A strange day. Thunderstorms, rain, wind, off and on all day. Tornado watch reported. Bad tornados across the US. Jim called from Syracuse to check on us. They took Sue’s sister to airport. She left for her home in Hawaii. We didn’t go to church. It has been a lazy day. I watched Children’s Network Telethon.

Colder today after all the storm. Sunny. 60°. Merrill went to day care. Vicki called from eye center. Selma Scrimmager 90 died yesterday. I sent Robin card, letter and $10.00. Sent $10 to Dexter fireman in Lawrence’s memory. Also wrote Bea Gehm. Paid cable and light bills. Our car needs to be inspected in June. Bill and Brenda moving back on their farm today.

Still cooler. I made chili and cake. I made bed upstairs. I called Shirley Scrimmager to say we couldn’t get to Selma’s funeral tomorrow. More thunder storms around at night. Not to bad here. We got new box of checks.

Quite cold in morning 40° Merrill didn’t go today care. The bus came just the same. I called Lyla. Robin’s birthday. Also Elmer’s 71st. I called hospital to ask what time I had to be there for operation. They said 11 AM. They called back later and said 9 AM. Vern called. He is sitting on jury. Jim called twice.

Eye operation on right eye 4:00. Jim took me and stayed with me all day. Merrill went to day care. Kathy came 6-8 AM and got Merrill ready and cleaned the house. We got home at noon. Jim left after supper. He called in evening Also Vernon. Jim took car battery to charge it. The passenger door got left open.

Nice today. Warmer. Merrill went to day care. Chad Dudley here in AM. Rebekah’s went to Caddy Shack at Clayton. 11 went. I went with Betty, Margaret, and Jane. Martha Meeks 55 birthday. She is in Samaritan hospital. Vivian was over. Brought me rhubarb salad and dessert. I called Juanita in evening. She was at the cemetery. I had a nice visit with David.

Raining and windy. Merrill didn’t go to day care. Transportation didn’t have a driver for him. I called Lyla. She took us to city. She drove our car. Dr. Richmond 2:15 PM. I can see more today than yesterday. I have to see Dr. Sanni Tuesday at 3:15. Eye pressure left 16, right 17. Both too high. I’m to use Cilopan only 4 times a day now instead of very 2 hours. Bea Gehm died tonight at 4:15 PM.

Raining some thunder. Warm. Lyla brought us chicken BBQ. Juanita called in morning. Bill and Brenda got 90 cows today. Juanita going to Kens to flea market this weekend. She and Lyle are going to Colorado August 12. Coming home August 24. Donnie coming home then on vacation. Quaker day in Philadelphia. Only one day this year. Vern and June called. June’s mother Bea Gehm died yesterday. June was wheeling her in her wheelchair when she died. Jim called. Sue had an accident with Jim’s car. She hit a cow in Lorraine. Sue not hurt but car badly damaged. Jolie drove to Long Island to spend weekend with Zack. I talked with Vi. Martha feeling better. Still in hospital.

Cloudy, raining. Combined church service at Evans Mills followed by dinner and farewell party for Rev. Elaine White. We didn’t go to it. Pauline R here for lunch and PM. Good to see her. She said Art and Doris are getting a double wide trailer and setting it up on farm. I called June but she had gone over to school June doing okay.

Cloudy and raining. I washed clothes. Lyla called. Dr. Sanni 3:15 PM. Lyla took us to cit. I go back in 3 weeks. Can get new glasses then. Jolie called. She had a good trip to West Point. Rained all weekend. Vern called. Wants to come after us but its best dad doesn’t go. I’m afraid he would get upset. Vivian was over. They are leaving for camp tomorrow for summer. Jim called in evening. Costs $2300 to get his car fixed.

Still cloudy. Some rain. Some sunshine. Norma here to clean. She went for groceries for me. It is in tonight’s paper that Rev. Frank Smith 70 has died. He was Dean at Camp Aldersgate the three years I was counselor there. He was a nice man. A retired minister called from Ore Bed Road (Broacatello) to ask about the Fuller farm. His relatives were Fullers. 30-32 are buried in Shurtleff Corners cemetery on Ore Bed Road. I called 3 prescriptions to drug store.

Sunny. Merrill went to day care. He didn’t sleep at all last night. He was very upset and tried to get lock off the door. Bea Gehm’s memorial service at 4 PM. I feel so bad we couldn’t be there but Merrill not up to it. Cancer Relay for Life Walk started this PM over on school grounds. Lots of jets flying over all day. Noisy.

80° a beautiful day. Vern, June, Dan, Robin, baby Lydia Grace (6 months), Steve, Kathy, Kristen, and Sarah here for dinner. June brought all the dinner. They had so much left from Bea’s funeral that people brought. She brought flowers also. Jim stopped in but couldn’t stay as he was taking the Explorers home. Cancer Relay a huge success. Bigger than last year. Made $157,000. 3000 attended Friday night. We got $28 check rebate on new vacuum cleaner. Lydia Grace is a beautiful sweet little baby. It is the first time Merrill and I have seen her. Merrill gave her the little bear he won at day care. I called Doris H.

We went to church. Doris Haggerty came after us. Rev. Elaine’s last Sunday at Philadelphia. A nice farewell service. Jan Liscomb next Sunday. Jim here when we got home mowing lawns. He brought his dad a huge card and gray summer cap. Jill came in PM. She gave Jim card and 2 shirts and grandpa a card Merrill took off in evening. Linda B brought him home. He said he was going to the womans house at the other side of Linda’s.

Another hot day. 85° Merrill went to day care. I washed white clothes. Linda brought me quart of strawberries she picked at Mills this AM. We had them for supper and they tasted great. I can see an improvement in my eye sight each day. I can’t wear my glasses as they are so blurry.

Cooler. Rainy. Merrill went to day care. We had one of the worst thunder and lightning storms I have ever seen about 2 AM. Lots of places hit none here. Our power off and on most of night. Elmer Gleason here with state petitions to sign. Chad Dudley here in PM. I talked with Vi at Martha’s. Martha feels weak after her radium treatment. Jolie called. Her car not working. Something wrong with clutch.

Cloudy windy hot and sunny by spells. 79°. Merrill went to day care. He worked up his garden in evening. I washed clothes. Lyla took me to bank to pay water bill and get groceries. I took her to Philadelphia Restaurant for lunch. I called for Dr. Mike appointment for Merrill. Thursday at 1:30 PM. The new minister, Jane Wagner moved her stuff into parsonage today. She and daughter come 2nd week in September. We got invite to Patrick Hagan’s wedding in August.

Rainy. Thunder storm with real hard rain in forenoon. Elmer and his daughter Charlotte McGregor and daughter in law. Rhonda (Leon) Tryon here in PM. Merrill enjoyed their visit. Cried when they left. Elmer left his medicine in Kansas. Leon sent it to him so it would get to him in Wolcott today. Merrill very upset in evening. Broke lock off kitchen door with a large butcher knife. He went to McKeevers and asked Barb to call police. I called Jim. He and Sue came out. He put lock back on door. Jim had got home to Sackets when I called.

Raining off and on. Hard at times. Merrill didn’t go to day care. R. Mirza – Merrill 10 AM. Janet VanOrnum from Oxbow took us. She was late and Lyla was ready to take us. We never got home until 12:45. Alice and JoAnne at doctor’s. Alice was admitted to hospital. Vi called in evening. She is still with Martha. I called her earlier. I called Sears Optical to inquire about glasses. The lawyer called about our wills. She will mail them by registered mail. I called Barbara Mc in evening. Merrill went over there last night.

Just a beautiful day. Dr. Mike – Merrill 1:30 PM. Vern and June came about 10:30. They had been to Syracuse for lawn mower parts. Vern filed out reports etc. I got them in the mail over town. He went to bank and got interest posted for me. He and I took Merrill to see Dr. Mike. Merrill’s heel swollen and black but Dr. said it wasn’t bad. Took away his thyroid pill. Norma H here to clean. Terrible fires in Florida. Lots of home lost. Steve T has a new job at BOCES at Mexico.

Another beautiful day. I washed clothes. We got rope back on flag pole. Merrill untied it when he took flag down. He also pulled strings off porch cushions for the second time. I called Lyla to tell her Vern would take me to eye doctor on Monday. The mailman brought our wills from lawyers.

Cloudy and rainy. Rained all day. Jim called from work. Jim M got home from Korea last night. I baked a cake. Jill and Jim here at suppertime. They went over town to 801 to see his Fort Drum Sgt. They are leaving for Indiana for a visit. Jill and Jim will probably be going to Colorado the middle of Sept. Jim goes to Missouri in 2 weeks for 8 weeks training.

Cloudy. Some sun. Merrill went to day care. Jim came out and mowed our lawns in AM. Dr. Sanni 1 PM. Vernon and June came out and took me to city. My left eye pressure is 18 right eye is 12. Got prescription for glasses. Left eye 20/70 right eye 20/40. Ordered all new glasses at Sears. Medicare pays most if it. I only pay $45.00. We stopped at Amish store and got some groceries. Vern and June left for home about 4:30. Merrill came home very upset. Vern brought Merrill new pair of Jobst elastic stockings from Boltons. Dr. Mike prescribed them. Medicaid pays.

Cloudy in AM. Sunny in PM. Merrill went to day care. Van didn’t come for him until 9:15 AM. Jim came out and took me to Sears for my new glasses. It’s so great to see so much better. I can see at a distance so much better. Jim said he had all his apartments occupied. Jolie called. She’s sending my sneakers out with Jim. Jim came out in evening and mowed the lawns. They look so nice. He brought white leather sneakers from Jolie 9 ½ medium. Fit just right. Merry Hull Norma Henderson’s sister died Friday. She was 52. She’s Tiny Hull’s mother.

Sunny and hot. I shampooed kitchen and bathroom and hallway carpets. Hard on my back. They look much cleaner but need a second cleaning as they were so soiled. I vacuumed them in evening and they look great. I called June and Vern in evening. They are getting ready for a two day garage sale. No dinners brought in as it is their annual picnic at Wescott Beach.

The windows don’t open. Norma H was here to clean. She went to store for me. Took my cans. Jolie called in evening upset about her day. She called back after Him had been to her house to say Sue and Jim had had a break-up after many years. I called Jim when he got home.

A little cooler. Breezy 77°. I washed white clothes. Lyla took us to dump with our recyclables and garbage. She said Edna Fikes passed out at Quaker Snack Bar (With ladies having coffee as usual this morning.) I cleaned floors. I called Vi to tell her about Edna. Julia had a baby girl. Julia Jean Ward born July 15. 6 pounds, 12 ounces. Jolie called. She went to Guthrie with asthma attack in night. I called Jim at work. Nancy H called offering us a ride to church in the morning. Vi called in evening.

Sunny nice breeze. In 80’s. We went to church. First time in 4 weeks. Wayne and Nancy came after us. We came home with Bob and Glenda. 35 out. A nice message by Jan Liscomb. Edna Fikes coming home from hospital today. Had spell not a heart attack. Wayne, Nancy and Andy are leaving today for a trip to see Amanda and husband in Wisconsin. Will stop at Buffalo College where Andy will be going this fall and also visit Rev. Carol Berry in Ohio. Jolie, Alexis and Jim, Ashley and Shawn Michael came for lunch. Jim went to Big M and got loads of stuff for lunch. Ashley said her mother and dad had separated. Zackary called about 6 PM but Jolie had left. All in all an enjoyable day. It was so great to see around church again. I could see pulpit again with new glasses.
