Foggy, cloudy. Juanita called about 7 AM to say Don died last night about 10 PM in Samaritan. They had moved him there from Genesis. They called Juanita about 7 PM. Doreen and kids took her to hospital. I called Vern, Jim, and Lyla. Merrill went to day care. I called to see how he was doing. He told them about Don. Vern called in PM to ask if I had heard anymore. Don had Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s. He dies of Cardiac arrest. I called Esther. Don’s funeral Monday at 11 at Lorraine Church followed by a dinner at church. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5 PM at Piddocks funeral home. I called Vern, Lyla. Called Vi, Julie and baby home.

A nice day. Sun in PM. I called Jim and Vern in morning. I washed some of Merrill’s and my slacks. I made cake. Merrill carried recyclables to garage. We have to find someone to take them up on the hill. I saw Linda a few minutes. She thanked us for the fruit basket. We got notice we are getting 225 from Heap for fuel bill. Merrill received new razor foil. Jolie and Zack here at suppertime. Juanita called in evening to ask if Vern and Jim would be bearers for Don. They need eight. I called them both. Debby and Karen got home about 4 PM. Donnie brought his cat and dog with him from Indiana.

Sunny day. We didn’t go to church. Doris said only 30 out. They made over $700 on supper Friday night. Jolie and Zack came out and took us to Don’s wake at Piddocks Funeral home in Adams. Good to see all the family. We stopped at Philadelphia Restaurant for supper. Then came here for cake. Jolie took our car home and will come for us in the morning. Lyla will go with us. Her car is acting up.

Cloudy day. Dan’s 31st birthday. Don’s funeral at Lorraine Methodist church. A full church and a very nice service. Bob and Karen played. Just great. The pastor sang a solo without music. Nice. Cindy gave a reading “The Farmer’s Daughter”, so very sweet. The church put on a delicious dinner for everyone. Jolie drove our car and Lyla went with us to Lorraine. Jolie came home with Zack and Lyla drove our car home. First she’s driven it. Merrill lost his razor so he had to go without shaving. I got nice sympathy cards from Lyla and Joyce Purcell.

Cloudy cold wind. Snowing hard at supper time and very slippery. Merrill has a very hoarse throat this morning. Lyla brought our car home. Kathy came after her. They have an apartment for Lyla at Chase Manor if she wants it. I got letter from eye center. Tests March 19th and 23rd. Bonnie Klock killed on icy road on 342. She was 56.

About 4 inches of snow on ground this morning. Warmer 40° at noon. Merrill didn’t go to day care. He’s getting a cold. He shoveled some snow after supper. Debby, Crystal, Jericho here in AM. She leaves Rochester airport at 8 PM for Colorado. Mary Chamberlain called to say there is no lodge today. Ginny sick with flu. Alice F called. She sees doctor again about cancers on her face. We got cards from Bea Gehm and Patty. I called Jim in evening at home. He didn’t work today as he doesn’t feel good. He’ll bring my pills tomorrow. Nellie Theabault 83 died today.

A nice sunny day. Warm. Jolie called. Jim still sick and can’t bring my pills. Lyla will take me for them tomorrow when we go for groceries.

A nice sunny spring like day. Merrill went to day care. First time this week. Lyla and I went to city. She drove our car. We went to the Medicine Shoppe and Pharmhouse. Lyla took me to lunch at Shullers. Very nice. We went for groceries at Ron’s when we got home. Chad Dudley here in PM. Rev Elaine White here in late PM. It is in tonight’s paper Nellie Theabault died Wednesday. She was 83. Got card from Eleanor and Bob H. I got more Aricept for Merrill at Dr. Mikes.

Sunny. Warm. I washed white clothes. I tried to find someone to take trash to disposal on hill but no luck. We put windshield washer fluid in car. Jim called in PM. He still has quite a cold. Missed a day of work. We got letter from Insurance Co asking for bill for line repair.

A very cloudy day all day. Rained last night. We went to church. Not many out. Communion. Wayne came after us. Merrill didn’t sleep much last night. He’s very mixed up today. He threw some of the tree limbs from back yard over the bank. Shirley called in evening.

Cloudy dark day. No sun. Merrill went to day care. He was awake all night. Only slept from 9:30 – 11:00 PM. I’ve been so tired all day. I washed white clothes and bed liners. I can’t talk out loud tonight. I’ve coughed a lot today. We got bill from E.D.Young Inc.228.00 + 15.96 tax = $243.96.

A dark cloudy day. Kathy here to clean. She went for groceries for me. Jim called from work. His cold is better but he still has it. I sent letters (Bill) to Insurance company. Also Lawyer’s letter to Barb Tifft. I can talk a little better tonight.

A little sun but cloudy. Merrill went to day care, finally. He was up all night. He didn’t want to go or eat breakfast. I called Jim to talk to him. Merrill finally decided to go. I’ve been so tired all day. I got some sleep during day. No work done. Jim called at noon. I got questionnaire from University Health Care Center at Syracuse about our visit there 7/7/97.

Some snow on ground this morning but melted later in morning. Sun out in PM. I called Vern’s. They are fine. No flu bug. I washed white clothes. Also made chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Some sun. Mostly cloudy. We didn’t go to church. My cold is breaking up and I cough a lot. I called Nancy not to pick us up. Jim called from mall. Sue working. Ashley with Jim. Jim and the explorer scouts worked the MDA races at Dry Hill today.

Rainy but warm Up to 61°. A little sun in PM. Dr. Mirza 10:30. Jim and Sue took us. We ate at Norma Jeans. I called Lyla. Larry at her house. He has been in Gouverneur hospital from bad reaction to one of his medicines. He’s feeling okay. We saw Edna Fikes and Belva at Doctor’s office. Edna had triple bypass operation two weeks ago. I called Zack and Jolie to see how Shawn Michael was. He went to emergency room last night with ear infection and vomiting. He’s feeling much better.

Everything covered with snow. Very beautiful outside. I called Mike about Merrill’s pills. He wanted to see Merrill. Lyla came and took us down. Merrill to take one 100 mg Trapazone at night. I called Barbara Delles to ask about Darcie. They got here yesterday. Brent got to see his snow. I wrote Clark and Vivian T. Sent final payment to Sears account. Sent $10 to PBA fund. Ken had hernia operation on other side.

Cold. Down to 0°. Merrill went to day care. Vicki called with my appointment with Dr. LaPoint for April 6th at 2:15 PM. Jim called in PM from work.

Still very cold. Below zero. Sunny day but cold north wind. Kathy here to clean in PM. She does such a good job. I roasted a turkey breast. We had hot turkey sandwiches for supper. Good. Bonnie called from day care to say they are going to mall for lunch tomorrow Merrill needs to take money for it.

Merrill went to day care. They planned to go to mall for lunch. I sent E.D.Young Inc $243.96 for putting new wires on house and garage. Lyla was here. She took me to store for groceries. Merrill came home very upset. He says they went to Canada today but I think it was to Salmon Run Mall.

Lots of stuff going on at city to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and to raise money to bring Irish kids to Northern New York this summer. I called Juanita. She’s doing okay. She’s going to her niece Carol’s in New Jersey the 10th for 2 weeks. Carol is moving to Watertown. Ken had his other hernia operation last Tuesday, March 10th. He doesn’t feel as great this time. Merrill shoveled driveway after supper.

A real nice day. Could be warmer. We went to church. Wayne, Nancy and Alice came after us. Question and answer Sunday. Rev. Elaine White said she has asked for a years leave of absence. Sunday School kids sang. Good. 34 out to church.

Cloudy day. Raining in evening. No day care today because of move. I called Jim. He is teaching police class Thursday AM. Lyla called. She’s worried about weather report for tomorrow Vicki called from eye center and wants me to come in at 10 instead of 11. Merrill has been terrible since he got up this morning. This has been on of his worse days. It was bad for me until Jill and Shawn Michael called. It was so good to talked with them. Jim called earlier in the day. I think Merrill will have to go back to his Trazadone morning pill 50 mg. He takes 100 mg at bedtime.

Cloudy and rainy all day. 35°. Pre op tests at eye center 10 AM. Lyla took us to city. Jill called. She would have taken us if it had been icy. Vicky measured my eyes. I got Merrill Timex wristwatch at Kinney’s for his birthday. Linda Bayette from seeing impaired here. They have a transportation service. Wings under way. She gave me felt pen. First day of spring. A cloudy day. Merrill went to day care. Tired when he got home. Vern called in PM. Bea Gehm went into hospital for fluid. They can’t come for Merrill’s birthday Sunday. They are baby sitting Kristen and Sarah. Chad Dudley here in PM. Clark and Vivian got home from Florida this PM. Merrill got birthday card from Lyla.

Snowing hard all day. Clark took almost 3 months recyclables to dump and 2 bags of garbage. So good to get it cleaned out of here. I washed white clothes. Also made cake and scallop potatoes. Jim called from work. We got insurance check from ice storm. $481.96. Merrill got card from June and Vern. I gave Merrill new Timex watch for his birthday. Eleanor H called. Joyce Purcell and Grant Sharp in Syracuse hospital.

Another snowy day. We didn’t get to church. No sleep last night. Merrill’s 89th birthday. Gloria called him from Newark. Jill called in PM to tell Grandpa happy birthday. Jolie and Zack here for dinner. Jim, Sue, and Ashley came later. We had cake and Jello. Sue told us Jolie lost custody of Shawn Michael this week. She let him miss too much school.

Cloudy snowy day. Pre op test at Samaritan Hospital 10 AM. Zack took me for them. Jolie had phone calls to make. Jill and Jim’s 2nd wedding anniversary. Merrill went to day care. I stopped at Zack and Jolie’s. They brought me home. I sent Sarah birthday card, note and $10.

Sunny 34° Sarah’s 3rd birthday. Merrill has slept all day. Very mixed up in evening. My arthritis very sore today. Merrill got birthday cards from Gladys Lamon and Nancy Neal, Gladys wrote nice letter. I sent prescription to Pharmhouse.

Merrill went to day care. Sunny. He got hair cut there. Jim called at noon. Jolie met with lawyer McClusky today. Rebekah’s cancelled. Ginny sick. We got sympathy card from Elmer and Rosie from Florida for Don’s death.

Cloudy most of day. Warm. Kathy here to clean. I called Ken and Esther in evening. Ken at barn. He’s sore from his operation. Holly not helping him. Juanita’s birthday. We got sympathy card from Arlene Decker. She’s coming in July. Vi’s cataract operation. Talked with Jolie and Zack. All going well with them.

Great day. Merrill went to day care. Jolie, Zack, Shawn Michael here for supper. Jim, Sue and Ashley here later for cake and ice cream. Judge gave Jolie back full support of Shawn Michael. Esther’s birthday 75. I got letter and sympathy card from Haggerty twins. Martha Doddy and Margaret Clock. So great to hear from them. They lost track of Richard after their father died.

Another summer day. 83° Lyla took us to Dr. Mikes and over town for groceries and to the bank. Deposited insurance check. Lyla got the keys to her new apartment. Tina and Barb here. Merrill’s leg swollen. He’s to see Mike at 1:30. Mike didn’t think his leg was that swollen. Mike gave him Aricept pills free. Arlene Decker’s birthday. I called June and Vern. Bea about the same. Very weak.

Cooler 53° Rain in PM. Merrill went to day care. I cleaned upstairs. Tina called to see what Mike had to say about Merrill. Jim Mifford gets home on leave from Korea.

He didn’t want me to help him get shampoo out of his hair. It wasn’t easy getting up but I made it. More fun. Jim M got home from Korea. They stayed in Syracuse overnight.

Daylight time starts I set clocks in PM yesterday. We went to church. Wayne and Nancy came after us. We won’t be going next Sunday. A sunny day. Merrill worked at cleaning lawns in PM. I wrote letter to Martha and Margaret. Jill and Jim Mifford came out and we took them out to Philadelphia Restaurant. Jim looks good.

A sunny day. Merrill went to day care. Dr. LaPoint 2:15. Lyla took me to city. Lyla here for lunch. I had pre eye exam at Dr. LaPoint’s. She told me I have osteoporosis. BP great. I got Merrill Remmington electric razor and I got Hoover upright vacuum cleaner. I wrote Martha and Margaret in California. Sent them our 60th anniversary picture.

Nice sunny day. Call hospital at 785-4386 between 11 and 3 PM to find out what time to be there tomorrow. Jim called. He wants to take me to hospital and Vern meet us there if I have to be there early. I washed clothes. Also put attachments on new cleaner. I called and my operation is at 7:30. Also called social service. Kathy is coming 6-8:30. Kathy is bringing new aid, Amy, her daughter next week. Kathy here one hour. Jim called in evening. Jolie called. She has a new job at Steinbecks store. Starts tomorrow at 6 PM. Vi and Lyla called in evening.

Nice day. Cataract operation. Left eye. Also glaucoma operation and enlarged pupil. All went well. Merrill to day care. Kathy to put him on bus. Jim took me to hospital. Vern met us at hospital. He brought me home and is staying all night. We went up to Pat Theabaults pizza café. Had a delicious pizza. Jolie and Zack stopped in awhile. They had been to parent teacher conference at Antwerp. Shawn Michael doing real good I school. Good in math. Vivian T over in PM to see how I came out. June called in evening. Jolie N brought us Easter lily from civic league. Jolie started work at Seinbecks store.

Sunny. Merrill to day care. Vern and I went for groceries in AM. Vern took me to see Dr. Sanni and brought me home. Dr removed my patch. Gave me 2 new kind of drops. I’m putting in 28 drops a day. I go back Monday. Margaret K brought me a cake. Eleanor and Bob sent us card. Rev. Elaine called. Maundy Thursday supper at Mills. Vern left about 4:45 PM. It was great to have him here for those 2 days. He still is such a perfectionist. The Lord sure blessed us with two wonderful sons. Shawn Michael called me.
