Lawrence Welk band has been on TV 15 years Lila and Jim’s 25th anniversary. Cloudy, rainy day off and on. Cleaned in late PM and evening. Jim came in PM. Patty working. We had steak cook out but ate dinner in house. Kids left about 6 PM. Jim left about 5. He had to work.

Cloudy, rainy day. A lazy day here. Didn’t go anywhere. Jim’s first Sunday off. He has Sun. and Mon. now and Pat has Mon. and Tues.

Beautiful day. Merrill baled part of load of hay. Mowed some more. I washed clothes. Also washed my hair. I got Christmas pictures from film. Ironed clothes in evening. 200 bales of hay in barn. Jim and Pat went to Vern’s.

Vern and June called in evening. Dr. Scanlon at 10:45. He changed my drops. Pressure down to 17. 15 is normal. Was 19 and 20 when I saw him last. Merrill went to city with me. Got Mom chime clock at Century $10. Called out home. Doreen said Mom still in Canada. Merrill mowed and raked hay in PM.

Nice day. Drawed 2 load of hay. Baler wouldn’t start for third load. Ray and Marg here for supper. Juanita’s mother had heart attack. She is getting better. Called Mom in Canada in evening. I mowed two lawns.

Didn’t get baler going. Merrill went to Burrville for points and fuel pump. Fred Hill came down and looked at it. He said it was coil. Got one at Grahams. Hot, muggy day. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Dot is sick. Her mind. Evelyn, Terry and I chased Brotherton’s young stock home at 11 PM.

Some showers. Cleared so we drawed 3 loads of hay. Rained again in evening. Went to Philadelphia for groceries and to bank in AM. Also went to Mills for fly spray in PM. Merrill had headache in PM. Baler starts first time with new coil.

Cloudy. Rained hard about all day. Merrill got hair cut. Went to Theresa twice to get it. I washed my hair. Put color rinse on it. Cleaned. Sent $15 to church budget to Sina. Made chocolate cup cakes. Merrill put new washers on faucets in kitchen and in small bathroom.

Sun shinning today. We went to city shopping at Westons and Fays. Jim and Pat both working. They won’t OK bank loan with present furnace at Jim and Pat’s house. We went down to Taylor’s cottage. Their son Bob and Moe went diving for sunken boat. Nice day. Rest of Fays store is open. Huge place.

Dr. Scanlon 2:15. I have to go back in four months, Nov. 17. We went to Mom’s for dinner. She got home Tuesday. Leah S came with her. We stopped at Marg and Roy’s. Dropped Mom and Leah there. Got groceries at P & C . Also first prescription for eyes. Took out Mom’s clock. Sent Don’s anniversary card.

Juanita and Don’s 20th anniversary. Wrote Aunt Keitha’s in California. Rainy. Cloudy day. Don and Bea Gehm here in PM. They are at the 1000 Island Club this week. Jim, Jan and girls are at Sackets with their sail boat. Water too rough to go on up river.

Another beautiful day. Merrill mowed hay by house. Last of 17 acres too wet to mow. We mowed lawns. I painted flag pole, mail box, and bird feeder. Mosquitos too bad. I had to stop painting.

Jefferson County Fair. Mary H, Marion Schell and I took boys and girls clubs to fair. Very hot. All girls had exhibits except Robin and Tammy H. Merrill cleaned 4 acre field while I was gone. I got home at 2 PM. We drawed one load of hay from back of barn.

Terry H is going to help us mow away hay. 50 cents a load. He did first load in 30 minutes. We put in 2 loads today. Hot and muggy. Mrs. Mildred Chase Beardsley called in evening to see if we would sell farm. A Syracuse doctor is interested.

Vern’s last day of summer school . I went to city for groceries and TV at Thompson’s. Lots of Hippies on way to Rock Festival in Canada. 3 load of hay. Mow about full. Rained some in evening. Merrill put cows back in 17 acres for first.

Cow no better. Beautiful day but warm. We took picnic lunch and drove along St. lawrence River on Route 12. Ate at rest stop. Went to Gouverneur. Stopped at Fair grounds where they are setting up fair. Mowed lower lawns.

Carroll Ward died last night about 6 PM. Mary H called. Funeral from Dawn Keichel’s and church. Carl K called and asked Merrill to be bearer at funeral Saturday. Merrill started combining oats across from house. 20 bags. I washed. Made cookies.

Carroll Ward’s funeral. Merrill was bearer. Also, Sim A, Carl K, Jim M. Ross M. and Lawrence R. Mary and Gene Murphy went with us. Church was full. Rev. Blankenship gave wonderful service. We mowed all three lawns. Sent Lois sympathy card. Merrill didn’t combine any oats today.
