Some better but rested most of day. Week of Prayer and Self Denial program at CEC but I didn’t go. Only 6 there. Got note from Beulah Hall. Sent check for church. Terrible snowy in south, even parts of Florida. Vernon Campbell died, 76.

Vicky and Jane here to sew. Washed clothes. Bob Griffin called to say Vernon Campbell died yesterday. Trustees to each give $2 toward guest book. Got letter from Uncle Berl. His new address is 1233 East Madison, Apartment B.

Got this diary at Woolworth’s, $1.99. Got toys for Boots. We went to church. Jim McEtherin guest speaker. Blankenships called Flaherty’s. They are in snow storm in Georgia. We went to Jim’s for dinner. They have done so much on their house. Mom called in evening,. First War Prisoner released today.

-12° in morning. Wrote Uncle Berl. Sent Valentines. Watched returning 142 POW’s on TV. They look good. Only 3 stretcher cases. Guild had exchange student at CEC, but I didn’t go. Very cold in evening. Got Valentines from Dan and Steve and Secret Pal.

Got check, disaster load, $4500. Warmer. Sent Mother T card and letter. Boots and I went to Philadelphia to bank and grocery store. Saw Helen and Carl in store. She said Mrs. Hagan, 89, died this morning at Mercy Hospital. Helen was out there. POW’s back on US soil. Merrill and I went to Lodge. Snowed a lot.

Payne’s got home from Florida. Mother Tryon’s 84th birthday. Windy and cold. We went to city in AM. Merrill deposited $4500 check at Seaway bank. They gave us lamps. We paid for feed at city. We went to funeral home for Mrs. Hagan. Mary went with us. Cold in evening. Very cold wind.

4-H Swim, 1:30. Mattie, Jamie, Vickie, Nora and Linda went. We went to McDonalds afterwards Nice day. Rosy was going to drive but we didn’t need her. Some kids couldn’t go because they didn’t sew.

4-H Dress Evaluation, Philadelphia Fire Hall. Jamie, Marie, Lisa, Donna and Angie got blue. Vicky, red. I took girls at 1 PM. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries in morning. Sent Dan card, letter, and $5. Snowing some. I stopped for coffee at Lorraine’s in morning.

Called Jim’s in morning. Beautiful day. We went to church. Jim McEtherin’s last Sunday as speaker. Three very good sermons. We went out to Bargain Center in PM. Stopped to see Dorothy Hogaboom. She has nice home.

Warm, 50°. I went to Philadelphia for groceries and bank. Esther and I got paint at IOOF. I brought it home, 8 gallon cans. Merrill and Boots went to Theresa. Merrill got boots at Pearl’s, $7.99. Also insulated underwear. Merrill washed car. Lorraine here in evening for almost 6 hours to sew.

Fran Saluris 48th birthday. Foggy in morning. Send Fran card. World Day of Prayer at CEC, 7:30. Nice service. 21 out to it. Made donuts and cake. Blankenships got home about 10 PM.

Rev. B. called. Raining in evening. Warm 55°. Fried donuts,. Washed. Got note from June. Called them at noon. They are coming next Saturday. Vic Hanson named to National Football Foundation Hall of Fame. He also was named to Basketball Hall of Fame. Only one other man so honored. Lorraine here to sew.

106 more POW’s arrived at Clark Air field. 271 released so far. Warm but very foggy. We went to church. Good to have Rev. B. back. Brenda may have rheumatic fever. We went out to Mom’s after church. Haven’t been out since we took her home, December 27th.

WSCS at Carrie’s. 16 there. Nice meeting. I went to Bible study. Cheryl had lesson. Very good. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here for supper. Got letter from June. Jolie went upstairs to toy box. Sent Uncle Berl card and letter.

Rainy and warm, 60°. We didn’t go to church. Lazy day but very nice. Vern, June and boys left about 5 PM. Planned to stop at Ken’s for beef. Called 4-H kids about dress review. Thunder and lightning in night.

Rebekah’s, Mary, and I went. I drove. Another great day. Dawn was over. Washed clothes. Called kids about going to dress review. Merrill put out bird house. June goes to Birch Hill Pennsylvania meeting.

4-H Dress Review. State building, 7:30. Mary took Jamie, Marie, Lorraine, Donna. Got home at 10:30 PM. Stopped at Puffs. 68° but cloudy. Rained in evening. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. I washed my hair.

Alison Egg’s 7th birthday. Snowed during night. We went to church. Wet and snowy but good turn out. Lazy day. Merrill slept all PM. Stopped at store. June get home today. Helen Keichel called in evening. We had a nice visit on phone.

PNG at Leah’s. I didn’t go. Snow plow was over but not much snow. Wrote Vern’s. We went to city for feed. I got rain coat, blue reversible at Weston’s, $15. Snowy and rainy all day. More snow at city. It is 7.9 miles from Brenda’s to here.

Bible study, I went with Anne. They have new blue Ford wagon. Sent for 10 Bic Pens, #1. Nice day but cloudy. They brought load of feed. Merrill got birthday cards from Mother T, Les, Uncle Berl, and Beth Orphans.

Merrill’s 64th birthday. Gave him shirt, chocolate rabbit. Sent Eleanor card and letter. Sent letter to Betty Graham. Jim and Pat called. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries.

Ecumenical supper at CEC. I didn’t go. About 45 there. Marg said Don got Juanita washer and dryer yesterday. I went to Bible Study with Ruth. They have new car. Roy and Marg here all day and evening. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here in PM and supper. Jolie is so sweet.

Frogs are hollering today. Sent reference to Camp drum for Sharon H. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Last of POW’s return home. I watched news conference with POW’s until 1 AM. We started cleaning yards. I got sweat shirt at Philadelphia, $3.49.
