Raining and cold. Jim moved from Sackets to Adams. Merrill went to day care. I had hard time getting him up and ready. Mrs. Rudes on his bus. I called Jolie. Chad here in PM. He is going to find someone who has a family member with Alzheimer’s so we can talk on the phone. It helps depression I’m sure. I went to Rebekah’s. Only Ginny, Mary, Diane and I. Donna called to say she’d come here to do my hair November 12, Veteran’s day at 9 AM. I called Vern and June in evening. Vern’s doctors test are fine. I called Doug H to say we would be at the wedding but won’t try to stay for the reception at fire hall.

Sunny. They black topped our road. Jim finished moving to Adams today. Darcie called to say Jolie would be out later with my pills. I watched space shot with John Glenn, 77. Jolie, Zack, and Shawn Michael here in evening. Brought my pills. Shawn Michael got in trouble at school today. Jim called but talked to Jolie. Was on his way to see Nancy in Clayton.

Nice day but cold all day. Merrill went to day care. Lyla came over. She took me to store. I gave her $50 to get her eyes examined. I don’t know what I’d do without her. She didn’t want to take it. Jim called in evening. He was on his way to his new home in Adams. He has most of his stuff moved.

Cold, sunny day. I called Charlotte and Elmer. He is doing fine. Three more chemo treatments to go. I called Nancy to tell her we would go to church with Lyla. Pauline called in evening. She was at Marge’s. The twins (Ashley) the only trick or treaters we had. They were Campbell soup cans. So cute. Lyla lost her purse while out with them but got it back. I sent order to Health house for shoes and robe for Merrill and sunglasses for me.

A nice day. Lyla went to church for first. We rode with her. It was All Saints Sunday. Aunt Maude was one of those honored. She would be so glad to know Lyla was there. We stopped at Philadelphia Restaurant for lunch. Merrill had bad evening. He didn’t want to take his shower before going to bed.

Very cold. 45° high. Some rain. Dr. Sanni 11:30. Lyla took me to city. Phyllis Dobson went with us. My eye pressure left 22 right 14. He changed my eye drops to Cosopt. A drop in my left eye twice a day. My right eye has a little build up of tissue back of my cataract operation. Not bad enough yet for laser removal. We ate at Burger King. Saw Lois and Bill Burns there. We shopped at Pharmhouse and Kinney’s in Seaway. I got thermos to store coffee in. Also a coffee maker at Kinney’s. Saw Jim Decker at Pharmhouse.

Quite cold. Amy took us up to vote. Mail and paper came. I sent for two sweatshirts to Blair’s.

We had first now flurries overnight. Merrill went to day care. The furnace smelled very hot about 1:30 AM. So I shut it off. It got very cold before we got fixed up. Tony Hull came about 11 AM. He cleaned furnace but couldn’t find anything wrong. He will put a new motor on blower if it bothers again. I made fruit cocktail cake. I washed Merrill’s dark clothes I called Jim at work. He called back in evening.

Cold but nice day. I washed white clothes. I cut Merrill’s hair. The furnace over heated again so I called Robbins. Tony came right over. Frank here also. They put a new motor on blower. I sent for 1 black and 1 brown purse to California.

Cloudy. Merrill went to day care at 8 AM this morning. I washed Merrill’s dark clothes. I put glass in back storm door. Jolie called. She goes back to work next week. Zack is having special classes at Fort Drum starting next week. He can’t come home much. He has Thanksgiving off. Talked with Shawn Michael. Jim called in evening.

Partly cloudy. Partly sunny day. Vivian called to ask if I wanted to go with her to get my hair cut. Clark had fainting spell while at Becky’s. He goes for test Monday. Space ship with John Glenn, 77 and other astronounts landed safely after nice days in space.

Cloudy most of day. We went to church 47 out. Was Laity Sunday. Very good. Nancy H took Ellen’s place. Ellen is in Mass with new grandson and his parents. Wayne, Nancy, and Alice came after us. A lazy lonesome day. I called Vern and June. Jim and Nancy Penrose at their house for dinner. Vern doing great. They sang in the choir at church today. Grant Sharpe real bad. Had a bad heart attack.

A nice day. Merrill went to day care. 46° high, 24° low. I called Vi. She was at Martha’s. Martha not good at all. She goes to doctors at Syracuse tomorrow. I called prescriptions to Pharmhouse. Jim will bring them out.

Windy, cold. Rainy. Tina here to check Merrill. Mary Cooke called to say there is day care tomorrow. I washed white clothes. Terrible windy in PM and evening. Power went off at 6:30. Philadelphia village before that. Jm called in evening. He finished moving stuff from Sackets. He got washer and dryer hooked up. His power went off in Adams before he could use dryer.

Still windy. Rainy. No school or mail pager went. Merrill went to day care. Donna here to do my hair 9 AM. We had a great visit. Becky brought her. Power came back on at 7:30 AM. Off for 7 hours. Bad all over. A tractor trailer blew up over on Route 11 at Philadelphia. Merrill had a very restless night, even after the power went back on and the house warmed up. I washed towels. Jim called in PM from work.

Still windy and cold. Partly sunny. Merrill has slept about all day. Transportation called to say they would be picking him up at 8 AM tomorrow. We got a letter from Vern. They are coming for my birthday. Things looking very grim in the Iraq war Saddam Hussein situation. 400 Fort Drum soldiers going to the gulf again after being there 7 years ago.. Donnie Hanson was over there then. Rick Slate’s 50th birthday. Linda gave him a large gun cabinet.

Nice day. Friday the 13th. Merrill went to day care at 8 AM. Chad D here in AM. Linda stopped in for a while. They are on vacation this week. I pressed my black suit and some slacks. I sent Zackary birthday card and $10. I got two seat shirts from Blair’s. Nice. I called Vivian in evening. Clark hasn’t heard from his tests. He still has a headache.

Cloudy but not a bad day. Jim called and asked us to g out to supper. Nancy was with him. First time we have met her. She has two daughters, Sally 22 and Jodi 19. We ate at Philadelphia Restaurant. Doug and Jodi Collins Haggerty wedding at Philadelphia UMC. Reception at fire hall. We went to wedding at church with Clark and Vivian. We didn’t try to go to reception so they brought us home after the church. The wedding was quite large and very nice. They had a new tractor (large one) for the trip to the fire hall. I called Lyla in evening.

A little rain, a little sun. cloudy. We went to church 54 out. Nancy came after us. Wayne brought us home. Vi called in PM. Martha very bad. She is in coma. Julie here. Zack’s 22nd birthday.

Nice day. Sunny. Snow flurries in PM. First snow of the season about 2 inches. Merrill went to day care. Bad 4 trucks accident at Antwerp. 85 year old man dead. I got call from Vi about 9 AM saying Martha, 55 died last night about 8 PM. I called Lyla also Margaret but Vi called her. I washed white clothes. Lyla called in evening. Fort Drum soldiers called back on way to Persian Gulf. Saddam Hussein troops have agreed to meet terms of agreement. Joyce Purcell called. Had nice visit. Insurance man here to meet Jim but Jim forgot it He was having apartment water troubles. I called Jim. Jolie here. She took Shawn Michael to school from dentist appointment. Jolie is getting Merrill some flannel PJ’s and me boots and took my sneakers to be stretched. Darcie called to say Jolie got us new boots on sale.

Ground covered with 2 inches of snow. It didn’t melt all day. I called Vi. Martha’s funeral is Saturday at Theresa. Calling hour 1-2 PM. I called Lyla. Jolie called in evening. She got my boots. I sent Debby birthday card and letter.

Very sunny day. Cold in morning. Merrill went to day care. I washed Merrill’s dark clothes. Patty called in PM. Darcie, Anthony, Jolie, and Shawn Michael here in evening. She brought me new black boots. Very nice. Steinback’s was having sale. She’s also stretched my white sneakers for me. I tried to call Vern’s but I can’t get anyone home. Merrill very mixed up today.

Cloudy. Cold wind. Lyla was over in PM. Merrill didn’t get up until almost 10 AM. I called Vivian. Clark’s test found everything okay. I called Vern in evening. He saw the surgeon today. Also took his stress test. He’s doing fin. Can go back to work after Thanksgiving. I took shower and washed m hair in evening. Jim called on way home in evening. He has to work until 3 PM Thanksgiving. I got birthday cards from Lyla and Margaret Hudson. Grant Sharpe, 84 died today.

Cloudy. Merrill went to day care. I washed white clothes. Lyla took me to store and stayed for lunch with me. The furnace went off I called Agway but it wasn’t out of fuel. Only took 115 gallons. Agway man checked it but couldn’t find what was wrong. I called Robbins. Tony and his daughter, Cassandra came about 5 PM. He put a new relay on it. Jim called in evening. Will be out tomorrow.

Raining in AM. Cloudy all day. My 81st birthday. Vern and June came for lunch. They brought baked lasagna, cabbage salad, Italian bread, and birthday cake. Also gave me a pretty wine colored sweater. June, Lyla and I went to Martha Meeks funeral at Theresa. A large funeral. We sat in 2nd room. Very sad but nice. Julie wrote a beautiful poem to her mother. Vern stayed with Merrill. Jim came in evening. He put batteries in my new bird clock. Vern took garbage to dump. Boy made out permission slips for Lyla to take their place in giving Betty Fredericks permission for cremation for us if they aren’t available.

Sunny. We went to church. Wayne came after us. 52 out. Rev Jane had altar call. Merrill very restless in church. Also when we got home. He damaged door chain. He didn’t calm down until bedtime Jolie called Jim. He called form Clayton. We gave $20 to Giving Tree at church. I called Vern’s in evening to ask about Centennial apartment application. I forgot it yesterday. Jolie came out before going to work at 5:30 PM. She borrowed $200 for Christmas shopping. She called back when she got home from work to see if all was well here. I said Good night to Shawn Michael. I told him not to let the bedbugs bite. He says my Nanna says that to me also.

Sunny warmer. Cloudy in PM. Merrill went to day care. I sent sympathy card to Grant Sharpe family. Also sent $20 to hospice in memory of Martha Meeks. I wrote note to Evelyn asking them to come see us. I sewed buttons on Merrill’s jacket and shirt. Also put leaf back in table. Jim called in evening.

Rainy. Tina here in morning. Everything okay. I called Vi. She’s quite tired but doing okay. We had a good visit. JoAnn (Mitchell) Cross here to clean. She went for groceries for me. Amy’s car broke down so she couldn’t come.

Another nice day. Sunny in AM. Merrill went to day care. I baked squash, got broccoli ready to steam and stuff ready for dressing. Also turkey ready to roast. Jolie called in PM. I sent to Times renewal for six months. $87.98.

Thanksgiving Day. A rainy day. Jim called from work to say “Happy Thanksgiving”. He will try to get off a little early. He is having a busy day. I got Mr. Turkey in the oven at 9 AM. Almost 14 pounds. Merrill peeled the potatoes. Jolie, Zack, Shawn Michael and Jill came first. Zack home on Thanksgiving Day leave from Fort Drum. Darcie, Paul, and Anthony came next and Jim last. We had a nice day together. Paul is a soldier. His home is California. Jim Mefford called from Colorado. It was good to talk to him. We had loads to eat and all seemed to enjoy it. Everyone helped. Jolie and Darcie had new Husky Puppies. Very cute and real good. Jim took Centennial apartment application.

No day care today. A good thing as Merrill doesn’t want to get up. He got up at 10 AM. I got dishes put away and froze some leftovers. I washed tablecloth and napkins. Also cleaned floors with cleaner. I called Lyla. She had good Thanksgiving at Marion’s. The twins are ill with upset stomachs. Lyla will take me to eye doctor Monday. Got bill from Robbins for relay for furnace. Cost $100.

Partly cloudy, sunny, warm day. I washed white clothes. We put on bedroom storm windows. A hard job as Merrill couldn’t remember if he was putting them on or taking them off. I feel dizzy today.

Cloudy, quite warm. We went to church. 70 out. A hanging of the greens service. Many people taking part. Also Sunday School and youth group. The altar was lined with poinsettias and doors had wreaths put on them. A cradle was filled with gifts for the children’s home at Watertown. A very beautiful service. Rae Anne and Robby had their new 6 day old daughter, Brianne Marion LaFave to church. She’s a keeper. Cute. I called Juanita in PM. David is putting in a pipeline milker. Kay has a 3rd floor apartment on Mill Street. His girlfriend and her two kids are living in Mansville. Brenda is going to Colorado for a visit. Esther hasn’t gone to Florida yet.

60’s. Like summer. Cloudy in PM. Dr. Richmond 10 AM. Had a field test on right eye. I couldn’t see any light dots with left eye. Dr. K says my optic nerves are very bad. They should be pink color but mine are almost white for lack of blood. Lyla took me to city. We shopped at Pharmhouse. Came back here for lunch. Merrill went to day care. Sandy called and said she’d call back but didn’t. We were eating lunch. A man called from Alzheimer’s. He is going to send me list of others with it in their family.

Raining in the morning. Still warm 56°. Sunny in PM. Amy here today at 2-4 PM. She cleaned stove oven for me. I washed Merrill’s dark clothes, pants, flannel shirts and PJ’s. World aids day. 300 with it in North Country. 3000 with it that don’t know realize it. Very scary. I received 1999 diary from Sandra Hagan in mail. It’s like last two June gave me. I cut Merrill’s hair. Pierepont Manor 95 years old. A special celebration was held. I left canned goods in mailbox for food pantry. Hillary Anne Drake Bridge 1 year old.

A great sunny day. Merrill went to day care. I washed white clothes. I mended Merrill’s underwear. Sent card to Tom and Nancy Ronas. Tom is in Syracuse hospital with his cancer having a new treatment transplant. I called Sandy in evening. Jim called in evening. He was at Jolie’s.

Cloudy. Raining in PM. Watertown City has had it’s first drive by shooting. Black people involved. Victim lived at Maywood Terrace. I called Lyla.

A beautiful day. 67° high and sunny. Merrill went to day care. Chad Dudley here in PM. I got Christmas decorations out of storeroom. Set up tree and put wreath on front door. Baptist church supper. They brought us ours. I hadn’t ordered it, but meals on wheels driver said he’s bring us some. Very delicious. The drive by shooting turned out to be a hoax. Two men fighting and one got shot. They didn’t have a gun permit. I got 1 black and 1 brown bag I sent for. Nice. Also got a calendar from Nancy and Bill. Got gift of stamps from fireman’s Aux. Got first Christmas card. Was from Cheryl A.

Cloudy day. In 60’s. rain in PM. I decorated tree and put up some decorations. I have a sore back today. United Methodist Church Bazaar to benefit Sunday School. Merrill very upset all PM. Sue called in evening. Asked for Jolie’s address. I gave her Lyla Ashley’s also.

Cloudy, some sun. Warm 65°. We didn’t get to church. Merrill didn’t want to get up. I put up rest of Christmas decorations. Nancy brought us 3 dozen home made donuts from Bazaar yesterday @$3.00 a dozen. I gave her $5.00 for Sunday School and $5.00 for Rev. Jane’s Christmas gift. Jim and Nancy here in PM. They took us to Philadelphia Restaurant for supper. Nancy Huntress brought tape of today’s church service. Vernon called in evening. He’s been teaching and feeling great.

68° in morning. Dropped to 20° at night. Folks will need a coat. I almost spoiled the tape Nancy brought last night. My radio tape player and recorder isn’t working. It didn’t tape Merrill yesterday when I used it. I was able to rewind the tape. They had a good service yesterday. I washed both white and colored clothes. I sent Christmas card to Boschocks. I sent Heather clipping and church envelope. I called Pauline Jones. Her husband died of Alzheimer’s some time ago. Nice to talk with her. We got Christmas card from Vern and June.

Much colder. Finally getting snow flurries. In 30’s all day. Tina and Barb Tefft here all AM. Not much different. They have been seeing Merrill for two years now. Amy here to clean. She went to store for me. I called Mary C. Rebekah’s Christmas party next month. Vivian can’t come until then. She had her knee operated on December 4th.I called Vi. She’s doing okay but lonesome for Martha. Jolie called. Zack’s graduation at Fort Drum today. Jolie and Shawn Michael went to it. They will be out for supper tomorrow.

Nice but cold. Partly sunny. Merrill went to day care. I went to Rebekah’s. Esther and Vi there. No meeting until January 13th. I called Margaret Waters. Alice Flaherty called for prayer chain for Glenn Coon. His sister in law died. Jolie, Shawn Michael and “King” came in evening. She brought Merrill’s PJ’s, two pair. We got Christmas card from Boschocks. She sent pictures of Heather and Kat (Glenda) My arthritis very achy all day.

Sunny, Cloudy in evening. Merrill awake all night long. He paced the house all night. He can be so negative to all ideas. I had to keep the doors padlocked all day. Pauline here in PM. She had some pictures she wanted me to identify. She had one of Great Grandma Elizabeth Gallagher Haggerty and her sister Sarah Coons. It brought back so many memories. I was 11 years old when Great Grandma died at 103 years. Pauline gave me pretty red cross she made. Lyla called. Also Jolie. We got anniversary card from Vern and June. The Cha House party burned tonight at 7 PM. Fireman there until after 10 PM. Lyla thought it was our house. Vivian Donna, Sue, Nancy and Ginny called. I called Jim. It didn’t upset Merrill too much.

Our 63rd anniversary. A sunny day. They are picking Merrill up at 8 AM for day care. He went to day care today. I went across road to see how bad the fire was. Only the shell of that beautiful home standing. Everything lost. Eugene West said they think it started from the stove. I gave him $20 to give to his sister Vanessa. Lots of cars by to see fire site. Lyla here in forenoon. Also Marge Heck. We all had a nice visit. Vern called in evening. Also Jolie called from work. I called Vivian. Jim called from mall after he and Nancy went to her Christmas party at Carriage House.

Another great day. Rev. Jane called in PM to see how we were. Vivian brought our mail. We got Christmas cards and notes from Ken’s and Gladys L. She’s not well. Has a tumor. Got notice that my Social Security is $240.00. Merrill’s is $476.00. We each get $79.50 SSI plus our Medicare of $43.80 each. We also have Medicaid coverage which is a large amount. I made a cake and a pudding. Also cleaned freezer in refrigerator. I called Tom Page to ask if Cho’s were here this weekend. He talked with them last night and they are afraid to come so far in case weather gets bad.

Like summer again. We went to church. 68 out. Wayne came after us. Vi and Julie there today. I bought a door wreath made by Eleanor H for bazaar. $10 nice. Clark and Vivian in church for dedication of seat cushions. Jolie called in morning. She and Shawn Michael to be baptized next Sunday. I called Charlotte at Philadelphia Restaurant about going there for lunch after church. I called Jolie in evening to tell her.

Another great day. Sunny 31°. I washed all the windows on the outside of the house. They were smoky from the house fire across the street Thursday evening. Merrill went to day care. He didn’t feel good when he got home. He didn’t sleep at all last night. He wouldn’t eat supper. I got Christmas cards with notes from Rhonda, Leon and Elmer. Elmer not good. Dr. says he will live 6-12 months. Also from Darcie, Loren S, Card from Howard and Evelyn. Shawn Michael called to thank me for his Highlights for children magazine. He stated getting it today.

Sunny breezy. In the 50’s. Unbelievable. Got more Christmas cards. Doreen and Patty and Thank you from Hospice for Martha M. Amy here to clean. She washed walls. Look so clean. Merrill very mixed up. Eugene West said Vanessa Powell and sons are moving into Philadelphia Courts soon. I sent letter for Heap fuel phone interview. I washed white clothes. I called Vi to wish her a happy birthday, but no one was home.

A nice day. Some sun. Some clouds. I talked with Jane in morning. Merrill went to day care. My BP 144/70 and weight 146. Dr. LaPoint 10:30 AM. Blood work, urine test. I had pneumonia shot. She started me on Fosamax for my osteoporosis. Mine is bad. Lyla took me to city. Alice Satter went with us. She visit cousin in hospital. Lyla and I ate at Crystal. I had scallops. We shopped at Ames on State Street.
