graduation. Jamie Schell graduates. We went out home all day. Merrill worked on barn. I washed windows and curtains up for Mom. Vern, June and boys came up there for supper. Uncle Lloyd had operation. He had a kink on intestine. I stopped at hospital on way home.

Sent June card, and $5. Merrill put new sink pipe on at parsonage. Finished door latch at Aunt Maude’s. I washed clothes. Made 2 pumpkin pies, donuts and cookies. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Lettie has had more strokes. Merrill mowed lawns in evening.

June’s birthday. We went to church. Eberly’s paid Merrill. Went to Sackets to take radishes. Patty’s dad there. Jim working. Stopped at Aunt Maude’s. Ate at Burger King.
