Diary Entry for 4/15/1990

Easter Sunday. No Sunday School. Easter breakfast and service at Mills, 7 AM. We didn’t go to Mills. 70 in church. Smallest turn out ever. Jim and kids here for dinner. Brought us box of candy and pictures.

Earth Day. We went to Sunday School 35, and church 40. A nice sunny day, 60°. About 50-60 bikers went by on our street this PM. Large ones. Hostage, Robert Pouhill (?), released after 3 years.

Warm and sunny. Merrill changed tire on car. He went to Horton’s for air. Melba called in evening to ay they are having Leslie’s burial on Saturday at noon at Wolcott. I called Stuart Jackson but he didn’t call back

Sunny and warmer. Merrill took off the storm windows. District Superintendent McClune called for a meeting Thursday evening. Merrill washed car. Called members of PPR committee. got long letter from June and Vern.

Meeting of PPR at Mills with District Superintendent at 8 PM. 8 there. Carolyn Berry, 28 from Delaware, Ohio may be our next pastor. We went for groceries in AM. Sent Kathy card, letter, and $5.00. Wayne Huntress here in evening. Howard Hall here in evening to visit with Merrill.

Carl Scee’s funeral. We went to it. Catholic service. Very nice. Lots of flowers. So good to see the kids again. All there but Shirley and Myrtle. Myrtle’s daughter real bad with MS. She’s 20 years old. Shopped at Pharmhouse.

Sent Patty birthday card. Got first asparagus. Washed clothes. Merrill mowed lawns. Jim called in evening. He has night off to attend Police Awards banquet at Pierpont Inn. He gets silver award for Midtown Towers fire help. 9 police got it.

Mother’s Day. Rainy and cloudy. We went to Sunday School 41, and church 57. Zellar baby baptized. Jim, Jill, and Joel here for dinner. Brought me red begonia plant and cake. Jolie started job at grocery store at Sackets today.

Sunny in the 60’s. Rained some in PM and evening. Froze 1 package of asparagus. I’ve been tired all day. Doctor’s office opened at shopping center here. Monday – Friday 9-5.

New church hymnals dedicated. We went to Sunday School 48, and church 53. Beulah C, Robert, Cheryl, Breanne, and Chrips (?) here for supper. Got here at 5:15. left at 8:30. Rained all day.

PPR meeting at Philadelphia with Carolyn Berry and District Superintendent, McClune. 12 present. Carol is very enthusiastic with a nice sense of humor. Folks liked her. She will be moving here the last week of June.

We went for groceries. We took door window to city for new glass. We went to Franks for tomato and cabbage plants. Got 4 red geraniums for cemetery. Set them out on the way home.

Party surprise for Alice Flaherty’s 80th birthday. Alice’s family all in church. We went to Sunday School 48, and church 90. Sunday School awards given. Joyce Griffin preached. Excellent. Beautiful day. Sunday School out for summer.
