Jim’s 33rd birthday. We met him at Agway. Got frozen stuff. Gave Jim masons hammer. Got Joel sneakers. Jolie went home with him. Merrill mowed hay. Nominating committee meeting at CEC. Rev. C, Bill, Vi, Marjorie K and I there. Got most offices filled.

Merrill raked hay in AM. Drawed 2 load in PM. Not too cured. Got card from Dot Medina. A cool day. Boots and I went to Big M. Claude Wilson called. Agway will wire parsonage for $1450. Gave go ahead.

Raining and cool. Brenda, Bill and kids here in PM. They have Foster boy, Raymond, age 21 months. Pat B came over to borrow bale of twine.

Cloudy. We went to church. Dave and Elaine rode with us. We went to Fays for eye drops and iron pills. Stopped at Mrs. Beardsley’s a few minutes on way home. MD Telethon started at 9 PM.

Labor Day. Merrill mowed hay. We drawed one load. A nice day but cool. Cleaned kitchen floor. Cheryl H called to say Esther would be Sunday School Superintendent. We praised the Lord for this.

UMW covered dish at Mills. Merrill and I went to program after supper. Got B-12 shot. We went to Sears for car battery, $35. 48 month guarantee. Drawed 1 load of hay. Too went yet. Called Patty. Jolie’s first day of school. Jim took her.

Rebekah’s first meeting in the Mason’s Temple. 18 there. Seemed strange. Drawed 1 1/2 load of hay. Baler quit. Wore shorts today instead of a jacket to hay it. Beautiful day, 75°.

Had to go to Pulaski to see Dr. Sommers at 11:10. Had upper denture relined, $28. Merrill couldn’t get baler going. Pat B baled with his baler. Pastor-Parish meeting at CEC. All there but Mr. Sharpe, Mrs. Scott and Matt M. Merrill fell off wagon twice. Hurt arm and hip.

Rainy, Cleared in evening. Merrill vary lame from fall. I got groceries. Dawn and Laura here in evening. Merrill went to Theresa.

Raining. Patty called. Jim’s back is bothering so he can’t work. I called Mom in evening. Marg got home from hospital yesterday. Was her blood. She was there a week.

We went to Sunday School, 12 in Tracy’s class, and church, 60 out. We went to Sackets in PM. Jim a little better. Mr. Puffer there also. Sunny and warm all day.

Merrill mowed lawns, 2 of them. He got baler going again. Was a worn gasket. George and Margaret W. here. Odd Fellows had meeting to fill out paper work on hall for Grand Lodge.

Merrill went to Frys for mower part, $2.50. Finance meeting, 8 PM. 7 there. I mowed some of lawn. Merrill finished it. Aunt Maude went to hospital twice by ambulance, Carthage. Wrote Marg.

Evening Bible Study starts. We went. 9 out. Very nice. Hal H. and 2 boys helped draw old hay off meadow. Paid them $9. Drawed 1 load of hay. Aunt Maude came home from Carthage hospital.

Cloudy. I went up to Aunt Maude’s in AM. Got groceries. Hay not dry enough to rake. I’ve had headache all day. Sent Marg note. Got letter from June

4-H here. 2 Food lessons. All here but Judi, Jennifer, and Lorraine. Two guests, Lisa Smith and Susan Gleason. Made fondue and cranberry crunch. Renewed Readers Digest with Jamie S. Merrill went to funeral home for Carlton Ronas. Mr. McNairn stopped for cleaner power head.

Carlton Ronas, 66, funeral at church. Wrote Vern’s. Sent him card, $5. Transplanted peonies. Raining again. Washed Merrill’s work clothes.

We went to Sunday School and church, 75 there. Jim’s here in PM and supper. Jim helped Merrill draw two loads of hay. Jim’s back still bothering him. He went back to work, Nice summer day.

PNG’s at Minnie Dyers. I didn’t go. Rained hard in PM and evening. Aunt Maude called. She went to see Uncle Lloyd yesterday. He has had three radium treatments at Syracuse. Has to have 30.

Vern goes to Washington. His 40th birthday. Got letter from Marg. She is feeling good now. Cornell here, whiteside high. Can’t send milk.

Rained in morning and most of day. Merrill went to Bible Study in evening. I went to 4-H leader’s meeting at city with Hecks. Washed clothes.

I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Stopped at Vi’s for birthday cards. Got bushel of apples from peddler, $6.50. Rained most of day and night. Windy. Carter Ford Debate on TV in evening.

Rebekah’s President’s visit, Black River. Froze 13 packages corn. Nice day. Merrill and Boots went to Mills. Sent school tax, $474.38. Lynn got milk for pigs.

Hard frost last night. Cleaned house. Made apple pie. Merrill cut wood.

We went to church. Jim, Patty and kids here in PM and for supper. They brought Taurus, Vicky’s dog, out to Brenda and Bills Friday. Rained hard in PM and all night.

Merrill and Howard fixed fence back on 17 acres. Raining. Administrative Board meeting. 15 there. Good meeting. Mom called in evening.

Ecumenical dinner. About 60 there. Catholics entertained us. All very nice. Nice day but cold. Merrill chopped grass for cows. Got new cleaner hose from Mr. McNairn, $28.

Lodge Book Audit at Marguerites. I didn’t’ go. We went to Bible Study. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s. Merrill went to CEC to fix dining room light. Ballast gone up.

4-H Talent show. We took Laura. Dawn and Alison rode out with us. Laura got blue award. She was very good. A beautiful day. Lynn started cutting grass but hay bind broke down. Got once around.

Power off from 6:30 – 7:15. Norma Gee here in PM. Another great day. Merrill chopped and mowed hay. Lynn’s hay bind quit again. Got twice around. Boots and I went for groceries. I met Mrs. Shew for first. He [Mr. Shew] is going to clean our furnace.

Sunday School paper drive. We helped. Had a Mayflower moving van and town truck both full. A great day. Lynn finished cutting hay across road. They took milk today, six days of it.

We went to Sunday School and Church, 67 out. Jim’s here when we got home. Left about 4:45 as he had to work. Jolie and I helped do 4-H window at Donna’s. Another nice day. Merrill raked over hay.

Another nice day. Wrote Marg. We went to Mills and Fays for eye drops. Stopped at Brenda’s on way. Washed clothes. Merrill went to Lodge meeting about Hall. Civic League there.

A beautiful day, 75°. We baled 3 load, 250 bales of second cutting hay across road. I was in shorts and Merrill had his shirt off like in August. UMW at CEC. I was on committee with Marilyn. Cookies and ice cream and strawberries.

Cooler today. We drawed almost 1 load of hay. I broke baler springs on rack. It was covered with hay so didn’t see it. 3100 bales in barn.

UMW meeting at Pulaski. I went with Esther. Also Marilyn, Mrs. Cameron and Lula. All very nice 9:15.-3:00. Merrill went to Gouverneur with Lynn in PM. Cloudy day, with some rain.

4-H Achievement Night, General Brown. 18 went from our club. Jamie, Hills and Linda didn’t go. We got several awards. Lorraine got special award. Home Environment. Laura named 4th place in talent. Merrill got hair cut. We went for groceries. Aunt Maude went to doctor’s again.

Moved plants in from porch. Rainy. Cold with snow in late evening. Merrill kept cows in barn at night for first this fall. Washed clothes. Called Cheryl. Aunt Maude and Dorr’s in Canada.

We went to Sunday School and church. Charlie Covell had service. Was Laity Sunday. Lorraine and I took down 4-H window in PM. Stopped at Mary’s awhile.

Nice day. Made cookies and lemon pie. No school or mail. Columbus Day. Bob 14, and Judy 18, Netto of Watertown won $1000 a week for life in State Lottery.

Nice day, 52°. Merrill cut wood. He and Boots went to Mills. Barn widow not in yet. Saw Agway about CEC lights. Called Aunt Maude. She had nice Canada visit. Ken, Eleanor, Pauline and Garmon there also.

Vern’s called in morning. May come 22nd. Vi’s eye appointment then. Merrill mowed lawns. Mastitis guys here. Gillette fault the milk was out of plant.

I have horrid cold. Charge Conference at CEC. About 28 there. We just went for meeting. Merrill went to CEC to show electrician about light. Put in new ballast.

Nice day, but rained some in PM. We went for groceries. Merrill measured Lula’s steps for lumber. He went to city and Lanphere. Got power saw at Sears, $42.79. He called Jim’s. They have been sick with colds except Patty. Jim going to work tonight. Jolie went back to school

4-H election of officers and project planning. All here but Jamie and Jennifer. Judi and Jackie Hill aren’t joining. Merrill built front steps for Lula, $15. My cold is better.

We went to Sunday school and church, 74 out. The choir sang so great. Tracy had solo part. A nice day.

Sent ad to Times to sell 15 cows. I washed clothes. Merrill chopped grass for bedding. Merrill stored haying machinery. PNG’s at Diane’s. I didn’t go.

Went over to Brenda’s in evening. They have new fireplace. Got permanent at Donna’s. She only charged me $10. Got letter from June. Aunt Maude’s birthday, 71. I called her. Patty called. Their colds are improving. She hasn’t had it. Merrill and Ray Petrie measured church for insulation. Got B-12 shot at Marilyn’s.

Wrote Vern’s. Merrill cut wood. Our cow ad is in tonight’s paper. We went to Bible Study. Fashion show at legion put on by Civic Club. Rained hard in evening.
