WSCS Christmas meeting at Esther’s. Covered dish supper at 6:30. Exchange gift. Election of officers. Esther new Pres. Minnie V Pres. Leah, Treas., I’m Secretary. Elmer Gleason’s barn burned about 6 PM. 17 cows burned. Bob F got lost in woods. They found him at 2:30 AM. Was OK.

I taught Bible School class for Esther. We went out to see Jim. He is coming good. Pat was there. She put dent in fender on Chevrolet. A beautiful day. Like summer, but rather windy. Called Mom. Also Aunt Maude in evening. Her cold is better.

I went to city Christmas shopping all day. Saw Jim at the hospital. He may go home tomorrow. The weather is like summer. Merrill finished plowing. Got first Christmas card from Freddie, Mary, and Joanne Tryon.

Rained in evening. Froze in morning so everything covered with sheet of ice. Marilyn’s baby shower. I didn’t go. A big limb broke off tree by lilac bush. Power company cut it down. The two guys came in for coffee. Very cold, windy and snowy. I put up some Christmas decorations.

4-H party at Halls. Very nice party. All there but Mary Landon. About 38-40. Set up tree but didn’t get it decorated. Made cake for party. Fixed bags of candy for kids. I get perfume, 2 towels, key ring, dish and scarf.

Warmer today. We went to city for groceries. Got few more gifts. Saw Kenny and Toby at Seaway. We went to Christmas candlelight service at church in evening. A very beautiful service. Debby was over in PM. We had our gifts in evening.

Light snow off and on, 20°. Jim and Pat here for dinner, 2 PM. They went up to Patty’s mother in the morning. We all got nice gifts. Merrill pants and underwear. I got dishes, candy, bath oil and pinking shears. They gave me a mixer but took it back as Merrill gave me one. Lots of snow for Christmas.

Brenda and Bill Draper engaged. 4° below zero when we got home from Bill and Vi’s at 1:30 AM. We went out to Mom’s. First since Nov. 8th. Ate at diner with her. She gave me $5 for my birthday. I took her plum pudding June made her. I made hard sauce for it.
