Lila’s shower. Made cakes. Arlene went to the shower with us. Had a grand time. Was 23 there. We got over there at 11:00 PM. Wrote to Gloria.

Went to Philadelphia. Had dinner at Uncle Rays. Went to see the farm. Only 2 flat tires on way out. Vernon stayed at Dad’s. Broke my glasses.

Got ration for 2 tires. Got canning sugar ration. 40 pounds. Russia has declared war on Japan.

Labor Day. Went to Adams in PM. Canned peaches. Broke my glasses. Stopped at Aunt Mildred’s. Johnny Damedio was here in evening.

School starts. Johnny Damedio is new bus driver. Washed. Canned 20 quarts tomatoes. Vernon got home at noon.
