Diary Entry for 4/10/2004

Sunny. Cold. Today would have been dad’s (Arthur B) birthday. He was born in 1892. Sherri N called. She called for prayer chain. Nancy had kidney removed yesterday. She is doing great. I called Vivian. I got Easter cards from Art and Doris. Also Dawn. Dan, Robin, Lydia and Jordan were at Vern’s. We colored Easter eggs. We were all there for supper.

A nice Easter Sunday. Cool wind. Vern, June and I went to Minetto Church. A beautiful service with a flower Cross by everyone. Vern, June, Jim, Jill and I went to (?) for a delicious buffet dinner. We went to Vern’s after. Jim, Jill and I went to Joanne’s on way home. I got home about 6 PM. A great weekend. Joel called me at Vern’s. Jill had her sweet little dog with her. She is so cute. Weighs 5 ½ pounds.

Sunny cold. 51° and 22°. I put up signs for VIP raffle. Vern made them for me. Angie here in PM. I gave myself Proqit shot. I talked with Cheryl and Marion. Juanita called in PM and in evening. She and Darcia and baby coming Wednesday.

Dark rainy day. I went to exercise class but it was cancelled. Muriel has lame back. Jim N brought me Easter church bulletin. Cheryl here for June’s hair wig. I baked a cake. I sent check to Philadelphia UM Church. Man here to fix window casing. Today is Hope Johnson’s birthday. Gas at $1.86 a gallon in Syracuse now.

A nice day. Sun out in PM. Juanita, Tandra, Darcia, and baby Kaydon 5 months here for lunch. They brought sub and mushrooms. Margaret K called. I played Pedro in evening. We had three tables. Jolie called from Ohio. They go home this weekend.

50° and 30°. A nice day. I went to exercise class. I bought a book of 37 cent stamps at Granny’s Attic. One book $7.40 for 20 stamps. Florence gave me sweet corn and watermelon for supper. Both real good. I talked with Lyla twice. Cheryl took Kathy to doctor’s in Syracuse today. Everything okay. Sherri called for First Church prayer chain for Shirley Smith.

A great day. Sunny. Warm sue called for Philadelphia prayer chain for Marilyn Gleason in Florida. Having surgery. I’ve felt tired all day. More soldiers back from war zone to Fort Drum.

Warmer. Thunder storms in PM. Granny’s attic public sale. Went quite well. A benefit for Jean and Roger Livingston at Philadelphia Legion today. Vi got back from Julie’s today. Girt s called and asked me to go to church tomorrow.

A nice warm day. Windy in evening. I went to church with girt Stanton. Rev. Russell Lee preached. Rev Dora on vacation. Vi is back. We went to church here. Her first time. 17 there. Nice service.

49° and 38°. Partly sunny. I went to exercise class. Not many out. Sue called for prayer chain for Nancy H. she is in Carthage hospital with congestive heart failure. I called Vivian. I took down my draperies for the summer. Kinney man, Jim, delivered my medications, Tylenol and vitamin E cream. Sue B called in evening to say Nancy is in serious condition. 400 soldiers returned to Fort Drum from Afghanistan after almost a year there. Over 100 came last week.

Very windy. Sue called they took Nancy back to University Hospital by Army Medivac helicopter last night. She’s very sick. Amanda is coming back from California again. I called Vivian M. Vi here for paper. I sent orders to Lane Bryant and Dr. Leonard’s. 100 USA soldiers killed in Iraq so far in April. I played Pedro in evening 3 tables.

A great spring day. I went to exercise class. 14 out. I washed my windows and lace curtains in bedroom and living room. Jolie called in PM. Jim and Jill on way to Joel’s in Iowa. My cactus plant has a blossom tonight. Jim and Jill called about 10 PM. They are almost to Joel’s. They have been on the road since 8:30 this morning. Angie, Florence, Sally and Vi here at different times.

58° and 37°. Cooler but sunny all day. Coby Slate brought Vi and I tape. First he’s been here since his operation on hip. Vi was down here for her paper when he came. Glen Coon 89 died yesterday. I talked with Sherri and Jim.

A sunny day. I went for coffee and donuts. Virginia Pastor here. Scot has a new son. A twin son died. He has twin daughters by his first marriage. I called Jim and Sherri. Girt S called to ask me to go to church with her.

49° and 31°. Colder. Windy. Rained hard in PM and evening. Angie was here in PM also Vi for Times. I went down and stayed with Sherri while Jim went to church. She’s not very good. Jolie called in PM. Vern called in evening. I called Debby but she wasn’t home.

Cloudy in AM. Partly sunny in PM. I went over to Samaritan Keep lab for blood work in AM. Vi went with me. I called Margaret Hudson. She lives at Chase Harrington Manor, Philadelphia now. I talked with Lyla. Kathy had her 2nd chemo today. Jolie called about 11 PM to say Jim and Jill got back about 9:30 PM. When they got ready to leave about 7 AM, they discovered Jim’s truck had been broken into. The tape player and his and Jill’s tapes taken. Also radio, Jim’s gun, check books etc. had been stolen.

49° and 44°. I didn’t go to exercise class. My knee sore this morning. Vi here for paper. I visited Arlene W. this PM. I saw Hazel upstairs. She has eye operation on May 12th. Jim called at suppertime. He didn’t seem too upset about being robbed.

Ground white with snow when I got up but it melted fast. Cheryl took me to Dr. LaPoint’s at 1 PM. My blood count down again. Have to give myself Procrit more often and increase iron. I played Pedro in evening. We only had two tables. I gave myself Procrit shot in evening.

A great summer day. Hot. Jessie here to clean. We didn’t go to store. I went up to Arlene’s for folder. Sue called for prayer chain for Heather Johnston. Linda Beyette called. Bill mowed lawns for first. They are covered with dandelions. I talked with Jim. Jolie called a couple times in evening. Zack is in California until Sunday morning. They have bought a new house in Charlotte, NC $125.000. Will move in June. She and Madison went to Darcia’s for weekend. I washed clothes in PM. Shawn Michael at (? Church lock) in for weekend.

Still warm but windy. Cooler in evening. Started raining about 4 PM. I went to church with Jim N. Vern and June got here about 1 PM. We went to Barkeater’s for dinner. I had lasagna. Good. Jolie called in evening. She got home from Darcia’s okay. Vern has to have surgery for prostate cancer in July. Test just discovered it. It is in deeds in Times that Sue Lucida has sold her camp in Lorraine for $65,000. Also Charles and Dawn Heckle have bought Mrs. Hagan’s house from Helen and Car. $41,500.

46° and 38°. Much cooler. Sunny. Vi here for paper. I talked with Jim to tell him about Vernon. He was at home. Centennial meeting at 7:30. Not as many out this month. Jolie called to say I could call her on an 888 number for free.

Sunny most of the day. I saw Cheryl in lobby. She said Marshall Thayer has lung cancer and only six months to live. He’s in hospital in a lot of pain. I talked with Lyla later. She is very upset with Vicky being so far away. VIP meeting at 2 PM. Mike White guest entertainer. Good to hear him again. A good turnout to hear him plus 7 members and 2 guests. Annette took Linda’s place. Ted Steward guest. Jim N came for his lunch that was left here until he goes home. Sherri a little better in hospital.

Raining in PM. I went to meeting on survey for Henry Keep Board. A two day meeting. Several came from Henry Keep apartments. I called Jim. He has a cold. I played Pedro in evening. Had three tables. I got packages from Lane Bryant and Dr. Leonard’s. Lyla B brought them to me. I called Juanita in evening

A sunny day. Cool wind. I went to exercise class. A small turn out. I went up to Ida Banfords to get her VIP dues. She’s a nice little lady. They say she is 95 years old but I can’t believe it. I mailed back school vote ballot. I also sent notice to HSBC to keep by burial fund account open.

A sunny day all day. 58° and 31°. Sherri Nash got home from hospital. She’s now under the care of Hospice. Jim called. Vi here for paper. Jim here to bring me some cash. He brought his computer and showed me pictures of Jolie’s new home. Also Joel’s place. Jim is going to Virginia Beach Monday and Maybe to Jolie’s.

Partly cloudy. I went for coffee and donuts. I took donuts down to Jim and Sherri. She got home from hospital yesterday. She’s very weak. I got two ham diners from church supper. Vi came down and we ate together here.

62° and 44°. Sunny. I didn’t get to church. Jill called in morning and said she and Jim want to take Vi and I out to dinner. They took us to Bob Evans. We had to wait 30 minutes for a table but had delicious food and a nice time together. Jill went to Patty’s in PM. Jill brought me flowers from her and Joel. Joanne sent a hanging plant by Jim. Jim gave me his usual big card with beautiful words. They left about 3 PM. Jolie called in evening. Also Juanita. Vern called at suppertime. He worked at pancake breakfast for his Rotary club.

A great day. I went to exercise class. Vi and I walked over to hospital lab. I had blood work. Vi treated me to lunch at hospital cafeteria. Dr. Willis office called. I need to have another blood test next week. Angie here. Brought me rhubarb. I got out my fans today. Feels good. Jolie called in evening. Jim is at her place. Just arrived in early evening

A summer day. Very humid. I played Pedro in evening. Only had two tables. Vi brought her grandmother’s book Sue made for her for me to look at. It’s so nice. I enjoyed it so much. Lots of memories. Florence gave me two ears of sweet corn. Office of the Aging called about the meals we receive. They are pretty good.

Hot and human. I went to exercise class. Debby called for Dr. LaPoint. I have to give myself Procrit shots twice this week and twice next week and then once a week. Vi here twice. We sat outside in evening.

85° and 68°. Hot but not as humid. Thunderstorm in PM. Jessie here to clean. We went to Big M store. Vi’s her. Also Florence and Angie. Jolie called in evening. Jim has gone on to Myrtle Beach but may not stay long. Zack was at a race in Virginia tonight. He has a good chance to get a job with the Army NASCAR group.

A nice day. I went to church with Girt S. art and Madeline Miles there. I went to church out here in PM. Vern called in evening. Vi here for paper. 450 soldiers got home to Fort Drum from overseas today. May go to Iraq later.

Sunny. A great day. Vi here. Also Angie. I gave myself Procrit shot in AM. Stompers here tonight but I couldn’t go. Sherri Nash memorial at 7 PM at First United Church. I went with girt S. a very nice service. Church was almost full. They had cookies and punch after service. She donated her body to science. Jolie called in evening. Jim is back at Joanne’s. Will be home tomorrow.

70° and 45°. A beautiful day. Nice breeze. Juanita called in morning. She said Ken and Esther planned to go out to Calcium to cemetery and wanted me to go with them. We had lunch at Burger King before going to cemetery. I played Pedro in evening. Only two tables.

A nice day. Windy. Vi here for Times. Florence gave me some watermelon for supper. I cooked rhubarb. 667 graduated from Jefferson Community College tonight. 15,000 so far have graduated from JCC to day.

61° and 50°. Cloudy. Some showers. I went for coffee and donuts. I made a cheesecake. First one in years. Gave some to Vi, Angie, Florence and Jim N. Vi was here. Debby called in evening. We talked for a long time.

Rained off and on. Thunder in evening. I went to church with Gertrude. We were greeters. Dr. Reimer in pulpit. Dora at conference. Vi here in PM. Vern called in evening. They are coming Sunday to go to cemetery. Vern’s computer wore out. He’s getting a new one. Jolie called. She was at the store getting boxes. They get the keys to their new house Thursday.

Cooler. Partly cloudy. 59° and 51’. I went to exercise class. Good turnout. Angie here in PM. She said our beautiful flowering crab tree is covered with armyworms. They are bad this year. Linda Beyette called. She has to have MRI.

Sunny all day. Cool wind. I went to exercise class. I gave myself Procrit. Vi and I went over to hospital so I could have blood work done. Jolie, Zack, and kids start moving into their new home. They get the keys today. I called Jim. He and Kenny stopped at hospital to see Posterina family. Mrs. Posterina is very sick.

A cloudy day. Jessie didn’t come today or she didn’t call. Vi, Florence and Jim N were here. Vern called to say he has a very sore shoulder and arm. They won’t be coming Sunday. I called Jim in PM. Sue called for Philadelphia UN Church prayer chin for Margaret Kiehles granddaughter.

Colder sunny, I cleaned the apartment. I called Avon lady Mary Beaumont to place in order for hand cream and lip pencil. Lyla called in evening. She, Marion and Cheryl got home from Vicky’s at 4 PM. Marshall not good. Hospice is taking care of them now.
