Beautiful day. We went to church. Went to Charge Meeting at church in PM, 2:30. Got home at 5:30. Budget for 1970 paid in full with about $350 left over. Marty Rudes has baby girl, Danielle Sheldon.

Marva called to ask me if I would have Bible Study here tomorrow. Baked pie and cookies. Merrill helped clean stove pipes at Lodge. Jim M here in morning., Called Mrs. Beardsley in evening. Sent taxes, $160.60. Sent L [?] insurance, $54. Called Vern’s.

Bible study here. 16 present, also about 10 kids. Rainy, snowy, day. Mrs. Mildred Beardsley here to meet Merrill. Went after her. Got Fire Insurance $275. Jim and Pat here in PM. Didn’t eat supper with us as they were going to Pastor’s for supper. Stormy in evening.

Very cold, windy with blowing snow. All schools closed. Stormy all day. I didn’t go to Lodge. Wrote Uncle Berl. Sent 2 Readers Digest entries (contest). Hattie McKeever, 86 died about 9 PM.

5 below at 7 AM. Cold all day. We went to Jim and Pat’s. Took her slacks to her. Couldn’t get drops at Fays. [They] Are mailing them. Got groceries. Very stormy Oswego way. Hazel Graves, 80, died tonight.

Very stormy. Schools closed. Rebekah Service for Hattie McKeever. I didn’t get to it as the driveway was full. Terrible windy in evening.

Hattie’s funeral at church. We didn’t go. Very bad blizzards all over state. Nothing moving in AM. No mail. Rebekah’s went for Hazel Graves. I didn’t go. Too stormy.

Hazel Graves funeral at funeral home and church. We went to church. Lots out. 0° in morning. Stormy Adams, Sandy Creek way. Moon shot got off ok, but had docking problems later on.

0° at 7 AM. Nice day. Sent sympathy cards for Hattie McKeever and Hazel Graves. Merrill got hair cut at Theresa. I got eye drops in mail. Stormy Adams way. Jim sprained ankle playing basketball.

Nora and Linda here to sew in PM. Peggy and Kenny here in evening. Bible Study at Eileen’s. 18 out to it. I went to WSCS at Leah’s. 14 out. They voted to start memorial fund at church. Each organization to give $1.25 each time some member dies. Mary Hall went to hospital.

Space shot going OK. Nice day but cold. Started letter to June and Vern. Mary H had operation.

Wrote Vern’s. A and G Heating (Parker) Theresa cleaned furnace in PM, $12. Mrs. Beardsley called about UPW of Oxbow. Jim and Pat here for supper. Jim sprained ankle playing basketball Monday night.

Sleet storm. No school Allen Shepherd and Edgar Mitchell landed on the moon at 4:17 AM. Walked on moon for over 4 hours. Our power went off at 11:40 AM and didn’t come on until 11:15 PM. Couldn’t milk or do any work.

Merrill got up at 4 AM to milk. He didn’t’ go to bed last night. Terrible windy and snowy during last night. Marie Gleason here to sew in AM. Nora and Linda here in PM to sew. Had supper with us. We went to Philadelphia for groceries at noon.

Saw 2 crows today for first. Nice day. Second day of fish derby at Sackets. Derby not as large as last year. We didn’t go to church. Went out to Mom’s. Took chicken dinners with us from Carrolls. Snow banks high out there. One way traffic from Adams up. Brenda and Bill getting married June 5th.

Chili Exchange Student at Guild meeting at Martha’s. I didn’t go as it was snowing and blowing. Merrill plowed driveways. Milk truck got off driveway. Sent Marg Hall card and note. Washed c lothes. Cleaned house. First in 2 weeks, Made brownies.

Bible study at Judy VanTassel’s. 16 out. Very stormy. Made out income tax returns. School out early because of storm. Driveways full again. Bad earthquake in California, Los Angeles section. Many killed.

Rebekah’s. Called off because of storm. Sent income tax, $242.63. Very stormy. No school. Terrible all day. Merrill didn’t even clean barn. I baked pies, rolls, and donuts.

Sent for wall paper. Merrill plowed out driveways again. Georgia brought Jamie’s and Hill girl’s garments. Called other kids about garments.

Took 4-H garments to city. Debby and Mary, and Sharon didn’t sew this year. Merrill and I took garments for 10 members. Got eye drops at Fays. They gave me new bottle in place of one mailed as it might have froze. Called Pat and Jim. Jim back to work but not feeling good. Mary Hall came home from hospital.

Wrote Mother T and sent birthday card. Sent Nettle valentine. Wrote Vern’s. Snowing hard again. Terrible stormy day. Everything plugged again.

Church canceled because of snow. Merrill worked all forenoon just plowing out lower driveway for milk truck. Hasn’t opened other one. Called Jim’s. Jim can’t work for 10 days. Has to have therapy treatments on his back.

Charge Conference at Philadelphia. Merrill and I went. Mills there also. Rev. Bird in charge. 15 out. No mail. Washington’s birthday new date. Merrill plowed out driveway by garage. He shoveled a lot by hand. Shoveled out walk. Washed clothes. Baked cookies.

Picked up 4–H garments. Jamie, Nora, Linda, Debbie and Jackie got blue. Sharon, Lorraine, Marie, Judy and Vicky red. PNG’s at Elsie’s. Nice time. We went to city. Had coffee with Jim and Pat. Jim’s back better. He is taking turkey home. Mother T’s 82 nd birthday. Got card from Uncle Berl. No quake there.

Lazy day. Evelyn called about hemming her coat. Snowing again in PM. Got wall paper for dining room. Nice. Aunt Maude called in evening. Roy Pitkin had auto accident. No one hurt.

I met with Martha and Joyce at Joyce’s to plan FFA Super. Car wouldn’t start so I was late. Warm and thawing today. Lots of water. Jim and Pat here for supper. Jim’s back very bad. Went out on way here. He couldn’t stay all night. Vern called in evening. Are coming tomorrow.

Merrill took car to Gouverneur to get points and plugs, $34. Vern called. Steve is sick so they can’t come tonight. Got letter from Mother T. Cleaned house.

Raining. Froze on in evening. Very icy in AM. We went up to Philadelphia for groceries. Rev. Blankenship here to call for first time, 2 1/2 hours. Nice visit. He brought Handbook for Council on Ministries. Aunt Maude called in evening. Washed my hair.

We went to church. Went to Aunt Maude’s for crochet book for June. Ate lunch with her. Marshall and Gary there awhile on snowmobiles. Vicky is pregnant, September.

Council on Ministries at Griffins. 14 members present. Carl Horton only absent one. Wrote June and Uncle Berl. Sent Dan card, letter, and $1. Called rest of 4-H girls about meeting and flower ordering. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Sent clipping of quake.

Bible Study at Ruth’s. Only 10 out. Weather bad. Kids home from school today. Got letter from June. Plan to come this Friday. Marva couldn’t get bed in hospital for operation.

Merrill helped clean closet at church. 4-H here for pastry lesson. All here but Mary and Sharon. Lodge in evening. DDP Beatrice Hubbard made official visit. Dorothy and Eva Williams with her. Marva B went to Mercy Hospital.

Snow in early morning but a real nice day. Debby brought over Evelyn’s coat to shorten. Cleaned house. Sent card to Marva. Made cake. Filled pie shell. Called Jim’s. Can’t go back to work for 2 weeks. Kenny Rudes in hospital with his back.

Vern’s didn’t come. Jim called in evening. They were coming out if Vern’s were here. We went up to Philadelphia in AM for groceries. Beautiful day. Sent letter to Assembly President Elizabeth Lee about DDP Bea Hubbard.

Raining in AM. Beautiful day later. Sent Kenny’s card to Marcy Hospital. He is in traction with his back. I fixed Evelyn’s coat, shortened it. Merrill took it over to her. Vern called from city. They are coming to Jim’s tomorrow. I washed my hair.

Power off for four hours during night, 1-5. very windy. We went to church. A beautiful service. Marva came home from hospital. We went to Jim’s. Vern there also. Took Dan birthday gift. Jim worked at Fays yesterday and today. Very, very bad coming home. 10 car pileup. Over 30 people hurt.

A nice day again. I made apple pie to take to Parsonage. Vi and I took the Visiting Church Service to Ruth Schell. Ruth has lost 24 pounds. Sent Fran card and note. Merrill went to Lodge in evening. Election of officers.

WSCS at Marguerites. 12 out. Got home at 11:20 PM. Bible study at Esther’s. Nice turnout. Marva there. Sent $1 and resignation to NFO for Merrill. Made a shrimp salad.

Washed clothes. Snowing some in PM. Roads slippery. Mrs. Beardsley called in evening. Talked with Mary. Mrs. Hall likes it at Redwood Nursing Home.

Started dining room. Canceled IOOF at Redwood. Terrible storm. Porch full of snow. FFA Banquet at school canceled. All schools closed because of storm. Worst storm of the year. Milk truck got this far. Only thing by house. Pat and Jim called. Pat has negative blood. Cut hole in chimney. Tin rusted out.

World Day of Prayer canceled because of roads and parking due to storm. Plow over at 9 AM. Philadelphia plow didn’t come over today. Can just get through Philadelphia end. Lots turned around at town line. Merrill worked all AM plowing driveway, 4 hours.

Beautiful morning with lots of clean snow and frost on trees. Blue sky. 50 above in morning. Sent Uncle Berl card and letter. Got one from him. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill went to Mills for lumber for book case, $16.25. Aunt Maude called.

Rainy and snowing in morning. We didn’t go to church. Cleared in PM. Merrill worked at book cases. Girl Scout Sunday.

Cut and washed my hair. Another very stormy day. No school. No mail. Milk truck picked up 4 days of milk. Snow emergency called because of all roads plugged. Merrill finished book case. Looks nice. Margaret G called and asked me to take part in PTA report. Joe Frazier beat Cassius Clay, 15 rounds.

Bible Study canceled. Antwerp, Philadelphia plows over at midnight last night. No school. Sent fire and wind insurance, $72.55. 4-H Dress review changed till next Tuesday. Merrill plowed out driveways in AM. Martha called to say FFA Dinner will be March 15th. Got thank you card from Marva.

Rebekah’s. I’m on committee, crackers, cheese, cookies. I didn’t stay for supper as it was snowing. Nice day in AM. Uncle Berl’s birthday. Jim and Pat here for supper. They took Mrs. Hall to Gouverneur Hospital tonight. Got letter from Beulah Hall.
