Ken and Eleanor’s 25th anniversary. Went to Bible Study in AM. Pearl and I went to Antwerp and Gouverneur to fabric shops. I got material for slacks and skirts. Merrill plowed in PM

Made black and white slacks and skirt. Cut out blouse, red. Merrill plowed. Lanham brought Merrill’s insurance policy, accident. I went with Ruth to Bible Study at Parsonage. Got car license.

Nice day. I made red blouse. Have hand work to do yet on it and also on the black skirt and slacks. Merrill plowed. I got supplies from 4-H office. Merrill finished plowing.

Sent our Life insurance, $88.24. Also money for TB, Boy’s Town, and Bible seals. I went to Big M for groceries. Finished hand sewing on blouse, skirt, and slacks.

Sewing Lesson I for Beginners, 1 PM. all here but Sharon, Debby, Nora and Linda. Linda Dimon came. Jim and Pat and Jolie here in PM and evening. Jolie has her first cold. She is getting so big. Send Debby card, note and $1. Jim had fire in fire place. Roasted marshmallows.

My 54th birthday. Mom called in morning. We went to Church. It was full. Wilson’s granddaughter baptized. Rev. Jack Stanley preached. We went to Jim and Pat’s for dinner. Lovely dinner. Kids gave me box of candy. Jolie a cute card. Merrill gave me boots. Vern’s called in evening.

Council of Ministries. Merrill and I went. It was at Carl Horton’s. Only Bill, Rev B there. Several sick. Some out of town. Debby’s 12th birthday. Alice F and Lula R both sick .

Dr. Scanlon, 2 PM. My sight in eyes not as good. Pressure 8 today, Shopped at Sears. I went to Bible Study, only 10 out. Called Pat. Jolie’s cold better. Vi called and invited us for Thanksgiving.

No school. Jamie and Cindy here to cut out garments in PM. Made cinnamon rolls. Sent cards to Alice F and Lula R who are sick. Sent “no” ballot for 5 cent milk deduction

No school, Thanksgiving. We called Vern’s in morning. It was snowing down there. We went to Bill and Vi’s for dinner. Nice day. Lots of snowmobiles by here.

No school. Wrote Uncle Berl. T. Knox, Theresa pumped out septic tank, $32.10. I went to Theresa for groceries in morning. Washed bedding. Did ironing. Eleanor, Roberta, Holly and Jeff Weaver here for supper and evening. Had been shopping.

Made pies and brownies. made salad. Cleaned house and set tables for tomorrow. Rev B called. Washed my hair.

Jolie Elaine Tryon baptized by Rev Charles Blankenship at Philadelphia Methodist Church. Also, Bob LaFave’s son. Brian and Elaine Phillips were Jolie’s Godparents. 14 here for dinner. Vern’s came about 1:30. Audrey and Hacker, Phillips and Jim’s here. Jim and Pat went to Fays store party in evening at VFW.

Vern, June and boys left about 9 AM. They went to Syracuse shopping. Got letter from Mrs. Beardsley. Cleaned oven. Tried today. Snowing in evening.

Snow plow was over for first time this fall. About 10 inches of snow overnight. Roads very slippery. I went to Bible Study with Pearl. We went to city shopping. Got winter rubbers for boys. Two accidents near Mills. Merrill ordered snow bucket, $113.

We went to Theresa. Merrill got overshoes and underwear at Pearls. Merrill put new snow bucket on tractor and tried it out. Works OK. I called the minister about 4-H making paraments. I went to Bible Study with Ruth in evening.

Bobby Eggleston went into ditch out front. Below zero last night. Nice day but cold. We went to city Christmas shopping. Got Jim saw and Vern tools. Got live mum plant yellow, $1.25. Got felt for pulpit covers for 4-H to make. Leona Hall died in Gouverneur hospital at 8 PM today.

4-H Snowmobile lessons. Mary called to say Mrs. Hall died last night. Charlotte Hales here collecting for flowers. Anne Wilmert called twice. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill has a cold.

Merrill helped Carl Horton put up church signs. Got them all up except ones in front of church. I put up some Christmas lights and decorations. Washed clothes, cleaned house, shampooed my hair and put color rinse on it.

Merrill took tree limbs back to dump Today would have been Uncle Berl and Aunt Mildred’s 53rd anniversary. Pledge Sunday. Merrill’s cold worse. I went to Sunday School and church, Communion. Millicent and I went to Gouverneur funeral home for Leona Hall,. I called Mom in morning.

Wrote Uncle Berl. Mrs. Hall’s funeral at Gouverneur. Buried at Gouverneur also. Very slippery. Rained in PM and evening. I put up some more decorations. Vi entered hospital. Made Waldorf salad for WSCS tomorrow.

WSCS at Leah’s, covered dish 6:30. Millicent went with me. Nice time. I went to Bible Study.

Cloudy wet day. Merrill and I went to city shopping. Went to Sackets. Gave Jolie one of her Christmas presents, a pink and white snow suit. I went to Lodge in evening. Mary went with me.

I went to Philadelphia for groceries in AM. Decorated tree by garage for first time. Merrill went to Philadelphia and Mills. Raining so he didn’t put church signs up. Sent Roy card and letter. Sent card to Lula. Lee Hall not good.

Sent Uncle Berl and Lettie shirt, green, 3 piece towel set, writing notes. Sent Dot and Joe shirts and cases. Merrill finished putting up church signs. Lighted small tree by garage for first. Got card, anniversary and letter from June. 4-H here in evening. All here by 3. Made church banners. Terrible wind all night.

Our 36th anniversary. Power off from 6:30 AM -1 PM. terrible all over. Anne and Bob Eggleston have baby boy born at 8 PM. Darrell Patrick, 6 pounds. Merrill and I took paraments up to church and put them on pulpit. Look nice. Stopped at store. Addressed cards in evening.

We went to Sunday School and church. Went out to Mom’s afterwards. No snow out that way either. Called Grace M in morning. Mother T is feeling some better. We got Christmas tree at Freddie Aynes, $3.50. Did cards and notes in evening.

I went to city Christmas shopping in AM. Just about finished. I have horrible cold. Worked at cards. Called Evelyn., Debby and Joe March broke up 3 weeks ago. No snow anywhere.

PNG’s at Leah’s, 6:30. Turkey, I gave money. Minnie P had my name. My new Pal is Lois W. Good time at Bible Study. Sent most of Christmas cards. Wrote notes in most of them, Patty called. She’s coming to sew Saturday. Snowed in evening.

Sleet in AM. Very windy in evening. Thunder and lightning in PM. Wrapped Christmas gifts most of day and evening. Merrill clipping cows. Very icy in St. Lawrence County. Got several cards. Sent some more. Vi’s birthday.

Put up tree and decorated it. Looks nice. Went to Big M for groceries. Quite windy in AM. Sent a few more cards. Made cookies in evening.

4-H Christmas party here. Both clubs. 48 here. All had nice time. Hank S and Evelyn led singing. Snowed hard by spells. Roads slippery. I got several nice gifts. All 4-H er’s present but Debby Hall. She is working at Gouverneur.

Colder. Got several more cards. Cleaned house. Feel lazy. Pat didn’t come. Mary and Aunt Maude called. Below zero in evening. Addressed cards. Got letter from Dot. They got package.

Sharon’s 18th birthday. We went to church. Went to Elmer and Josie Langto’s open house for their 50th anniversary. Snowing hard in PM. Roads slippery. Christmas program at church in evening. It was beautiful. Bobby Griffin star in The Littlest Angel.

Cloudy day but warming. Got note from Eleanor. Wants us to come for dinner Christmas. Made dipped chocolates and pumpkin bread. Helped pack shut in boxes in PM at church. Cheryl brought us gifts in evening.

No Bible Study. We went to Wolcott. Stopped at Vern’s for dinner and coffee on way home. Christmas lights so pretty coming home. Saw Kessel, Grace and Merrill saw Elmer at gas station. A few snow flurries coming home. Got letter from June.

Rebekah Christmas meeting, 6:30 covered dish supper. Nice meeting but hall was cold so came home early. We went to Gouverneur in PM. Stopped to see Clara Wallace on way home. Sent Donna card, letter, and $1. Down to zero in evening. Got letter from Uncle Berl.

Called Jim’s. Jolie has tooth, first. Christmas vacation starts. Got cord of wood from Dema’s son-in-law, $7. Cut dead elm for us, $8. Merrill sold 6 heifers to Leland Shannon for Harry Gleason $1300. Allan Keichel, 10, killed by train accident. Paul Keichel hurt. about 4:15. Got 5 lb cheese from Milk Plant.

Sent card to Keichels. Made Birthday layer cake and decorated cookies. Cleaned house. Washed clothes. Washed my hair. Vi called. They go to Martha’s tonight. Vic Delles in hospital. Rainy. Snow all gone now. Christmas Eve service at church. We went. Had our gifts to each other in evening.

Invited to Ken’s for dinner. We went. Bowman’s and Mom there also. Mom came home with us. We stopped at hospital to see Paul Keichel. We went up to Keichels in evening. House full. Casket was open. A green Christmas Day. Last one was in 1964

Alan Keichel, 10, funeral at 2 PM at church. We didn’t go as we had our Christmas here. Vern’s got here about 10 AM. Jim’s at 11 AM. Aunt Maude spent day with us. All got nice gifts. Jim’s left about 9 PM. A nice Christmas. Had Jesus birthday cake. Steve read Christmas story.

Vern’s and Mom left about 9:30. They took Mom home to Lorraine. Cloudy day. Raining and freezing on in evening. Lazy day. Got 3 Christmas cards. Arlene, Evelyn, and Pearl.

No Bible Study. Roads glare ice in AM. Sun out in PM. Gehm’s and Jan and girls at Vern’s for Christmas. Got a card from Gees from Florida. Got invitation to New Years party at Horton’s.

Marie G here to cut out 4-H outfit. Very windy most of day. Talked with Cheryl H and Vi. Merrill clipped cows.

Hal’s 13th birthday. Sent in film. Snowing and blowing. Starting about 10 AM. We went to Philadelphia for groceries.

Bill and Vi here to see the New Year in. Bar-B-Q hamburgers over fire. Vi and I went to city shopping. We stopped by Jim and Pat’s. Pat was taking down Christmas decorations. Got yellow dress material. Zero degrees in morning.

Got to bed at 2 AM. Nice evening. Sleepy day except for snowmobiles. Jim, Pat and Jolie here for supper. Jolie is so cute and sweet. She had new Christmas swing out here.

Mrs. Hogan 88 today. We went to Sunday School and church. Lots out. Started snowing about 8 AM. Snowed all day. Very wet. We took down tree and decorations and put them away. 35° in evening.

Cleaned house. Marva called to ask me to teach Esther’s class at Released time. got Christmas pictures back. Good. Merrill went to Theresa for furnace door cement. Put some on furnace. Got invitation to shower for W. Graham’s girl friend this Friday.

Bible Study. Good turnout. Good to be back. Got tax notice, $210.72. WSCS at Marguerite. Week of Prayer and Self Denial program. Nice program but only 9 out to it. Marion Schell called to ask us to go to couples club with them.
