Still warm. Rained some. I called Jim. He got to Syracuse yesterday. His back is coming okay. I got notice I will have my medicate Insurance paid for me. The Columbia Space Ship blew up over Texas at 9 AM this morning killing seven astronauts. They were returning after two weeks in space. I’ve watched it all day. A brother of a Fort Drum soldier was killed I it. He was co pilot. Willie McCool. Shawn McCool flies helicopters at Fort Drum. Another member was from Plattsburgh. He was the only black member, Mr. Anderson.

34° and 28°. Ground hog day. Cloudy all day. Snowed during the night. We didn’t go to church. I went to church services here in PM. Sue B called for prayer chain for Rev Jane. She has four interviews Wednesday lasting over three hours before she can be ordained as a full minister. I called Shawn Michael but no one home. I had a nice visit with Shawn Michael on the phone. I mailed check to Philadelphia church.

Lake effect snow off and on. 28° and 10°. Also sunny by spells. I went to exercise class. Ten of us out. Fort Campbell, Kentucky helicopter airborne ordered over seas. I called in an order to Blair, $83.96.

27° and 2°. Sunny. Cold. The President has raised the terrorist alert in the US to orange. (High alert). Fort Drum soldiers getting ready to go overseas. 250 called up. I finally got my check balanced with the bank. It is so easy to make mistakes when I don’t see the number very well.

25° and 2°. Cold wind. Some sun. I went for coffee and donuts. Vern called in AM. They came and brought lunch. They took me to Kmart store and I bought Hover Steam vacuum cleaner. $129. I also got pillow for desk chair. We also went for groceries. Lyla called in evening. All is well in Philadelphia. The new dollar plus store in Philadelphia mall opened last Saturday. Marge Thayer has sold her trailer.

28° and 9°. Snowing hard in evening. I have a cold. Cora Carr called to say Lucy Carr Boyle died this weekend. I called Lyla. Also Vi. Juanita called in evening to say Pat’s funeral is Thursday. She is going to Dorland’s Wednesday. Will stay with him for two weeks.

He said Jolie has quit her job. She and Madison went to North Carolina last weekend to visit Zack. I called Vern’s in evening to let them know I got their package.

The first Fort Drum soldiers leave for overseas today to Iraq. 150 of them. Potluck supper but I didn’t go. Didn’t feel like eating. Sherri called. Also Barb. She wanted me to ask the blessing at the supper. Florence brought me a piece of the birthday cake from the super.

They leave for Florida Thursday in a Jet Blue plane. Esther’s two grandchildren 6 and 7 are going with them. Terrible snow storms in Washington and New York City. I talked with Jim. Jolie called me in evening.

I called Jim. He and Joel took Jill out to eat for her birthday. Joel’s was the 13th. I called Vi in PM. Virginia Pastor went to hospital by ambulance tonight.

30° and 16°. Everything covered with ice this morning. Wires down and power off in places. We didn’t get to church again. I haven’t been this month. I talked with Jim. Also talked with Sherri to tell them they could have my Times paper. Jim came up for it. Ice storm bad in Theresa, Antwerp, Lafargeville, Clayton and Alex Bay sections. Many without power yet tonight.
