WSCS Christmas meeting at Esther’s. Covered dish supper at 6:30. Exchange gift. Election of officers. Esther new Pres. Minnie V Pres. Leah, Treas., I’m Secretary. Elmer Gleason’s barn burned about 6 PM. 17 cows burned. Bob F got lost in woods. They found him at 2:30 AM. Was OK.

I taught Bible School class for Esther. We went out to see Jim. He is coming good. Pat was there. She put dent in fender on Chevrolet. A beautiful day. Like summer, but rather windy. Called Mom. Also Aunt Maude in evening. Her cold is better.

I went to city Christmas shopping all day. Saw Jim at the hospital. He may go home tomorrow. The weather is like summer. Merrill finished plowing. Got first Christmas card from Freddie, Mary, and Joanne Tryon.

Rained in evening. Froze in morning so everything covered with sheet of ice. Marilyn’s baby shower. I didn’t go. A big limb broke off tree by lilac bush. Power company cut it down. The two guys came in for coffee. Very cold, windy and snowy. I put up some Christmas decorations.

Sunday. We went to church. Pledge Sunday. $4. and $5.. Very stormy Adams way. Snowing here. Wrapped gifts in PM. Jim went home from hospital today

Sent Uncle Berl’s package. Smoking jacket, blue. Lettie, towels. Sent Dot and Joe gloves. Jim and Pat called. Jim got home from hospital yesterday. I put up rest of decorations. Got 3 Christmas cards. Merrill went to Lodge. First time in ages.

Bible Study at Anne’s, 10 out. We planned to go to Jim and Pat’s but was too snowy. We went to Theresa and Philadelphia. Got several Christmas cards.

Rebekah’s Christmas party. 16 out. Stove wasn’t working, so we came home early. We had a covered dish dinner. Rained about all day. Merrill plowed out driveway. sent first Christmas card to Jim and Pat. Wrote Roy and Marg.

Roy’s birthday. We went to city shopping. Saw Gary, Kenny, Pauline, and Garmon. Nice day but cold. Talked with Jim. Didn’t see Patty. She was out to lunch. Railroad strike started at midnight. We got a Christmas tree at Carolyn Schell’s, $3.50

Our 35th anniversary. We went to Jim and Pat’s in evening. They had an anniversary cake for us. Gave me big box of candy. Merrill peanuts. Also nice card. Brian, Elaine and Tammy there also. I cleaned house. Merrill started clipping cows. Jim Mattison here in evening.

4-H here. 10 here, 3 absent. Planned Christmas party at Halls. Merrill helped take out gas furnace at Lodge Hall. Jim M and Lawrence R cleaned upstairs. Got letter from June. Wrote them today.

We went to church. A wintery day. Snowed about 5 or 6 inches during night. I started Christmas cards. Wrote several notes. Aunt Maude called.

I washed rugs. Merrill put new wiring on stove at Lodge Hall. Got letter from Uncle Berl and Gladys. Addressed cards in evening. Washed my hair. Sent part of Christmas cards.

PNG’s covered dish ham dinner and Christmas party. I went for meeting. Zelda had my name. My new Pal is Nettie. Jim and Pat here for supper. Jim can’t go back to work for 2 weeks. There new furnace works great. Bible study at Jane’s. I went with Ruth.

I have horrid cold. Feel punk. Very stormy. All schools closed. Mail went late. Got several cards and letters. Merrill spent PM cleaning out driveway.

I’ve been in bed about all day. Got several cards. Karen M. called. They aren’t coming up to make dipped chocolates. Car not plowed out. Merrill helped put railing in at Lodge Hall steps.

4-H party at Halls. Very nice party. All there but Mary Landon. About 38-40. Set up tree but didn’t get it decorated. Made cake for party. Fixed bags of candy for kids. I get perfume, 2 towels, key ring, dish and scarf.

Sharon Hall’s 17th birthday. Sent rest of cards. Made Christmas cookies all day. Fixed 31 sacks for shut-ins. Vern and June called in evening. Decorated Christmas tree. Got several more out. Rained all day. Colder in evening.

Boys and girls 4-H clubs went on hay ride and carol sing on this road. Eddie Graham drove tractor and wagon. Jim called in morning. They are coming Christmas day instead of eve. We went to church. Went to Christmas program in evening.

Cold. Merrill went to city shopping. He got his hair cut at Theresa. I made fudge and peanut brittle. Washed my hair. Sent last Christmas card. Mary called. Mrs. Hogan in hospital. Mrs. Hall very bad.

Bible Study at Ruth’s. 8 out. No study next week. Cold and stormy. Roads very icy. Queens gave us 5 pounds of cheese for Christmas. School got out today for vacation. Sent Donna birthday card and letter.

Donna’s 27th birthday. Stormy in evening. Merrill plowed out driveways,. I made dipped chocolates in evening. Didn’t go to Lodge. 5 above today. Merrill took small tractor tire to Mills. Got new tube for it.

Warmer today. We went to city for groceries. Got few more gifts. Saw Kenny and Toby at Seaway. We went to Christmas candlelight service at church in evening. A very beautiful service. Debby was over in PM. We had our gifts in evening.

Light snow off and on, 20°. Jim and Pat here for dinner, 2 PM. They went up to Patty’s mother in the morning. We all got nice gifts. Merrill pants and underwear. I got dishes, candy, bath oil and pinking shears. They gave me a mixer but took it back as Merrill gave me one. Lots of snow for Christmas.

Washed clothes. Made pie and cakes. Merrill cleaned upstairs. Made up beds. No mail today. Got stuff ready in evening for church dinner. Marguerite called.

Covered dish dinner at church. About 25 there. Not many out to church. Nice dinner. Vern’s came right after we got home, about 2 PM. Storming hard at Oswego.

Cold. Vern’s car wouldn’t start. We went to Theresa to Pearls. Went up to Aunt Maude’s in AM. Vern had eye appt. with Dr Scanlon at 3:30. His eyes ok. Patty had first appt. with Dr. Ball. Boys stayed here while Vern and June went to city.

We had our Christmas together. Jim and Pat got here about 10:30 AM. Howard, Evelyn and Dawn came over in PM. Had dessert with us. Jim and Pat left about 7:30. June gave me gold and brown afghan she made.

Vern and June and boys left about 10 AM. Cold and below zero. Vern’s car wouldn’t start. We went to city. Took back sweater to Globe. Couldn’t find another one.

Did my hair color rinse. Marie G and Vicky here to sew in AM. I fixed Elmer’s coat. Washed clothes. Vi called to ask us up for New years eve. We spent the evening with them. Got home at 1:30. Merrill called A & G heating about cleaning furnace. Will be two weeks. 51° and 40°. Raining all day. Vi, Florence and Angie here.

Brenda and Bill Draper engaged. 4° below zero when we got home from Bill and Vi’s at 1:30 AM. We went out to Mom’s. First since Nov. 8th. Ate at diner with her. She gave me $5 for my birthday. I took her plum pudding June made her. I made hard sauce for it.

Mrs. Hagan’s 87th birthday. They had card shower for her. Sent her card. Also Elsie B and Hattie McKeever. Took down tree and decorations. Marie and Vickie here to sew. Vicky finished apron. Got tax notice. $160.68. Much warmer in evening.

30° in morning. We went to church. Gave Vi check $10 for Reconciliation Fund for 1970. BCI Investigator Frank Feigel, 41, killed in plane crash at Longways Diner. Sheri Feigel’s father. She went to State Fair with us.

Raining. Started skirt and slacks for Pat. Aunt Maude called. Washed my hair in evening. Wrote Dot Medina and Ken’s. Sent Carrie T card. She broke her wrist.

WSCS at Vi’s. Week of Prayer and Self Denial program. I didn’t go to WSCS. Very icy and stormy all day. Cleared some in evening but windy and icy. Sent cards and letters.

Washed clothes. Ironed. Merrill went up to Lodge Hall to help Carl K. Ken’s 51st birthday. Sent list of WSCS officers to Service Center.

Still cold but nice. Snowy. Adams and Sandy Creek way. I haven’t felt good all day. Pain in side and back. Merrill met with nominating committee at Leah’s in evening. He got home at 11 PM. Sent Merrill’s accident insurance, $19.

I have a sore side. We went to city for eye drops and groceries. Saw Jim at Fays. Patty wasn’t working. Got letter from Vern’s. Vern may fly to Maryland to see Dr. Maley.

I’ve been in bed all day. Stomach terribly sore. Cold. Below zero in morning.

Warmer. We didn’t go to church. Ken’s here for 3 PM dinner. Roberta had girl friend from college, Pat. Sheri Fiegel 9, with them also. Ken’s left at 6:15 PM.

Wrote Vern’s. Washed my hair. Tired today. Called at 2 PM to get dentist appointment. Got in at 3 PM to have filling put back. Cost $5. Didn’t freeze it. Clipped cows.

Bible Study at Margaret’s. Pearl P went with me. It was an excellent meeting. Cold all day. Merrill, Carl K, and Jim M put up chimney pipe at Lodge Hall. Jim and Pat here for supper. 15° below at bedtime.

Jim and Pat’s house closing, 10 AM. Got letter from Mrs. Beardsley. Cleaned house. -20 below at 7:30 AM and 3 above at 2 PM. Merrill went to Lodge. Good to have both stoves going but still cold in hall.

Warmer, but rainy and freezing. Made out WSCS Evaluation reports and got letter ready to send for World Day of Prayer program, $3. for 50.

Sent Reports [and order] to World Day of Prayer. I went to Philadelphia in morning for groceries and to bank with Lodge books. Got letter from June. Vern goes to Maryland next Tuesday, Jan 19th.

-10 below zero. Merrill finished feeding ensilage. Silo empty. Merrill started working on income tax. Got letter from Uncle Berl and Lettie. Dot not very good.

12° below zero during night and this morning. Got up to 18 above during day. We went ot church. Quite a few out despite cold. Lazy day.

PNG’s at Diane’s. I didn’t go. Too cold, -14°. Cold all day. Wrote Doreen. Sent her card and $1. Beulah Congdon’s birthday. Brenda’s engagement is in the paper today.

Doreen’s 14th birthday. Vern flies to Maryland at 7:30 from Syracuse to meet with Dr. Maley and committee. Got home in evening. Bible study at Joyce’s. Very nice meeting. 16 out. Aunt Maude called in evening.
