We went to city for groceries and paint at Sears. Stopped at Mary and Lynn’s on way home. Renewed Life magazine for 25 months, $11.95. Jim went back to work tonight.

World Day of Prayer. It was postponed last week. Not too many out but a nice program. Music program with kids, great. I finished tearing off wall paper in dining room. Merrill got hair cut at Philadelphia for first time. Got shower invitation for Chris Sabo.

Got 4-H report ready for Margaret Gingerick [?] to read at PTA Monday night. Lazy day. My eyes not good from watching slides last night.

Wade’s 2nd birthday. We went to church. A beautiful day, 50’s. Called Mom in PM. Vern, June and boys were up there this PM. Called 4-H girls in evening about Dress Review.

FFA Banquet. 90 present. I worked in kitchen. Got home at 10:45 PM. Washed my hair. No PNG this month. Sent Roberta letter, card, and $1. Sent Nettie card. Snow going fast. Everything flooded.

Dr. Scanlon 2:30. Everything OK. I went to Bible Study at Jane’s, about 20 present. We went to Garn’s. Got Ben Franklin stove, $145. Saw Roy and Marg at Sears. Aunt Keitha is coming home from Cathy’s this month. 4-H Dress Review in evening. Debby, Mary, Sharon, I didn’t go, sick. Good crowd.

Roberta’s 19th birthday. I painted new book case. Garn’s delivered Ben Franklin stove. Hearth had a crack in it. I called Garn’s about it. Blue boy, bird, is talking again and acts well again after a week or so.

Nice day but cool wind. We went to city. Changed cracked stove hearth at Garn’s. Called 4-H kids about Demonstrations. Called Patty. Jim went back to work last week Thursday. Has Sunday and Monday off. Got invitation to Open House for John and Elaine Hockey, April 3. Jim and Pat’s deed in Times.

Chris Sabo’s shower. I didn’t go as it started snowing hard in PM. Painted dining room ceiling. Looks nice. Rupert Davis got 35 bales of straw, 30 cents. Snowed hard all evening. Merrill got birthday card from Roy and Marg.

Still snowing. 8 inches this morning. Plow was over in morning. Marie Gleason here in PM to work on her 4-H Demonstration. Nora and Lorraine didn’t come. Washed clothes. Washed my hair in evening. Aunt Keitha got home from California.

We went to church. Good crowd out. Jim and Pat came in PM. Merrill got holes made larger for chimney. We had first fire in new stove. Jim started it.

Merrill’s 62nd birthday. He worked on base for stove. Evelyn brought us two sheets of hard board from Mills, $14.31. I painted in dining room. Council on Ministries at Marguerite Beach. Didn’t get home until 11:45. I had two teeth filled today, $10. Merrill got several cards. Also letter from Gladys L.

Bible Study at Marva’s. Big turn out. Also about 16 kids. I finished painting dining room. Merrill went to Theresa for gas and cat food. Merrill got several more cards. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Started second fire in stove in evening.

I started papering dining room. Looks nice. Merrill finished stove base. He went to Mills for nails for it. Mary and I went to Lodge.

Sent Eleanor, Juanita, and Donnie cards. Merrill got card and letter from Ken’s. Finished papering dining room. Hallway yet to do. Got invited to Gary Ashley’s reception.

Donnie’s 1st birthday. Merrill got card and letter from Don’s. Brenda wants Merrill to give her away if Don won’t. Merrill finished chimney for stove. He went to Philadelphia and Mills. Rupert Davis got rest of straw. Cleaned.

4-H Dress review at Carriage House. No one from our club went. 4-H here. Business meeting. Lorraine, Marie and Nora did demonstration. Took shower gift, Chris Sabo’s, to Aunt Maude’s. Washed clothes in evening. Washed my hair. Tired tonight. Merrill took car to Theresa for wash job.

We went to church. MYF boys started as ushers. Larry Cross in charge of them. We went out home after church. Jim and Pat out there also. Snow banks still high out there.

We finished papering hallway. Sent card to Ruth Schell in New York hospital.

We went to city to get machine top welded. I got watch, S&H Green stamps, 5 books. Debbie Hall’s 18th birthday. Also Bob Flaherty’s. Got fireplace set at Garn’s. Youth Lenten Service, 9 PM. Debby went with us. We had cake and ice cream at Halls when we got home. Saw their kitchen for first. Beautiful.

Demonstration Day. IRC 6 PM. I was a hostess for it. Marie, blue, and Lorraine, red, demonstrated. Sharon was room hostess. Wrote Vern’s. Nice day.

Vern’s called in morning. Came about 1:30 PM. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Sent Dave card, $1. We enjoyed fireplace in evening. Toasted marshmallows for first time. Raining in evening.

Dave’s 17th birthday. Rainy all day. Snow melting fast. Vern’s left about 4 PM. Planned to stop at Jim’s. We gave Vern’s $23.10 for half of 3 months diaper service for Patty. Vern’s part, other half.

Sunday School paper drive. Gary Ashley and Chris Sabo’s wedding. Jerry Ashley’s 6th birthday. 25th anniversary open house for Edna and John Hackey at Ogdensburg. I washed dining room curtains, drapes, and windows. Washed clothes. Cleaned house.

We went to church. 6 children baptized. They uncovered and dedicated new literature rack in corner. Palm Sunday.

Initiation at Antwerp. I went with Mary. All very nice. 2 Natural Bridge candidates. Merrill put new valves in upstairs toilet. He went to Theresa twice.

Bible Study at church for first time. Too many for homes. Not quite as many there today. Jim and Pat here for supper. They went to Toby’s in evening to have income tax figured. I went to WSCS at Carrie Thompson’s in evening.

Got Easter cards ready to send. Nice day but cold wind. Merrill washed car. Also fixed mailbox flag.

We went to city for groceries. Took out some clothes to dry clean. I got green sneakers, $2.27. Communion service at church. Good turnout. Nice service. Evans Mills people there also. Got Easter cards from Vern’s.

Warm today. Merrill tried to make road back in pasture. Snow too deep. He went up to bank in AM. Vi called in PM. We are going out for dinner after church.

Ground covered with snow again. Today would have been Dad’s 79th birthday. Baked cookies. Patty called in evening. They are going out with us for dinner tomorrow.

Easter Sunday. Beautiful day. I went to sunrise service. Didn’t stay for breakfast. We went to church. Nice sermon, church full. Bill and Vi, Jim and Pat, Merrill and I went to Harold’s Music Box for dinner. Nice place. Shopped at Fays. Got eye drops.

District meeting at Carthage, Natural Bridge. Supper 6:30. I went with Mary. Frogs are hollering down in pasture for first. A beautiful spring day, 65°. I hung clothes out doors for first. Merrill went to IOOF at Philadelphia. Norma G had baby girl at 11:15 tonight.

Bible Study at church. Good turn out. Rev. B is in Georgia for Uncle’s funeral. Raining all day. Merrill went to Bob Griffin’s to trustee’s meeting in evening. Voted to get new furnace for church, and also fix parking lot.

Rebekah’s Card Party after Lodge, 8 tables. Made $313.25. on it and raffled clothes hamper, blankets, and sheets and cases. Merrill went to card party. Also Lynn Hall. Ground covered with snow in morning. Melted in PM.

Birds are at bird house for first this year. They are later this spring. Cleaned house. Cold wind all day.

4-H Pie Time, 2nd lesson. Debbie, Lorraine, Marie, Jackie, and Judy. Sue Bates guest. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. Located tractor scoop at Brown’s. Snow flurries off and on all day. Most of it melted.

Nice but cold. I went to Philadelphia for groceries in morning. Merrill changed winter to summer tires. Merrill started cleaning lawns. Still very wet. Got 4-H seeds in mail.

Beautiful day. We went to church. Drove out to Fays after church. I got swag lamp, amber, for stairway. Merrill got work shoes, $12.95. Jim and Pat here when we got home. We had lunch and then played cards. Jim had to work in evening.

Sent money to M & M for stove. Sent light bill. Merrill went to Mills and ordered fence posts. Got letter from Dot M. First one since last October. Beautiful day. Washed clothes. PNG at Aunt Maude’s. Merrill cleaned lawns.

Discovery Group in AM. I went down to see Mrs. Beardsley in PM. Nice visit. Merrill cleaned on lawns. Rained in evening. Baby sat at parsonage in evening so Marva could teach evening Bible Study. Got letter from June. Don Gehm quite sick .

Rainy. Wrote Vern’s. Lazy day. Marva called. Merrill worked a little on lawns, but was too wet to rake.

Sent Don Gehm card and letter. I have lost 13 pounds. We went to city. I got items at Plaid Stamp Store… double boiler for Brenda. bunting for Pat and Jim. We went to Sackets Harbor but kids not home. Went over to Aunt Keitha’s. She looks good.

Nice day but cold wind. Merrill built fence. I baked pumpkin pies, shells and cake. Washed my hair. Washed clothes.

WSCS Conference at First Methodist 9:30-3:00. I went with Vi, Lula, Lois W. and Esther. Carrie went also. Nice luncheon and meeting. Snowed all PM but melted here. Ground white in city.

Rainy and cold. We went to church. Not as many out as usual. Fast time at 2 AM this morning. Lazy day. Had fire in fireplace.

Toby’s 27th birthday. Council of Ministries at Alice Flaherty’s. Rained about all day. Thunder and lightning some.

Still cold, north wind. Bible Study. Decided to have a group prayer at 9:30 AM….That God’s will be done concerning the liquor store by the church.

Rebekah’s. I went with Mary. Got letter from Mrs. Beardsley. Rained about all day. Made orange cake and 6 cupcakes. Made donuts to fry.

Cloudy and cold. Rainy. Fried donuts. We went to city in PM. Got groceries. Merrill got case of oil at Fays. I called Cold Creek Inn for N Grand outing. Dinner $2.50 and up.
