Tired today. Merrill put on door at IOOF. Got one from L. Delles for $2. I cleaned house after supper. Washed my hair.

We went to church. Good turnout. Got submarines at Igloo for lunch. Wrote letters in PM and got pictures ready to send. Aunt Maude called in evening. Called Mom.

Sent 3 films in. Sent several letters. Wrote Vern’s. Rainy and cold. Painted cupboards second coat. Carl Horton and Charlie Watts here.

UMW at Esther’s. Marva showed slides of their trip. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. Ruth went to UMW with me. I went to see her house.

Merrill built fence. Boots and I went to Philadelphia store for Africa relief [that] opened in Taylor block. Rebekah’s. Ruth Schell and I on refreshments. Got first milk check from Borden’s, $250. Got one bill from hospital, $18.65

We went to city. Got 6 chair sets at Sears, $45.12. Merrill put 4 on in evening. Got dress at Diana Shop. Sent Jim and Pat anniversary card. Sent Mother T card. Got letter from Vern’s. Called Mom from city. We didn’t go out after her. Pat was over. Nettie Smith died at midnight. She was at lodge last night.

Jim and Pat’s 5th anniversary. Dr. Scanlon, 10:15. He said the light flashes could be 1 of 3 things. Merrill went out after Mom. Saw Jim. Called Patty. Rebekah’s went for Nettie in evening. Good turn out. Power off in PM.

Merrill finished putting new chair sets on kitchen chairs. Baked pie for tomorrow. Nettie Smith’s funeral. Sun out in PM for awhile. Warm. Telephone man here.

Rained all day. Mother’s Day. We went to church. Nice sermon. Merrill lame from getting wet.

Merrill not feeling good. Getting a cold. Jim, Pat and Jolie here in evening for supper. Jim has sore throat. They brought me candy and tablecloth. We gave Patty perfume and powder.

Nice day today. Very warm, 75-80°. Merrill built fence. I made apple pies. Mom has terrible cold. Merrill’s is better.

Patty’s 27th birthday. Got letter from Mrs. Beardsley. I feel better today. Made cookies.

Merrill went to Crowley’s for free cottage cheese for FFA Banquet at school. Washed clothes. I went to Philadelphia for groceries while Merrill took cheese and pies to school. Carrie T. called. Merrill built fence.

Lisa and Linda leave on Ottawa trip at 7 AM. Merrill mowed all 3 lawns for first time this year. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper. Jim spoke on bicycle safety at Anne Wilmert’s. Merrill went with him. Sears repairman checked washer.

We took Mom home. Stopped at Brenda’s on way. Juanita, Doreen, and Mike there. They took Aunt Esther back to hospital by ambulance. Talked with Aunt Maude twice. Debby and Rick at Evelyn’s.

Debbie and Richard Golden party reception at McCormick’s. Very nice. Mike White [?] sang. Rich and his folks very nice. Schell’s went with us. Got home at 12:20. We went to church. I have a cold.

Washed clothes. Merrill built fence. A beautiful day. Made cake and salad in evening for banquet.

Mother and Daughter covered dish supper. About 105 at supper. Very nice program. Cheryl H. chairman of it. Patty, Jolie and Jim came for it. Jim worked in serving. Merrill built fence. Got pictures back. I went to Bible Study. Pearl went with me.

I feel horrid. Coughed all day. Washed towels. Merrill built fence. Sent in film of Roberta’s shower. I didn’t go to Lodge.

Rainy in morning but cleared in PM. Merrill mowed all 3 lawns. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Got tomato plants and geraniums for cemetery. Aunt Maude and Cheryl went to hospital to see Aunt Esther. She is very weak and drugged but she know Aunt Maude.

Washing machine is 2 years old. We planted dahlias. Nice day but on cool side. Washed my hair. Rebekah card party but we didn’t go. Sent both our life insurance.

Washed clothes. Made cake. Feel tired today. Still coughing. Got letter from Vern’s. They are having teacher prospects to dinner for interviews. Pat gave Merrill battery. Debby and Rich left for Pennsylvania.

Art and Doris H, Stuart and Stephen here in evening. Raining in AM. We went to church. We went to cemetery after church. Ate lunch at Carrolls. Stopped at Fays. Merrill had to get vaseline. Took Boots for ride when we got home. John Schell’s have started new home.

Decoration Day. Jim, Pat, and Jolie and Audrey Puffer here for supper. Nice visit. Jolie got on top of their car. She was outside all the time. Cleaned house.

Leslie, Mother T. and Aunt Cora here all night. Mother and Les here for dinner then went to Edna’s after Aunt Cora. I went to Bible Study with Pearl. I got card from Ruth E from Galveston, Texas. We went to Theresa. Merrill got hair cut. Got Cross and Switchblade book from Gospel Echo’s.

Mother T, Leslie and Aunt Cora left at 10 AM. Cloudy day. I haven’t felt good all day. Aunt Maude called in evening.

Got our first TV Guide, from Vern’s. Dr. Roberts, 3:30. He stopped iron capsules. Nice day. Merrill planted cucumbers and set out tomato plants. Lisa here to fill out 4-H report.

Boots and I went after groceries. Merrill worked at Carl Horton’s. Telephone man here to fix phone. Got thank you note from Debby and Rick. Very windy. Merrill mowed 2 lawns. Thunder storm in evening.

Planted flower seeds. Wrote Uncle Berl. Fireman’s Field Days at Philadelphia. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. I sat in sun and got first tan this summer. There was a rainbow around the sun in a circle. Beautiful sight. Got card from Ruth in Mexico. 4-H Walk-A-Thon to Rodman.

Cop Doug Slade, 34, hurt bad on bike. Picnic and baptismal at Taylor’s camp. We didn’t go. Went to church. Went for ride Antwerp way and stopped at Aunt Maude’s. Dave and Kathy have part of wall form ready for cement. We went over to Bill and Brenda’s in evening. Nice day.

Nice day, 70°. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Boots has a sore hip. Aunt Maude called in evening. She talked with Mary Hall. Aunt Esther very low.

UMW at CEC. I went to hospital for blood test and then to Bible Study. I looked in on Aunt Esther. She died about 11 AM. Mom called in evening. Merrill worked at Horton’s

I called Arts and Brenda. Ordered flowers from NY Florist for Aunt Esther, $15. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for lunch. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Nice day. Hot 83°. Called Vern’s in evening. Jim brought me Amway water softener.

Merrill mowed the lawns. I made donuts. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Washed clothes. Merrill washed car.

4-H. Only 8 came. Aunt Esther’s funeral. Aunt Maude and Lila went with us. Merrill had machine head repaired at Talcott Falls, $19. TV wasn’t fixed. Will cost $35-40 Got graduation invitation from Terry Hall.

Very nice day. Hot. I did up ironing that has been collecting for weeks. Washed Merrill’s work clothes. Merrill worked at Horton’s. Got graduation invitation from Dennis Haggerty. Ruth Eg and Ronnie got home from trip.

We went to church. 4 graduates there. We ate lunch at Benton’s Restaurant. We went to Fays. Saw Jim there working. I got webbing for chairs. Got eye drops. Took pictures of Brenda and Bill’s place. Got album to send Uncle Berl.

Very hot all day. Tornadoes at Lorraine and Ellisburg at 7 PM. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper. Sent Blue Cross payment for May. Called Dr. Roberts. Blood test excellent.

Cold and windy. Last Bible Study until fall. I went with Ruth, Pearl, and Carol. Merrill went to Agway at city for motor for water pump, $36. He worked at Horton’s in PM. Mrs. Thompson called in evening to say TV is fixed, $33.49. We went after it in evening.

Rebekah’s, 14 out to it. I called at Philadelphia funeral home for Clara Hall Miller on the way to Lodge. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Cool and rainy. Washed my hair. Put color rinse on it.

Nice day. We went to Sackets Harbor. Had lunch at Jim’s. Merrill ordered blocks and lumber for barn at Lanphere. I stopped at Country Inn to see about Rebekah’s Banquet. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries in evening.

Flag Day. Merrill got cards from Vern’s. Merrill mowed lawns. Lanphere brought stuff for barn wall, $126.91. I baked pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread, molasses cookies, chocolate cup cakes and ice cream bars. Diane called to say Nettie Smith had willed Lodge something, PNG Jewel.

A nice day. Some wind and cooler. Rain in evening. Merrill finished working at Horton’s. I washed clothes and rugs. Called Mom in evening.

We went out to Moms for dinner. Uncle Lloyd came up for dinner. Don ate with us also. Rained about all day. Ken came to Mom’s as we were leaving. I called Roberta. Sunday School picnic today. We didn’t go to church.

Mom’s 82nd birthday. Merrill worked on barn wall all day. Wrote Vern’s. Pastor-Parish meeting at CEC. I went. Called Country Inn in evening to make reservations for June 20th, 15 to 20 people.

Nice day. Send Dennis H. $3 for graduation. Gave Terry $3 also. Merrill worked at barn wall. I washed dining room curtains, windows and woodwork. We went to Antwerp tax grievance board with Halls and Hales. Halls came in for coffee.

Rained about all day. Washed my hair. Washed clothes. Talked with Vi and Aunt Maude. Also Mary H.

PNG’s went to Country Inn, Sackets, 5:30. Some of us went to Sackets first. Went to museum. Stopped at Jim’s. Also Seaway on way home. Phone out all day. I went to Hales to use theirs in morning. Jim called Merrill in PM.

Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Jim, Pat and Jolie brought baby furniture to store. Told us they are expecting in February. Here for supper. Rainy. Merrill worked at barn.

We got notice they have lowered our assessment to $9100. Up $1600 from last year. $3150 land, and $5950 buildings. Rained off and on all day. Hail storm. Merrill started mowing front lawn. I went to Hales to call phone company. Georgia Blankenship’s 10th birthday.
