Merrill finished drawing manure for awhile. Glad to be rid of the smell. Jim and Pat here in PM and evening. Brought Merrill box of candy for Father’s Day. We played cards in evening.

Church picnic. We didn’t go to church. 4-H picnic at Brown’s Park, Canada. About 60 there. Nice day and nice time. Lots to eat. Called Aunt Maude in evening. Cheryl is good. Rained in evening. Gave Merrill shirt and pants for Father’s Day.

Eleanor called at 10 AM to say she was bringing Mom to hospital. I met them there at hospital. Stayed all day. She may have appendicitis. Raining hard all day.

PNG’s outing, 6:30, Cold Creek Inn. 20 PNG and Cathy went. Cathy, Lois, Leah, and I drove. My car loaded. I didn’t go to Bible study. I went to hospital all day. They moved Mom to room. Nellie Hodge, 84, died today.

New Woolworth Store opens today. Merrill sowed Sorghum. We went out to hospital in PM. Mom has to have surgery in morning. Called Ken’s and Uncle Len’s and Jim’s. I didn’t go to lodge. Last meeting till fall.

Raining. I went to hospital about 10 AM. Mom had a bad night. They put drainage tube in her nose. Saw Dorothy Tibbles Ball at hospital. Mom’s roommate Mrs. Moore, died on operating table.

June’s birthday. Washed clothes. Went to Philadelphia for groceries in PM and I mowed lawns. Uncle Len and Betty here for dinner. I went to hospital about 4 PM. Stayed until 8:30. Merrill worked at barn getting it ready for US Inspection.

We went to church, Communion. Merrill and I went to hospital after church. Vern and June came so I came home with them. Stayed all night.

Vern’s left about 9 AM. He called from hospital. Mom feeling better. Her IV taken out of arm. Sent Merrill’s accident insurance, $20. Sent $2. to Town and Country. Wrote Uncle Berl. Merrill hurt arm in calf pen. Run nail into it. I didn’t go to hospital. Eleanor called in evening from hospital.

I went to hospital at 11:45 AM. Got home at 8:30. Mom sort of uncomfortable but coming good. Juanita and Brenda there in PM. Merrill finished cultivating corn. Sent $3. checks to Susan and Vicky Puffer. I have used eye drops one year now.

We went to Theresa in evening. Merrill got shoes. Merrill started barn sill. I went to hospital about noon. Got home at 7 PM. Mom good. She got into tub and couldn’t get out. Orderly lifted her. Patty went to doctors. Dr. Bill to be away for a week. Jim works tonight then off for 2 weeks.

Church started at 9:30. We got around in time to go. We went out to the hospital in AM and also PM. We went to Sackets. We took Patty to dinner at Sackets Inn. Jim had to work at Fays. Don and Dave at hospital. Don gave me $100 to use for Mom’s hospital bill.

4-H Field trip to Pepsi Cola Plant and park, 11 AM. Mary took a load. Rosie G brought my load home. Marie had doctor’s apt so only got to Park. All 4-H members present. I took Mom home from hospital about 2 PM. She is quite weak yet. Got 15 quarts berries from Juanita.

Wrote Mother T and Vern’s. Mike Shelmidine, 19, was killed last night. His car hit a horse. Blankenships started for Georgia this morning for 4 weeks. I washed, cleaned and baked. I went out to Mom’s in the evening. Stayed all night. Stopped to see Patty and Jolie on way. Mom not too good.

Lottie Mae Lays died, 74, Massena. Got home from Moms at 11:45 AM. Got in 2 1/2 loads of hay before it rained. Stopped to see Patty. Baby has slight case of jaundice. They can go home tomorrow. Annie S. Hoppe in same room. She had baby girl this morning. Elmer and Leslie called. Melba had gall bladder out.

It is in today’s paper that (Mom’s twin), Lottie Mae Lays, 79, Massena died July 13th. She was in Mom’s room at hospital. We mowed lawns. I made triple batch of fried cakes. Called Jim’s in evening. They went to hospital to see Jolie. Still under light. Howard was over in evening. Drawed one load of hay.

Nettie Smith’s birthday, 81 years. Jolie 1 week old today. They took her home from hospital this morning. Jim called at noon. Gary and Chris Ashley have baby boy born at 7 AM at Bay hospital. Today is Chris Ashley’s birthday. Church put on Alumni Banquet at Legion. I didn’t work but gave gallon of milk.
