Merrill finished drawing manure for awhile. Glad to be rid of the smell. Jim and Pat here in PM and evening. Brought Merrill box of candy for Father’s Day. We played cards in evening.

Church picnic. We didn’t go to church. 4-H picnic at Brown’s Park, Canada. About 60 there. Nice day and nice time. Lots to eat. Called Aunt Maude in evening. Cheryl is good. Rained in evening. Gave Merrill shirt and pants for Father’s Day.

Eleanor called at 10 AM to say she was bringing Mom to hospital. I met them there at hospital. Stayed all day. She may have appendicitis. Raining hard all day.

PNG’s outing, 6:30, Cold Creek Inn. 20 PNG and Cathy went. Cathy, Lois, Leah, and I drove. My car loaded. I didn’t go to Bible study. I went to hospital all day. They moved Mom to room. Nellie Hodge, 84, died today.

New Woolworth Store opens today. Merrill sowed Sorghum. We went out to hospital in PM. Mom has to have surgery in morning. Called Ken’s and Uncle Len’s and Jim’s. I didn’t go to lodge. Last meeting till fall.

Merrill cultivated corn. I went to hospital at 7:20. Mom had operation at 8 AM for appendicitis. Marg and Roy came in morning. Eleanor there all PM and evening. I stopped at Patty’s shower at Elaine’s.

Raining. I went to hospital about 10 AM. Mom had a bad night. They put drainage tube in her nose. Saw Dorothy Tibbles Ball at hospital. Mom’s roommate Mrs. Moore, died on operating table.

June’s birthday. Washed clothes. Went to Philadelphia for groceries in PM and I mowed lawns. Uncle Len and Betty here for dinner. I went to hospital about 4 PM. Stayed until 8:30. Merrill worked at barn getting it ready for US Inspection.

We went to church, Communion. Merrill and I went to hospital after church. Vern and June came so I came home with them. Stayed all night.

Vern’s left about 9 AM. He called from hospital. Mom feeling better. Her IV taken out of arm. Sent Merrill’s accident insurance, $20. Sent $2. to Town and Country. Wrote Uncle Berl. Merrill hurt arm in calf pen. Run nail into it. I didn’t go to hospital. Eleanor called in evening from hospital.

I went to hospital at 11:45 AM. Got home at 8:30. Mom sort of uncomfortable but coming good. Juanita and Brenda there in PM. Merrill finished cultivating corn. Sent $3. checks to Susan and Vicky Puffer. I have used eye drops one year now.

Washed clothes. Defrosted freezer. Merrill worked at hay rack. Aunt Maude and I went out to see Mom in evening. She is feeling much better today. Called Aunt Keitha. Very hot all day. Thunder storms about 12 PM. Very humid.

Humid, rainy. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill worked at hay rack. Finished it and ready to paint.

We went to Theresa in evening. Merrill got shoes. Merrill started barn sill. I went to hospital about noon. Got home at 7 PM. Mom good. She got into tub and couldn’t get out. Orderly lifted her. Patty went to doctors. Dr. Bill to be away for a week. Jim works tonight then off for 2 weeks.

Merrill worked on barn all day. He put shingles back on. I mowed all three lawns. Washed my hair. Sent Mom’s letter to Edie and Lloyd Wallace in Michigan.

Church started at 9:30. We got around in time to go. We went out to the hospital in AM and also PM. We went to Sackets. We took Patty to dinner at Sackets Inn. Jim had to work at Fays. Don and Dave at hospital. Don gave me $100 to use for Mom’s hospital bill.

Jim’s 2 weeks vacation starts. Merrill mowed first hay this year across road from house. I painted hay rack red. Hot and muggy all day.

Rained hard in morning. We went to city. Merrill got plugs at Talcott Falls. Mom had bad day yesterday but better today. Jim and Pat here for supper. Bowman’s called from Canada. Mrs. Marion Phelps died this morning.

4-H Field trip to Pepsi Cola Plant and park, 11 AM. Mary took a load. Rosie G brought my load home. Marie had doctor’s apt so only got to Park. All 4-H members present. I took Mom home from hospital about 2 PM. She is quite weak yet. Got 15 quarts berries from Juanita.

Drawed 13 loads of hay, first this year. Froze berries. Dd most of Mom’s wash, 25 aprons. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Washed my hair in evening. Wrote Uncle Berl letter in evening. Tractor generator not working.

Hair appointment 6:30 PM. Got it cut short. We went to city. Merrill took tractor generator to be fixed. We drawed 1 load of hay. Blew wagon tire. We saw Gary P at Fays. He said Pat having pains. Jim called at 4:30. They were at Elaine’s. Jim and JoAnne called about 9 to say Patty went to hospital at 8 PM

Jim called at 2:30 AM to say Patty had baby girl at 1:40. 7 lb, 5 oz. Both good. Named her Jolie Elaine. We went out to Mom’s. She’s not too good. Had flowers sent to Patty from NY Florist. Stopped at hospital. Baby looks like both of them. Called Vern’s

We went to church. Horton baby was baptized. Lots of their relatives there. We went up to see Patty and baby. Pat has a slight temperature. Can’t see baby. Merrill mowed some hay. Jim Schell’s had horse show. Cool today but nice day.

Wrote Mother T and Vern’s. Mike Shelmidine, 19, was killed last night. His car hit a horse. Blankenships started for Georgia this morning for 4 weeks. I washed, cleaned and baked. I went out to Mom’s in the evening. Stayed all night. Stopped to see Patty and Jolie on way. Mom not too good.

Lottie Mae Lays died, 74, Massena. Got home from Moms at 11:45 AM. Got in 2 1/2 loads of hay before it rained. Stopped to see Patty. Baby has slight case of jaundice. They can go home tomorrow. Annie S. Hoppe in same room. She had baby girl this morning. Elmer and Leslie called. Melba had gall bladder out.

Sent money, $8.03 to NY Florist. Rainy day. We went to Mom’s all day. Patty went home from hospital but Jolie couldn’t go. They have put her in incubator with special light. She has A-negative blood. Pat’s is O-negative and Jim’s A positive.

It is in today’s paper that (Mom’s twin), Lottie Mae Lays, 79, Massena died July 13th. She was in Mom’s room at hospital. We mowed lawns. I made triple batch of fried cakes. Called Jim’s in evening. They went to hospital to see Jolie. Still under light. Howard was over in evening. Drawed one load of hay.

I sent my Secret Pat, Nettie S, $2 for her birthday. Cloudy all day. Hay to damp to bale. Just got part of a load. Washed clothes. Washed my hair in evening.

Nettie Smith’s birthday, 81 years. Jolie 1 week old today. They took her home from hospital this morning. Jim called at noon. Gary and Chris Ashley have baby boy born at 7 AM at Bay hospital. Today is Chris Ashley’s birthday. Church put on Alumni Banquet at Legion. I didn’t work but gave gallon of milk.

Rev. Pilbeam preaches. We went to church. Was good to hear Rev P again. 45 out. Mother T and Leslie here when we got home. We had dinner and then went to Jim and Pat’s. Jolie is so sweet. Pat’s mother and Hacker there also. Jim loves to help take care of baby.

I went out to Mom’s all day. Cleaned her floors. She is much better. Ernest Pitt was buried yesterday, Ken’s went. Rained hard all PM. Called Uncle Len in evening. Also Aunt Maude. Merrill sent cow and calf to sale. PNG go to Marge S camp. I didn’t go.

Dr. Scanlon, 2 PM. No change. $15. Got Toni perm with curlers, $4.11. Wrote Pearl Pitt. Put Mom’s card of thanks in Times, $3. Got new flag, $4.50. Merrill drawed 2 load of hay alone while Iwas gone. We got part of load in evening.

Sent $300 to Master Charge. Nice day. Cool. We got letter from Edie Wallace, Battle Creek. I sent it on to Mom. Wrote her note. We finally cleaned 12 acres across road. 29 acres yet to do. I went to Philadelphia to bank. Got groceries.

Gave myself a Toni. We drawed first 2 load of hay from 17 acres. Hot today. Hay cures good. Waxed kitchen floor in evening. Washed white clothes.

Hot. We drawed 2 1/2 loads of hay. Jeff and Hal helped get 1/2 load. I cleaned floors. Waxed around rugs in dining and living rooms.

Thunder storm during night. I sent Don birthday card and note. Howard Hall gets done work at Deferiets. Sulphite Mill closed down. I made 2 pumpkin and 1 cherry pie. Merrill put screen in cellar window. Rained about all day. Merrill mowed lawn by house.

Mrs. Myrna Halstead, autoharp. She was very good. Only 28 out to church. I took Fair Blanks and cards to 4-H kids after church. I called Pat from Philadelphia pay phone. Jim working at Fays today. Phone man fixed our phone about 4 PM. We went to Mowers trailer at Clayton in evening.

Jefferson County Fair starts. Mary and I took 4-H kids. Got home at 12:45. Sharon, Debby H and Lori S didn’t send exhibits. We drawed 2 loads of hay. It rained in evening. Thunder storms.

Real cool day. Merrill raked hay and mowed last of 17 acres but it was too damp to draw. Washed my hair in evening. I got baby shower invitation for Vicky Thayer, August 6th.

Got letter from June. Wrote them. Sent card to Blankenship’s in Georgia. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. We drawed 2 load of hay in PM and 1 after chores. Was 10 PM when Merrill got in house. I called Mom in evening. Eleanor took her to doctor today. She is coming good.

4-H Day at the Fair. We went but it was raining hard out there. We went to Sackets. Jim wasn’t home. Jolie is growing. Took them some taffy. They gave us Jolie’s picture taken in hospital at one week old, the day she went home. Saw John, Helen, and Carl Keichel at Fair.

Foggy in morning. Cleaned in AM. We drawed last load of hay from back 17 acres field. Made cake, brownies, and cranberries. We went to Philadelphia for groceries in evening. Scott and Aldrin landed on moon safely, Apollo 15.

Vern’s came. Mom came with them. They took Steve to doctor at hospital with sore ears. Inner ear infection. Jim and Pat and Jolie came in PM. Jolie’s first visit here. She is so sweet. Evelyn and Dawn over in evening. Mary H took 4-H kids to Fair for exhibits and checks. Raining

Vern preaches at Philadelphia and Mills. A wonderful sermon. Merrill went with Vern to Mills. 41 out to church. We had turkey dinner. Aunt Maude and Cheryl here in evening. Cheryl goes back to work in the morning.

Merrill mowed first hay back of ledge. Rained in evening. Mom and I went up to Aunt Maude’s in PM. Took Vern’s Master’s thesis to Mrs. Riley to read.

Raining. Merrill and I mowed lawns. Mom and I went to Dexter and Sackets. Aunt Keitha, Marion, and Jean in NH at Dorts. Had lunch at Jim’s. Stopped at cemeteries. Got letter from Uncle Berl .

Wrote Uncle Berl. We drawed first load of hay back of ledge. Merrill mowed hay. Wrote Uncle Berl note. Sent Lodge check to DDP Neuwrath Pres. Gift. Bought 3 cukes from Hal, 30 cents. Washed my hair in evening.

Sent Cindy birthday card. Merrill mowed and raked hay. We drawed two loads. Mom and I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Aunt Maude called in evening.

Cindy’s 10th birthday. Shower for Vicky Thayer. I didn’t go to it. I took Mom home in morning. Got back at 10:30 AM. We drawed 3 load of hay. Merrill raked some. Diane called to say she and Leah were having party for Helen Dickson, Monday evening.

We drawed two loads of hay, 12 acres yet to do. Big hay mow full. Hot today. Washed clothes. Aunt Maude called. Astronauts made safe landing on 2 parachutes. One didn’t work. Apollo 15. Used new flag for first time. Washed my hair.
