Church bazaar 10 AM. Merrill took my stuff over, 2 dozen rolls, pumpkin pies, fudge, 3 turkey sandwiches, calendar books. Merrill went to dump. I washed clothes.

Collin canceled church at Mills. We went to Sunday School 33, and church 29. Lots of snow this morning. Merrill cleaned driveway. He got gas in PM. I called Debby. She is on disability. Got laid off at Fort Drum. Helen Tooley called in PM. Jim called in evening.

School delayed 1 1/2 hours because busses wouldn’t start. Very cold -20°. Sunny day. Started decorating for Christmas. Washed work clothes.

We started for city but got a hole in muffler so had to come back home. Got new muffler put on free in PM. George checked it. It is a Cole Muffler. Marie called in evening. Leslie very bad. They are taking turns caring for him.

We went to Wolcott to see Leslie. Beulah,(Marilyn, Timmy,Danny) Elmer (Leslie’s daughter) Marsha all there. We spent the night at June and Vern’s. Had supper there.

Came home by way of Jim’s. He has done so much on his house. Got home at 1:30. Good to be home. Got card and letter from Don’s and Cameron’s.

Roy’s 82nd birthday. We didn’t go to church. Youth had spaghetti supper after church. Christmas Sunday School program in evening. We went. Was great “Christmas Remembered”

Our 54th anniversary. Kerr-Carpenter Open House, 4-8 PM. We went. Very nice house so pretty. Merrill worked on church snowblower. He went to Mills for part for it. Didn’t get it going.

Still cold. Some snow. Wrote Don’s. Made triple batch of Christmas cookies. Got note from Beulah and Bea Gehm in cards.

Rebekah’s covered dish meeting and party, 1:30. 15 present. Very nice. Got HEAP application. Cold all day, but sunny.

Minus 22° below this morning. Sent back HEAP application. Went for groceries in AM. Frosted part of Christmas cookies. Christmas trees for shut-in baskets.

Vi’s 75th birthday. A little warmer. Terrible fire at Midtown Towers Senior Citizen home. 3 dead, 57 injured in -10° at 12:30 AM. Got card and note from Debbie. Also picture.

Pack Christmas baskets. 1 PM. We didn’t help this year. I called Melba in morning. Leslie about the same. Leslie died at 9:45 AM. Melba called. Merrill plowed out driveway. Called Jim and Vern’s. Jim called in evening. Elmer called at supper time. Funeral is Tuesday at 2 PM.

Still cold, 0° but nice day. We went to Sunday School 43, and church 42. Called Vern’s but got answer service to tell him Jim was going to funeral. Asked him to go with us.

Leslie’s funeral at 2 PM. We decided not to go to Leslie’s funeral as it is very stormy down that way. Oswego schools closed. Talked with Vern twice. Called Jim and Melba. Merrill worked at church snowblower and didn’t get it going. Baked apple pie.

War broke out in Panama over night by US attack. US Soldiers killed and injured. Sent Marie $20 check for flowers.

PPR meeting, 7:30 at Mills. Only 5 and Collin there. I went for groceries in AM. Merrill has a cold.

-27° over night. Only -5° all day. Lyla called in evening. Also Jim. He got 2nd highest mark on lieutenant test. Arrest near on Midtown Towers fire.

Jim called in evening from work. -25° here this morning. Below 0 all day. George Ludlow Jr. 26 arrested last night for setting Midtown fire one week ago. 3 people died in fire. Washed. Rev. Collin here to call. Youth group from church came caroling. Collin and Wayne too.

No Sunday School. We went to church 43. Also to Christmas eve service at Philadelphia. Good turnout to candlelight service. Jim called in evening. Jolie sick with cold. Merrill has one also. Marty Paro here in evening.

-8° over night. Washed clothes. Sunny but cold. Art Hall age 99 died tonight in Ogdensburg Hospital. Sackets Band got top place, AA rating. Jim called in evening.

We went to Sunday School 28, and church 24. Warmer, raining. 40° First time above zero weather. Over 20 days below zero temperatures during December. 2nd family moved into Carpenter Meadows.
