Quite warm. Partly cloudy. I called eye center for prescriptions. Also called Kinney’s drugs. Jolie called in PM. She was on the way to her girlfriends wedding. She called again in evening. I made spaghetti for super.

Sunny most of day. Cold all day. Only up to 50° I sent letter to Dr. LaPoint for her to fill out. Shawn Michael and Jolie called. Jolie called again in PM. Vern called in evening. Their church had their turkey supper tonight. They made $2000 on it.

Very cold wind. Partly cloudy. Daylight saving time ends. I went to church with Jim and Shari 83 present. A soldier back fro Korea I Sunday school class. The Nash’s dropped me off at the nursing home. I age hunch in the cafeteria. Jim and Nancy came and brought me home. Jolie and Shawn Michael called in evening.

Partly sunny. Cold 18° last night. I called Vitamin Company. Sent order for calcium tablets. $22.25 for 500. I put up bedroom draperies.

A nice sunny day. 45° Halloween. Exercise class. We met in library as they were cleaning floors and rugs. I washed living room draperies and put them up. I met new next door neighbor, Elma Hershey from Carthage. I played Bingo in evening. They cleaned the carpets today.

A great sunny day. I washed clothes. I played Pedro in evening. We had a fire here tonight. A tenant upstairs three her lighted cigarette in her wastebasket instead of her toilet. She got it out before fireman got here. Lots of smoke on second floor.

A great summer day. Exercise class. Jessie at 10:30. Paid her $16. She went to store for me. Bus to see Merrill at 1 PM-3. Merrill got flu shot today. I took the bus. George was driver. Jolie called. She and kids were almost in bad accident on 5 lane highway. Several cars involved. I mailed my first absentee voting ballot for president.

Not a bad day. Cloudy in PM. Juanita called in AM. I got package from Blair’s. Pants and sweatshirts. Also fleece sweat set. I got Heap application blanks from Hope. I have to call bank. I called Jim. He was in Utica on his bike.

Cloudy day. I went for coffee and donuts. Esther and Ken called. Hollis still costing Ken money. Jolie called. She said she told Jill and her boy friend to come see me. Jill and Shane here in PM. Lidia gave me delicious Italian Spaghetti for supper.

Cloudy day. 38°. I went to church with Nash’s. All Saints Day. I took Sherrie and Jim out to eat in cafeteria at Genesis. They went up to see Merrill with me. I came home with them. It is in today’s paper that Rose Blair, 79 from 209 Second floor died here Friday night. I called Vern and June. June has a new computer. Jolie called in evening. She and kids were at the mall.

Sunny day. I called bank for interest payment. Centennial Club meeting 7:30 PM. Lots of things going on for the holidays. I called Ethel Dunn. She’s doing okay. I received packages of cologne and lipsticks from Beauty Mystique. Lyla called this AM.

Election Day. Sunny, nice day and evening. Exercise class. Nine present. VIP meeting 2-4:30 PM. Small turnout. I got calcium tablets. Gertrude Stanton fro church called on prayer card project. I watched election returns all evening.

I watch election returns until 1:30 AM. No change when I got up this morning. Too close to call. Esther called and asked me to go to Philadelphia to Rebekah’s. Seven of us there. Paid my dues. $8. They go to $10 next year. I played Pedro in evening.

Cloudy. Some rain. Exercise class. I went to see Merrill at 11:40 AM-1:30. I took Merrill two sweat outfits. One dark gray. One navy. Lots on TV. Still about counting election ballots. Jim called in evening. He hasn’t moved to other house yet.

Raining. Bill came in to check my living room window. It rained in terrible last night. Soaked everything. Jolie called in PM. She said Joel has been having back trouble X-rays showed he had had a broken back at some time. Probably from the accident at Sackets.

Veteran’s Day. War Memorial dedicated at Jefferson County Administration Building. Loren Tryon’s name is on it. Merrill’s 20 year old brother killed in World War II in France, 8/28/44. Jim and I went. A beautiful memorial. Good speaker. A cold day. Lyla called. I called her back. I had ham dinner from church. Nash’s got them. Delicious. I called Gloria and Roger. Sandy and Ed live one mile from them.

I went to church and Sunday school with Sherrie and Jim. They dropped me of at Genesis to spend time with Merrill. Vern and June came to the nursing home to see Merrill but he wouldn’t wake up. They took me for groceries and drugs. Jolie left message on machine.

Cloudy day. Cold. Fran Soluri called and invited me to lunch. We ate at Club House Restaurant. Then came back here. We had great visit. I got “Wrinkle” sweatshirt from Blair. Flu shot at 9 AM. I got it here at Centennial.

Raining. I went to exercise class. 11 present. I washed clothes. Jim called in evening. He’s working on his house next door.

Cloudy. Snow other places. Cold. Jolie called. Today is Zack’s birthday. He is still in Georgia. The Office of the Aging helped us fill out our Heap applications. Genesis workers not getting their wages. I played Pedro in evening.

Partly cloudy. Cold wind. Exercise class 12 of us there. Jessie here to clean. I went to see Merrill in PM by bus. Things not going too bad there with patients. Merrill had been put to bed with his clothes on. Workers still not getting pay.

Cloudy and cold. Hope, Mr. Doldo and Bill here to look at my window. I sent Jolie letter but mail had already been here. Sent she and kids money for Thanksgiving dinner. Zack in Georgia. Jim here at supper time. He had been to check on his dad. The Times did an interview with him. Genesis workers finally getting back pay.

Cloudy. Jim’s picture in Times this morning. Good of him. Also Kathy Clarks. Good article on Genesis. They are still counting election ballots 11 days after Election Day. It started snowing about 5 PM. The ground white in no time. Our first snow of the season. Lyla called. Sherrie N called.

Watertown got 10 inches of snow. Snowing hard. First snow of the season. Stopped about noon. We didn’t go to church. Cars not shoveled out. I didn’t get to see Merrill. Margaret Kiechle called in evening.

Lake effect snow starting about 3:30 PM. Lots of things cancelled. My eyes bad from watching the snow. I received several birthday cards under my door. Vern called in evening. They leave for West Virginia in the morning. Two feel of snow in Buffalo. Thruway closed. I called for bus tomorrow.

Beautiful out. Folks cleaning off their cars. My birthday 83 years old. Exercise class. Dawn not here because one of her kids is sick. We had class anyway. Only 8 of us there. Eye appointment at 2:15 PM. Dr. Ford did dilation. Everything okay. I went to see Merrill at 4 PM. He was sleeping. Jim and Walt went up to see him in PM. Jolie and kids called in evening. I’m still getting birthday cards and calls. Jill called in evening also.

Sunny day. 27° high. -7° low. Jim here in AM. He brought me beautiful birthday card. Nancy left to visit her daughter in Albany. I called Ramada for reservation. Mable Hudson called. She is out of work as she had major surgery on her foot. She is staying with Bonnie Meadows. Lyla called. I played Pedro in evening.

Thanksgiving. A beautiful sunny day but very cold. Only up to 22°. Jim, Jill and I went to Ramada at 1 PM for buffet. Delicious except their coffee. I went to see Merrill in PM. He was awake most of the time I was there. I saw Martin and Nancy at the Ramada. Good to hear news of the neighborhood. Vern called from West Virginia. They all had a great day together. Two-hour country show on TV for 75th anniversary of Nashville’s Grand Old opera. Great show.

Cold but partly sunny. I washed clothes. I star ted humidifier going. I sent some checks to pay bills. Messed up phone check. Sent grocery store check. I got pictures of Lydia and Jordan. Also turkey cards from Lydia. The kids are so cute.

Sunny and nice. I got birthday card from Debbie. Also long letter from Gloria. Jill took me to Washington Street Plaza for groceries and drug store. Jolie called twice in evening. Darica had her baby Friday. Darrius James Bailey. 10 pounds 13 oz. We had three-way hook up and talked with Darcia. Also with Jim.

Raining about all day. City Christmas Parade. Also the tree lighting at 6 PM. I went to church with Jim and Sherrie. Made Christmas wreaths, angels, and center pieces. They also decorated the church for Christmas. I went to see Merrill after church. Came home by taxi. I met Glen Congdon’s niece, Lore (Lorraine) Buker Wiswell at church. She has lost both lets with diabetes but gets around great on new artificial ones.

Raining some. Cloudy foggy. I got birthday card from Alice Flaherty. Lee was in to tell me they will fix my window tomorrow. I made spaghetti for supper. Jim called in evening. He’s getting sink etc for apartment.

Cloudy. Snow melting fast. Exercise class. Nine present. Dawn gave us cookies she made. Hope and guys came in to check my window again. I played Bingo in evening. I didn’t win even once.

Cloudy. Some snow flurries. Jessie here to clean. $15. Kathy Clark called from Genesis. Merrill quite congested. Temperature 101°. He isn’t eating. I called Jim. He hurt his back tow days ago lifting a bath tub. Jolie called. She can’t wait until Zack gets home. Hope here about my phone. Jim called her. Genesis is trying to get me about medication for Merrill. I called them back. Merrill has pneumonia. The celebration group and here tonight. Great. Rev. Jane Wagner called. She is coming tomorrow to see me and go see Merrill. I called Vern and June.

Cloudy day. Not too cold. Rev. Jane got here about 9:30 AM. She liked my apartment. We went to see Merrill. He isn’t doing so good. Rev. Jane gave a wonderful prayer. We said The Lord’s Prayer and sang, “He Touched Me.” Also chorus of “When the Roll is called up Yonder”. He heard us. Jane and I spent an hour at Bonnie’s day care. She played Christmas carols and we enjoyed singing them. We ate lunch in cafeteria. I came home by bus. I called Jim, Vi and Vern. Vern and June are coming tomorrow. Lee and repairmen here about window. He caulked it outside again.

A nice sunny day. Cold. Vern and June came this AM. We went to see Merrill. He seemed a little better today than yesterday. He’s very restless. We ate lunch in cafeteria. I got new black oxfords at Barow and Monroes. I called Jim. Lyla called in evening. I got cute pictures of Madison. She looks so much older.

A nice day. Cold. I went to church with Nash’s. Went to see Merrill after. Came home by cab. Merrill tried to talk to me. Wish I could know what he wanted to say. He’s very weak.

Nice sunny day. Cold. Lyla and I went to Pharmhouse and then to see Merrill. Merrill died just before noon today. Lyla and I was with him. Jim got there fast as he was in the city. Vern and June got to apartment about 2 PM. Rev. Dora here. She knows Vern and June. She kept picking on Jim. We went to Theresa at 5 P to finish up final details. I called Sherrie Nash to tell her about Merrill. She called Rev. Dora. Hope and others. Lyla called Philadelphia folks and Elgin and Carmi. I called Merrill’s nieces and nephews. Robert and Cheryl Congdon called. I gave workers at Genesis a 2-pound box of Whitman’s chocolates.

Very snowy off and on all day. I didn’t go to exercise class. I called bank, Charlotte and several called. Dan fro West Virginia, Joel fro Iowa and Jolie from Washington State, Plus Jim, Lyla, Sue, Sherrie, Arlene and Rev. Jane. Sue Boschock here to spend PM. Brought me beautiful flowers and goodies she made. Marion Carvel brought me brownies. I got several cards. Jim here with death certificate. (6 – $60.00) Vern called in evening. He says Vi M can ride to Philadelphia with us Saturday. Sue said it is Lora Lancaster Brown and husband that has the new trailer across from our house on Belile Road.

Snowing again in late PM. Rev. Jane here to plan memorial service for Merrill. She is so great. Such a comfort. Many folks called. Lyla, Juanita, Cheryl, Nancy, Sue, I called Jim and Lyla. Florence in to collect for gift for staff. $5.00. I got several cards and nice letters from Trices’s. They leave December 11 for Florida for winter. I got my telephone book.

Lots of snow over night. Sunny. No school because of snow. I went to exercise class. Dawn not there. 7 of us. I washed clothes. VIP Christmas supper. 4-6 PM. Barbershop quartet. Delicious dinner and great singing. I received several calls. Rev. Jane called twice. Tracy Robertson is going to sing. “In the Garden” at Merrill’s funeral. Elgin and Carmi called in morning. I also had called from Ethel, Ginny D. Darcia, Lyla and Mable H. I received several sympathy cards.

Very cold. Vern and June got here about 10 AM. We went to bank at Evans Mills. Rev. Jane stopped there to get Vern’s eulogy copy. Then we went to Social Security office. We ate lunch at Burger King. Shopped at Pharmhouse for cards. Rev. Dora S stopped by. I received call on answering machine to call Nancy Neil but I couldn’t het her. Also had call from Jolie. June and Vern fixed picture boards.

Cold. Beautiful sunny day. Merrill’s Memorial service at Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Calling hour 10-11. Service at 11. Luncheon after service. The church was almost full. So good to see so many friends and relatives. Rev. Jane Wagner had such a great service. Vernon gave a nice eulogy and many others also responded. John Johnson taped it for us so we can send it to Dan, Jolie, and Joel. Vi went to Philadelphia with us. Vern and June, Steve, Kathy and girls came back to my apartment for a while, Vern got Nancy Neil on phone. She sent fern and flower plant. Mary Hall and her kids gave me the biggest basket of fruit.

Nice day. Partly cloudy. Warmer. I didn’t go to church today. It is a covered dish diner and Sunday school program. Jim and Nancy were here in PM. They took pictures of poster board. I talked with Juanita. Also Sherrie Nash. Him brought me church bulletin. Robin called from West Virginia. There is deer track across the lawn out my living room window. Some folks saw 3 deer around here.

Cloudy day. I got some of the extra stuff put away. I’ve got too many plants. Bill filled holes in my window sill. He has to paint it before inspection. Today would have been our 65th wedding anniversary. We didn’t quite make it. I got our Christmas decorations in evening and put up some. Got several more cards.

Stormy. Many schools closed. Not city school. Sunny in PM but very cold. I got several cards and donations to Memorial fund. Dr. Weinstein 4 PM. I took taxi but he wasn’t in . I walked over to SMC and called cab but it was so slow Linda Beyette gave me a ride home. The Islander’s chorus sang here tonight. Tracy was with them. They are so good. Florence stopped in. Helen Kiechle called.

Very cold but sunny. Frances Soluri stopped by and gave me cookies and box of candy. Six of us Rebekah’s went to Esther T at Sackets for lunch meeting and exchange of gifts. Detra Delles took us. Helen Brown attended also. Delicious lunch and nice time. I called Jim. He didn’t get to his doctor’s yesterday. Looks like we are finally getting a new president, VP Gore conceding to Bush. I received several more cards.

Snow again over night. Cold. Jim stopped y with a picture he had enlarged of Merrill’s family (5 kids then) taken about 1918-19. An Uncle Will Henderson and his new car in picture. We had our Centennial Christmas dinner here at 5 PM. Roast Port. Delicious. Put on by Schulers Restaurant. I talked with Jolie and Zack in evening. Zack feels bad Jolie couldn’t get back for grandpa’s memorial. He said she should have been here with us.
