Cloudy but warmer Vi and I went to city shopping all day. Vi drove. Got beige pant suit, $7. Merrill built fence all day. Got Mom record of Berl Ives religious songs. Called Jim’s from city.

FAA Banquet at school, 8 PM. Got home at 10. Worked in kitchen. Had beef. Guild put it on. Merrill went to Mills for water bucket. Raining all day about. Rained all night also.

Made reservations for Past Grands outing at Cold Creek Inn for June 22. Wrote Mary L and Sharon about 4-H. Nice day but cold wind. Cleaned house. Merrill built fence. Got cards and letters ready in evening to sent tomorrow. Sun out most of day.

Sent Mother’s Day cards. Wrote Dot. Nice day, 65°. Vi and I went to city after she got out of work. Saw Jim and Pat at Fays. Got Pat slacks, and blouse for birthday. Merrill built fence. Got invitation to Brenda’s shower from Angie and girls.

4-H here at 6 PM. 8 present, 4 absent. Lori S joined. Dropped Mary L and Sharon. Real nice day. Warm 65°. I washed, cleaned yards etc. Merrill built fence. Talked with Aunt Maude.

Elmer Gleason’s auction. Rained hard all PM and evening. I went to Philadelphia for groceries in AM. We went to Theresa in PM. I got blue slacks at Pearls. Washed my hair in evening. Made salad for tomorrow.

Mother’s Day. Beverly M has baby boy. We went to church. Jim and Pat came for dinner. Brought me slippers for Mother’s Day. Grace M called to say Aunt Cora had stroke last Wednesday. She and Mother T are coming this week. Gave Pat birthday gifts, also baby things. Gave Jim shirt.

Beautiful summer like day. Merrill built fence. He got limb off tree by living room. I washed clothes. Talked with Esther about Mother and Daughter Banquet. Merrill mowed lawn by porch for first time this year. Jim and Pat’s 2nd anniversary.

Bible Study. Good turn out. Took canned goods for Steele family. Merrill built fence all day. Marion S called to say 4-H glads and rose bushes are in, and to be picked up in morning. Beautiful summer like day. I sat in sun. Vern called in evening. Planted zinnias by flag pole.

Rebekah’s. Was late as some went to meeting on new Mills school. Marion Schell and I went out to 4-H office for rose bushes and glad bulbs. Raining most of day. Off and on at night. Merrill built fence. Delivered some of rose bushes and bulbs.

Mother and Daughter Banquet at 6:30 PM. Huge turnout, 132. Mrs. Pilbeam and Mrs. Hutchinson there. Mrs. H sang. Marva guest speaker. I had charge of kitchen. Marion S here about roses. Sure a mess. Got Brenda and Bill’s wedding invitation.

Got groceries at Philadelphia. We went to city. Met Vern’s at Carrolls. Brought boys home while Vern and June went to church conference. We went down to Jim and Pat’s awhile. There place looks so nice. Vern’s left about 8:30. Sent Pat birthday card.

Pat’s 24th birthday. I planted rose bushes by garage. My parakeet, Blue Boy, died during the night. Got him January 14, 1969 at Grants, $3.29. He could say about 35 different words. Rev. B brought 4-H bulletins. I went to Philadelphia. Took Jamie rose bush. Wrapped shower gifts. Merrill built fence.

Rebekah Assembly starts. Mary H. left at 9 AM. 4-H Sunday. All the kids went but Sharon H. Very nice service. Rev. B there also. Brenda’s shower at Angie’s. Patty went with me. She got a lot of nice gifts. Merrill mowed lawns. Postage goes to 8 cents and air mail 11 cents.

PNG Carrie’s. 13 out. I took visiting church to Hubbard’s. Aunt Maude there. Merrill finished building fence, finally. Jim and Pat here for supper. They brought me nice little blue parakeet chirper.

Beautiful hot, 79° day. Merrill plowed garden. Finished his plowing and fitted over oat ground. I planted gardens, and some glads and zinnias. Put out umbrella. Don Gehm had gall bladder operation.

Merrill fitted ground all day. Real hot, 80°. I washed clothes. Merrill turned cows out for first time, both day and night. Merrill worked garden. Cleaned back room. Set up crib. First time in this house. 95° at Massena today. Record high for US.

Thunder storms all day. Rainy. We went to city to Fays and Seaway. Got tape and white plastic fence and window box. Put new plastic tape on lawn chair. Got green dotted swiss for dress @.99 cents. Mary H got home from Rebekah Assembly.

Cooler. Washed my hair. Put color rinse on it. Merrill worked at oat ground. I set out petunias. Called Mary Hall. She had a nice time at Assembly. I cut out mint green dotted swiss dress.

Don Gehm’s birthday, 60. Nice day, but a cold wind all day. 50°. We mowed all 3 lawns. Merrill fitted ground in PM. I put plants in window box by hand railing. Made corn flake cookies in evening.

Telephone out in evening. Reported it again. Rainy again. Merrill finished fitting oat ground,. Sent both our life insurance. Sent Don Gehm belated birthday card in hospital. Cathy Dugman and Antwerp girl missing since yesterday. Jim and Pat here for supper. I went to Council of Ministries at Taylor’s.

Cloudy and rainy . They found 2 girls, Cathy D in Montreal safe. I went to Bible Study. Not as many out. Merrill planted oats, 9 acres. He got rained on. Finished after milking. I went to bank. Got garden seeds. Got letter from June.

Wrote Vern’s. Rained about all day. Washed my hair. Washed clothes. Merrill sent suit to cleaners. He went to Theresa. PNG’s Night at Rebekah’s. Covered dish supper at 7 PM. Sina and 5 kids and Shari Rudes put on program. 12 PNG’s there.

Christian Women’s Luncheon at city. I went with Ruth, Marva, and Alice. 220 there. Nice program. Mrs. Nay, Aldersgate, speaker from Sulfur Springs sat at our table. Merrill put new faucet on bathtub, $6.90. Rained about all day.

4-H here, 7 PM. Field trip to Indian Pot holes and reforesting grove. Merrill fitted on corn ground. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. I went to city in AM. Got bedspread for Brenda and Bill, green and white. Debby Hall went to Senior Prom.

WSCS and Altar and Rosary meeting 6:30. Covered dish. Nice evening. 43 in all. 21 Catholics and 23 protestants. I planted garden in PM. Went to Bible Study in AM. Mrs. Carrie Ryan died today. John Keichel in California on way home.

Another nice day. Four days milk in tank. They picked it up in PM. I finished 2 piece dotted swiss dress. Rained in PM and evening. Marion S called. Also Vi. Merrill went to Depauville, Burrville, and Talcott Falls to see about scoop for tractor.

Dark and rainy. Rained all night. I went to Martha’s to plan Father Son Banquet. Joyce, Dawn, Esther also. We are having ham. 51 policemen have been killed so far this year. I went to Marian’s in evening to plan 4-H outing.

I had tooth filled in PM, $5, at Dr. Sommers. Rained hard in evening. I got head net, green at Philadelphia. Called Patty. They have bought a ‘58 station wagon, $60, 60,000 miles, 1 owner. Washed my hair in evening. Made Jell-O for Brenda’s reception. Mrs. Harold Hayden, 77 died today. Heart attack.

Brenda Hanson and William Draper married at Lorraine Church. Lovely reception and wedding. Girls,and Dave looked so nice. Lots of lovely gifts. Vern’s and Jim’s there, also kids, 4 grandmothers. Mother T, Leslie and Grace came soon after we got home Had been to Aunt Cora’s.

Mother, Leslie and Grace left about 11 AM. We didn’t get to church as we didn’t have time to make it. Nice day. Merrill mowed lawn by house. I sat in the sun. Also weeded flowers. Aunt Maude called.

Vern’s plan to bring baby furniture to Jim’s today. Rebekah’s. I went. Washed clothes and bedding. Made all the beds up fresh. Mother T’s neighbor called in evening about curtains. Merrill worked at corn ground.

Rev. B and Marva’s 10th anniversary. Merrill and I went to city. Took barrel for WSCS to be shipped to Marjorie Mills in Africa. Cost $8.50 to send by Byrnes truck. Merrill paid it. Called Patty. Called Aunt Maude. Cheryl goes in hospital Tuesday at carthage for cyst operation.

4-H Indian Party, 4:30. Jamie “Big Chief”. All here but Sharon and Debby H. Nice time. Mary brought down cup cakes in evening. Bertha Gleason, 10, S Carolina guest. We started planting corn for first. Agway spread fertilizer on corn ground.

Arlena Reynolds and Leland Shannon married. We planted corn most of day and evening. More to do. Talcott Falls insurance man brought new manure loader in AM. Took over 3 hours to put it together, $552. Tricia Nixon and Ed Cox married today.

Student Sunday. 7 graduates present at church. Quite a few out to church. We went for ride in PM. Stopped at Aunt Maude’s. Oxbow church had a service at Pulpit Rock today. We finished planting corn in evening.

Nice day. I worked in garden. I mowed lawn by house. Merrill mowed center lawn. Merrill went to Talcott Falls to pay for Loader. He got new hose for it. I washed clothes in evening Washed my hair.

Father and Son Banquet, ham, 7 PM. Not many out, about 35. I got home at 9:45. Cleaned. Bible Study. Last meeting at church until fall. Cheryl goes into Carthage hospital for operation tomorrow. Merrill drawed manure all day. Kay Taylor’s 19th birthday today.

Mom’s 79th birthday. Beautiful day. I went to city. Met Jim and Pat at the Globe store. They got baby things. I got Mom radio for her birthday. Got Merrill shirt and pants for Father’s Day. Merrill drawed out manure.
