We went to city. Finished Christmas shopping in morning. Got case of grapefruit and oranges from FFA, $5.75. Saw Dr. Roberts in Westons. Eleanor called in evening. Mom has to go to Dr. Gardner’s Friday at 2:20

Called Aunt Maude in morning. Cloudy and rainy. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Snowed some off and on. Merrill went to Antwerp with Pat B to Northrups. Merrill put our candles and I put up Santa on door. got cards and notes from Beulah H and Mildred Beardsley.

Mary and Lynn’s 26th anniversary. Got three TV and Radio Mirror magazines. 4-H here. All here but Judy and Vicky. Diane Schell guest. We had second food lesson. Sent Roy birthday card.

Washed clothes. Merrill changed door for Carl Horton. Got more Christmas cards. I cut out blue knit slack suit.

We didn’t go to church. Very icy, sleet and rain storm. Took large limbs off every tree in front yard except dead elm tree. Power off over 6 hours in evening, 7 PM on. Put up Christmas decorations.

Merrill got most of tree limbs off lawn. Telephone man here to put wire back up. Merrill has a lame hip. Roy’s birthday.

Our 38th anniversary. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here for supper. Brought us set of 8 glasses and candy. Mom’s doctor apt. She canceled, as it was snowing so hard at Lorraine. Pat B called and invited us over for supper. We plan to go Sunday.

Cold. Rebekah Christmas meeting and PNG’s party at Lodge Hall, 7 PM. Covered dish supper. A nice evening. Esther had my name. I got Vi’s for 1974. Merrill worked at Horton’s door.

Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Stopped at Mary’s with her Secret Pal gift on way home. I left gifts for hospital and note for bulletin at parsonage. No one home. I painted 4-H tree decoration white. Merrill worked at Horton’s.

I finished 4-H tree ornaments. Snowed a little last night. I sent some more Christmas cards. Got letter from June. They are coming Christmas day. Washed clothes. Shampooed my hair and put color rinse on it. Merrill worked at Horton’s. Sleet and cold.

Philadelphia tree decorating etc. all day. We took 4-H decorations up in AM. Finished painting them at Georgia’s shop. Jamie gave me electric ceramic tree for Christmas that she made. Merrill worked at Horton’s. Very cold all day. I washed clothes.

We went to church. 92 out. We stopped at Pat’s and Lorraine’s for dinner. A nice day,. Cold all day. Terry here in evening.

Dumping station not working. Carl Horton helped Merrill take manure spreader apart. Very stormy all day. Snowing and windy. I made marshmallow fudge, Christmas cookies and cupcakes for shut ins. Wrapped 4-H gifts in evening, photo albums.

Got tree at Adderly’s, $4. Sent more cards. We went to city for spreader parts.I shopped at FBC. Very cold all day. Merrill didn’t get driveways plowed. I didn’t go to Bible Study. Decorated cookies and cupcakes for shut ins.

10 below zero this morning Patty and Jolie called. Merrill plowed driveways for first this fall. He went to Antwerp for a chain link. Got spreader working. Put up tree and decorated it. Washed my hair.

Packed shut in boxes, 1 PM. Lois and I did most of them. Vi came after school. She and Lois delivered some of them. Very stormy, freezing rain. Lots of accidents. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. Got groceries on way home.

Jim and Pat got new station wagon, tan color. 4-H party at Pickerts. 21 there. A very stormy night so several could not come. We took most of girls except Jamie. Merrill and I delivered rest. Very stormy all day. Roads slippery. I baked pies and Merrill got drain thawed out.

A beautiful day but cold. Merrill plowed driveways. Cindy Kelsey brought me rain hat gift. Cleaned house. Washed clothes. Wrapped part of gifts in evening. Sent last of cards out.

Mom called. Aunt Esther is back in hospital. Finished wrapping gifts today. Today would have been Donna’s 30th birthday. We went to church. Stopped at Halls on way home with Lorraine’s 4-H gifts. Very snowy in AM. Sunday School program at 7:30. We went. Made candy to dip after I got home.

Had our gifts to each other in evening. Christmas Eve Service, 8 PM. We went. Church full. Very nice service. Very cold all day. Merrill went to Mill and to Brenda’s. Sent Mom’s gift out with her. Dipped chocolate in AM. Sent Mom and Brenda some. Merrill took box of candy over to Halls, 3 pound box.

Vern’s and Jim’s got here about 2 PM. Jim’s here first. Very nice get together. Vern’s left their tree lights on so they had to go home. All left about 6:30 PM. Vern’s gave me Sunbeam mixer. Jim’s gave me nice beige slacks, gloves and pants. Dad got mostly clothes which he needed.

Our road terribly icy. Bob Eg went in ditch by Payne’s and couldn’t get up hill by Halls. They sanded about 11 AM. Merrill went up to work on Horton’s door in PM. I cleaned back room. Water came thru ceiling last night from ice. I got house straightened up.

Warmer. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill worked at Horton’s door in PM. Lisa B here to fill out 4-H report. Sent year’s program of work with it. Andy came home after being gone a week.

Cloudy day. Merrill clipped cows. I’ve had a lazy day. Made chili for supper. Gave Boots worm capsules.

A beautiful day. 37° in morning. Washed my hair. Made blue pant suit. Have hand sewing yet to do. Washed clothes. Merrill finished clipping cows. Windy in evening.

CEC is all paid for. Windy but nice day. We went to church. Went to city afterwards for eye drops. Got two bottles. Got printed sheets, 2 for $6. Claude Wilson announced that the Christian Education Center is all paid for.

I used my new mixer for first time to make an applesauce cake. It turned out good. Snowed about all day. Vi called a couple times. New Year’s Eve party at Claude and Leah’s. 12 there. Nice time. Got home at 2 AM.

Got home from Simonds at 2 AM. Charlotte and Ivan Hale Jr. have first baby boy born in 1974, named Chad Douglas. Lazy day. Slept in PM. Mom called in evening. Aunt Esther is still in hospital. Aunt Maude called.

Cold. Below zero in morning. Had Doc. Gillette, $15, for cow. She had dead calf. Took down tree and decorations. Got tax notice, $308.40, up $33. Washed tree skirt. Snowing in evening.

Merrill plowed out driveways. Snowed about 3 inches last night. Sent cards and letters to Ken and Aunt Esther. We went to Philadelphia for groceries in PM.

4-H here, 6:30. Had business meeting, 10 here. Nice day and night. June called in AM. They are coming tomorrow.

Merrill took Pat B to city for water pump for Pat’s car in AM. Cleaned floors. Vern’s got here about 2 PM. They brought bucket of chicken for supper. Spent a pleasant evening together.

Ken’s 54th birthday. Daylight saving time starts at 2 AM. No problems getting up. We didn’t go to church. Vern, June and boys left about 2:30. Snowing in late PM and evening.

Washed clothes. A very snowy day. Not much wind until evening.

Got note from June. They had bad road home on Sunday. A beautiful day but cold. Pat B was here. Merrill plowed driveway. UMW at Center. Week of Prayer and Self Denial program.

I didn’t got to Rebekah’s. Cold, snowy with some wind. Dawn’s 8th birthday. She had party in evening. Debby’s engagement is in Town and Country paper, to Richard Mark Golden.

Snowed about all day. Cold. Marguerite called about getting plant or flowers for Flossy White.

Still cold. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Snowing some all day. Nice at supper time.

Wrote to Uncle Berl. Laura and Dawn here to start aprons and pot holders. Nice day but cold. Took pictures outside for Uncle Berl.

We went to church. Good turn out. A nice day but cold. Aunt Maude called in evening. Today is Vicky Thayer’s 26th birthday.

Talked with Aunt Esther at hospital. We went to city to Social Security office and Blue Cross office. We have to go back. Stopped at Brenda’s. Jim, Pat and Jolie came while we were gone. Here for supper. Jolie was in bib overalls.

Very windy all night. 30°. Snowed hard most of day. I went to Bible Study with Ruth and Carol. Merrill worked at income tax. Got letter from Charlotte Tryon.

Cold. About zero all day. But a beautiful day. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill went to bank. We worked at income tax in PM. Wrote June. Sent Doreen card, letter, and $1. Jim goes to Vet Hospital in Syracuse for check up today.

Still cold. Cloudy. Made bread and rolls, Got check for hay from Payne’s.

Charles Rosbrook, 72, dead this morning. Nice day but cold. We went to church. Lois L called in PM to say Leon Dickson died this morning in Florida. He was out for walk. Helen found him. Glen Failing died in California.

PNG’s canceled this month. Most of schools closed because of ice and freezing rain. Windy. Merrill and Boots went to Theresa to bank. Got bolts for chair. Rained all day. Snow going fast.

I didn’t go to Bible Study. Wrote Beck Insurance. We went to Antwerp in AM. I got material for 2 pair pants. Jim, Patty and Jolie here for supper. Jim’s back is bothering him. Got letter from June.

We went to Social Security office. Went to Jim’s afterwards. Patty’s father was there. No Rebekah’s. Leon Dickson’s wake at 8 PM.
