Wrote Vern’s. Made cookies, fudge, and dipped chocolates. Millie Flood, 49, died today. Lyle S collected for flowers. Got card from Carl and Eve Scee. They are in California to stay.

Eleanor called and invited us for Christmas dinner. Wants me to get plane [?] for Garmon. I got one at Guens [?], $3. Got groceries. Got turkey for Christmas @.45, Butterball. Got several cards and letter from Uncle Berl.

4-H Christmas party at Wilmert’s. Nice time. Both clubs. Merrill went. All the girls there but Vicki and Sharon. Sharon was coming but she and Larry had accident on Elm Ridge Road on way. We called at funeral home for Millie Flood.

Donna’s 29th birthday. Millie Flood’s funeral. Wrapped all the gifts. Washed. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here to spend night. We kept Jolie, and kids went to Theresa with Ken and Brenda. Rest didn’t come.

Merrill cleaned with cleaner. I finished Mom’s dress and hat. Dawn was over. We didn’t get around in time for church. Jim, Pat ,and Jolie left about 10:30. We went to Christmas Eve Service at Evans Mills. Went to see Garmon at hospital in PM. Washed sheets.

Hal brought over gift. Washed curtains and clothes,. Vern called in morning. We went to Ken’s for dinner. Vern’s came there in PM. We all got to Philadelphia at 4:30. Mom came with us.

We had our Christmas together. Nice gifts. Cloudy day but no ice or snow. I gave Mom green dress I made her. Vern’s left about 4 PM. Jim’s left about 6:30. Got card and note from Pearl Fairgray. President Harry Truman, 88 died.

Cloudy but nice. We took Mom home in PM. Took Boots with us. I didn’t go to Lodge. Got card with note from Arlene Decker. Saw Mark Draper for first time, 4 1/2 months.

Snowed during night. Pres. Harry S Truman’s funeral in Missouri. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Also to Theresa. Got Merrill a shirt at Pearls. Washed clothes.

4-H Sewing. None of the kids came for help. Got letter from Dot. Merrill helped Matt on Sunday School House. Called Rev. B. about U.M.W. Cold, 18° in morning.

Merrill helped at Sunday School House. Lisa and Angie here to cut out aprons. We went over to Hall’s in evening, Played Yahtzee until 2:30 AM.

We went to church. Very rainy. Slept in PM. We went to Communion Service in evening. Went to party at Carl Horton’s. Nice time. Got home at 2 AM.

Got home at 2 AM from Horton’s party. Grand time. Windy Lazy day.

We took out tree. Took down all decorations. Merrill went to Mills and helped Matt in PM and evening. UMW at Vi’s. I started Study on India. Got tax notice, $268.01, up $58. Beautiful day.

Boots tore upstairs couch to pieces. I worked on UMW minutes and reports. Merrill helped hang door at CEC. I went to Bible Study at Parsonage with Ruth in evening. We went over to see Sunday School house.

Windy and rainy. My parakeet, “Chipper” died today. Men not working on house today. Sent Merrill’s accident insurance, $19.

Snowing some and windy. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Washed clothing in evening. Cleaned oven. Sent Ken card and letter.

Ken’s 53rd birthday. Sent WSCS reports. Sent money to Readers Digest and Newsweek for 50 weeks for $7. Marie here to cut out 4-H outfit. Cold all day, -10° in morning.

-10° in morning,. We went to church. Pledge Sunday. I cleaned house this morning with cleaner. Wrote Dot letter in evening,.

-20° at 8 AM. I worked at CEC all day. Merrill helped in PM. Below zero all day.

Dawn Taryn Hall’s 7th birthday. I went to Bible Study in AM. Worked at CEC awhile afterwards. Kitchen drain froze outdoors. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper,. Jolie is growing so fast. Warmer today. Got letter from June.

Wrote Vern’s. Worked at CEC all day. Washed in evening. Didn’t go to Lodge.

Very stormy in AM. Merrill took me to the CEC. Joyce and I papered ceilings. They ordered wall to wall carpets, $1500 from Haymonds [in] Antwerp. Merrill plowed driveways, ours, Hales and Halls.

I worked at CEC all day. Robert McNavin demonstrated cleaner. Bought Commercial cleaner for $214.95. WSCS. Very nice. Merrill went to Mills. Got groceries. Washed my hair.

Didn’t work at CEC. Baked pies, cakes. Beautiful day.

We went to church. Snowy day. Wrote letter to Uncle Berl. Elnora Lincoln’s wake. Rebekah’s went in a body. Mary and I went.

Worked at CEC. Papered just about all of front room. Joanne Preston, 32, took her life in garage. Her daughter found her at 1 AM. We went to Charge Meeting at church in evening. 15 there. Marian called for flowers for Joanne. Got letter from Dot.

Got letter from June. Went to Bible Study. Worked at CEC rest of day. Tired today. Got fire insurance down this year, $238.73. Due February 11th.

Marian Schell and I went to Joanne’s funeral. I worked at CEC in PM. Dawn over in evening. Beautiful day. 55°

Wrote Doreen, Worked at CEC in AM. We have it about finished. Got groceries. Cleaned house in PM. A great day. Almost 60°. Called 4-H kids in evening.

Doreen’s 16th birthday. Worked at CEC. Joyce and I finished back kitchen. Looks so nice. Raining. Merrill went up in PM to see Jim Hardy. CEC is about finished. Start carpets Monday. Bought refrigerator for CEC, $35 from C. House.

4-H here, 1 PM. Made out Simplified Reports. All here but Sharon and Brancatella’s. Washed clothes. Washed my hair. Cold wind.

Nice day but colder. We went to church. Just 0° at 8 AM.

Jim’s 5th anniversary as policeman. Windy, rainy day. Nice in evening. I went to PNG’s at Diane’s. Ex President Lyndon Johnson, 64 died of heart attack.

Cloudy day. Windy. President Nixon announced tonight that Peace Treaty with Viet Nam will be signed Saturday. January 27th at 7 PM. I went to Bible study with Ruth.

We watched Washington, DC service for President Johnson’s funeral all day. I went to Lodge with Mary in evening.

We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Nice day. Sold calf and cow to Trumble, $135. Mary Charles Hall gets out of Rome Hospital today.

Merrill went to Antwerp to pay taxes, $268.01. Got Boots first dog license, $2.35. Got letter from Uncle Berl. They move Saturday, 27th, 1233 Madison, Apartment B. On Lettie’s birthday.

Uncle Berl and Lettie move today. Washed my hair. Peace Treaty, cease Fire signed in Paris. Washed, cleaned. Names of 250 POW’s released to public.

We went to church. Snowing. Worked at draperies for CEC in PM.

Finished draperies. Windy and cold. Renewed Times for 6 months, $10.50.

I went to Bible Study. Ironed curtains. Jim and Pat called in evening. City and other places got lots of snow. Sun out most of day here.

-25° in morning but beautiful day. -10° all day. Did ironing.

Warmer. Cloudy. Went to Philadelphia for groceries. We put up draperies at CEC. They planned to finish carpet today. Merrill is getting a cold.

Wrote Mom. Very icy in morning. School closed. First time this winter. worked at CEC. Putting up draperies.

Went to CEC in AM to help clean kitchen floors. Waxed them. It all looks so great. Lorraine, Vicky, and Jane here to sew in PM. Vern called. They are coming tomorrow. Washed my hair. Merrill went to Philadelphia for groceries.

Snowing some. Vern’s got here in time for Church Consecration Service in new building. June brought meat loaf and salad. Jim’s came for Open House in PM. Also all here for supper. A great day. Steve and Dan brought us firewood.

Washed clothes. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. I’m getting a cold.

Went to Bible Study. Had it in CEC for first time. Helped set tables in PM for Charge Conference with Rev. Bird and wife and Evans Mills. Had it in CEC, 65-70 present. Nice dinner meeting.

I have horrid head cold. Rested most of day. Marie here to sew after school.
