I went to the city with Barkers. Vernon & Jimmy stayed at Mother’s. Got Mom a kettle. Got new dishpan. Got Merrill a pipe. Got order from Wards, cloth for dresses.

Merrill mowed lawn. Started my dress.

Vernon didn’t go to school. Sore throat. Dot helped paper kitchen ceiling. Merrill went to Adams. Sent card to Aunt Mildred. Oren & Marie are engaged.Got dress pattern.

Dot & I finished papering kitchen. Wrote Marg. Got graduation invitation from Lila. Still raining.

A grand day at last. Washed clothes. Did up curtains. They started planting potatoes.

Jimmy & I went to Adams on bus. Visited school & Aunt M. Got window shades. Got letter from Angie. Nice day.

Evelyn & Arlene were down. Got pictures. Vernon stayed down at Aunt Mildred’s for weekend. Went to Lacona for groceries. A nice day.

Still another nice day. Third in a row. Edith & Dot were here. Jimmy & I went up to Barkers & called Aunt Mildred. Went to Lorraine & over home in evening. Merrill got hair cut.

Planted garden. Mom & Eleanor were up in PM. Raining in PM & evening. Oren gave Jimmy chocolate bar.

Sent $40.00 to Spiegel. Raining. Started making play suit. Vernon got home from his visit at Adams. Had a grand time.

Grand day. Washed clothes. Edith, Dot & Evelyn were down. Brought me gold bronze paint to use.

Wrote Aunt Mildred. Vernon did too. Planted corn for first time this year. Started cleaning dining room. Vernon planted glads today.Gilbert entered Marines.

Rainy & thunderstorms during day. Wrote to Mother T & Ration Board. Dot & Evelyn were here. Gave Dot glads.

Mother & Dad were up in PM. We went looking for potatoes. Merrill fixed car. Merrill & Vernon went fishing. Jimmy, Vernon & I got Merrill box of candy for Father’s Day.

Washed clothes. Rainy day. Got blank for tires from Ration Bboard. Wrote Florence. Evelyn started work at drug store again.

Got letter from Marg. Finished making play suit. Went up to Florence’s in evening. Merrill & Earle went to Redfield.

Got letter from Mother T. & card from Aunt Mildred. Evelyn & Arlene were here. Arlene went to Lorraine & over home with us. Merrill got shoes $5.60. Mother T. sent letter about Loren. Wrote to Lila.

Raining. Arlene was here awhile. Wrote Mother T, Marg & card to Mom.

Vernon gets out for vacation. Merton [Merton Pool, bus driver] treated them all to ice cream at Giova’s. Vernon got new pants $3.98. Went to Lacona in evening. Dot & Arlene were here. Sent order to Chicago Mail Order. Shoes.

They planted oats today. 16 acres. Baked, cleaned, waxed rugs. Grand day.

Uncle B, Aunt M, Mom & Dad were up for dinner. Vernon, Jimmy & I went over home for supper. Merrill came over in evening. Dot was down. Gave me flowers.

Went to church. went to Adams to see Hungerfords. Stopped at Aunt M. They went to Washington Park with us for dinner. Roy & Marg were here in evening.

Canned 6 1/2 quarts berries. Washed & ironed. Cloudy day.

Got Permanent. $6.50. Vernon &Jimmy stayed at Aunt Mildred’s. Got cloth for blouse. Made it in evening.

Went to Ellisburg to 4th Celebration. Stopped over home. Marg & Roy were here in morning. Mowed lawns.

Canned 6 quarts berries. Sent order to Spiegel. Dot was down. Went up to Barkers in evening. Terrible thunder storm.

Started haying. Canned 6 1/2 quarts strawberries. Got letter from Gloria. Went to Lacona in evening. Store closed. Got 2 dozen eggs @.50 from Stones.

Baked. Vernon & Jimmy worked in garden all PM. Went to Lacona in evening. Got pk. potatoes @.80. Grand day.

Merrill cut grass & cultivated potatoes. Went over to Dad’s & Grandma’s. Gib Denny was home on 24 hour pass.

Washed clothes. Canned 5 1/2 quarts berries. Got back letter we sent Loren year ago. Dot was down.

Stormed during night & this morning. Quite cool all day. Dot was down. Arlene was down in evening. Popped corn.

Real cool. Ironed clothes. The piece was in paper about how Loren was killed etc. Sent order to Wards for cloth & Ration Board (sugar).

Got letter from Mother T. Sent letter she got from Loren’s buddy. Ken was up in evening. Brought pork up. Vernon went up to Mary’s in PM.

Wrote Mother T. Got pearls, gloves, & belt form Spiegel. Went to Lacona for groceries in evening. Rained in evening. Oren had heifer killed during last storm.

Got ration for 1 tire. Nigger has 5 kittens under steps. Went to Lorraine in evening. Went over home. Dad’s gave Vernon overalls & Jimmy suit.

Went up to Mary’s in morning. Merrill went over to Reeds for Dad. Went over home in PM. Gib Denny was home this weekend.
