Got perm at Donna’s, $20. We voted in PM on increased budget for middle school. Lila called in evening to say Beulah Strader Gilmore 71 died in Canada. I called Pauline and Garmon. Pauline called back.

Raining. We went for groceries in morning. Rained about all day. Sun came out after supper.

Beulah Strader Gilmore’s funeral in Canada. We went with Pauline and Garmon. A large funeral. Served lunch at the church. Very hot. Police stopped us for driving too fast in 45 mile zone. No ticket.

Got stuff together for tomorrow. Called several. Made potato salad. Washed clothes.

We had a combined church service. Evans Mills, Philadelphia, Sprageville, and Antwerp ministries present to celebrate Collin and Kathy’s ordination. They told us they are pregnant. About 140 there. Great day. We went over to Aunt Maude’s.

Washed. Claude Simonds, 80 died at 8:40 this morning. Vi called. I am so sore and lame. I hate to move.

Don’s birthday. Sent him card and note. Took a salad to Leah’s. Stopped at Mowers. Went to mall and to fair. Carmel Quinn sang. Great. Saw Jim and kids at fair. Saw lots of folks we knew. Lila called. Gibson’s and Jim at Aunt Maude’s.

Vi, Edna, and I got supper at Leah’s. Bill and vi and us went to funeral home in evening. Lots of people. Leah’s brothers’ Glenn and Art and sister Leona here for funeral.

Claude’s funeral 11 AM. Merrill went to funeral. Ginny, Jill, Vi and I got lunch ready at Leah’s. We went to Vern and June’s in evening. Stopped at Ken’s on way. Eleanor was at the pond.

Vern and Merrill worked on house all day. Poured cement steps and got house boarded up. June and I went over to Gehm’s apartment. Very nice. It was very hot all day.

Vern and June gave us a luncheon boat ride on the triple decker boat at Oswego. Gehm’s, Steve, Kathy, Dan, 9 of us. Just great. Vern and Merrill put in windows. We stopped at Ken’s on way home. Rained hard in Oswego but none here. Very hot and humid.

We went to church, 28 out. We stopped at Leah’s a few minutes and went to store. Still hot and muggy. Napped in PM. Dorothy Hogaboom, 78 died Friday. Funeral Tuesday.

Wahed clothes. Froze yellow and green beans.

100°. Wrote Vern’s. Froze green beans. Ran fan all night but too hot to sleep.

98°. Too hot to do anything. Ran fan all night again so was able to sleep. Sackets band opened Empire Games at Syracuse. The kids are so great.

13th day of 90°-100° temperatures. We went for groceries in AM. Rained some in evening. Thunder storms all around us. Still very humid all night. Got thank you note from Rev’s Kerr-Carpenter.

Still hot and humid. Some showers. Washed. Used dryer except for sheets. Merrill cleaned floors. He took garbage. They take everything now.

We moved here 10 years ago today. Trustee meeting before church, 8:30. Had 36 at church. Rev. Collin and 3 kids leave for Illinois Youth ‘88. Started taking 2 Plaquenil a day for my arthritis.

Still hot. Not quite so humid. Froze beans. My arthritis bad in hip and leg.

Hot and humid, 90’s. I sat with Aunt Maude in PM. Got graduation thank you card from Donnie.

Small thunder storm in early morning. Still hot and very humid. Had first sweet corn from garden. Carl and Rev. Sommer here to get pipe threader.

Trustee meeting in evening. Only 4 there. Called Jim. Patty answered phone. She had just brought the girls home. Had first tomatoes from garden.

Holly’s birthday, 28. Very hot. 90’s. We went for groceries. Stopped at Leah’s.

Another very hot and humid day. In the 90’s. Washed clothes. Merrill cleaned floors.

90° but windy in PM. We went to church, 30 there. Charlie Covell had service. Colin and kids got home about 8 AM but had bad trip. Robert, Cheryl, Breanne, and Christie here in PM awhile.

Storms all around us last night. The heat spell finally broken. Much cooler. Sure is great. Rained in evening.

Slept great last night for first in weeks. Merrill went to bank, post office, and store. Washed clothes. Sent car insurance, $235.00.

Raining. Very humid but temperature down some. We went to Nichols for eye drops and pills. Merrill got cement for garage wall. They have sides up on house at Carpenter Meadows.

Much cooler, 60°. Washed bedding. Merrill finished garage walk. They put roof rafters on house at Carpenter Meadows. Sent card to Steve and Kathy. We walked down to new house in evening.

Down to 45° over night. Doris Benson Delles died lasts night of heart attack. We went for groceries. Saw Terry and girls.

A just beautiful day. Washed clothes. Called for food for Delles funeral.

Cold wind but nice. We went to church, 28. Jill in Miss Thousand Island Teenage Pageant at Edgewood Resort. The new front sidewalk is done. Looks nice. Cost $1600.

Steve and Kathy’s first anniversary. Took food to Fire Hall for Delles funeral. Laura here in evening. Brought us freeze dried ice cream from Smithsonian, Washington. Astronaut ice cream.

Cooler. Robbins fixed furnace at parsonage.

Merrill got hair cut. I made 2 pies, cookies, and 24 cup cakes. Part of them are for Jim’s. Raining in evening.

Got letter from June. Steve started new job at paper. Dr. Siegel, 9:45 AM. Blood pressure 132/80. We went to Jim’s. Took them garden stuff and baked stuff. Saw Jill’s Miss Teen Pageant film. She looked pretty. We went to Don’s. Had supper. Talked with Eleanor and Roberts. Stopped to see Ray. He is painting his garage.

Wrote June and Vern. Sent anniversary card. Merrill ordered wood from Tom Ellis $30. a cord. Froze 5 packages of corn from Don’s. Merrill went to post office twice. Mailman left mail in box I wanted mailed.

Vern and June’s 28th anniversary. Nice day. I washed clothes. Merrill mowed lawns. Mostly weeds. First time in weeks. It has been so dry. Jim and scouts camping today and tomorrow. Patty with kids. We went over to Aunt Maude’s but no one was there.

Raining. We went to church 38 there. Communion. Stopped at Aunt Maude’s on way home. Gary’s 35th birthday. Cheryl having a pool party for him. We went up to Pauline and Garmon’s in AM. Rained terrible on way home.

Raining some. Cooler. Patty called at supper time. Cheryl called after supper. Jim and Joel camping until Wednesday. My eyes bad today.

Aunt Maude had throat dilation. Dr. Batestta II for the first time. A passenger train went through Philadelphia at 11:15 AM for the first time in 24 years on way to State Fair at Syracuse. Froze 6 packages of corn.

Jury Duty, Philadelphia, 5:45. Rape case. Soldier and 15 year old girl. I got excused because of Jim. Kinley Bowers acting judge. About 50 there. Washed dress clothes and pressed them. They acquitted soldier at 12:30 AM.

Went for groceries. Sent Jim card, letter, and $5.00. Warm and sunny.

Jim’s 45th birthday. He called in evening. He had just returned from taking Walt Prow to college to Paul Smith’s. He has a paid full scholarship. Joel has a paper route now, 52 customers.

Washed clothes. Made apple pie. Darcy and Brent were over for visit. Brent getting so big. Very tall.

We went to church 35. Back to 11:15 AM now. Jim, kids and Jolie’s friend, Pat, here for dinner. Good to see them all. Raining. Telethon started at 9 PM.

Labor Day. Raining. Watched Jerry Lewis Telethon all day. $525.000 raised locally. 41 million plus nationally. 34 million corporate. Gary Belile’s 51st birthday. Lisa is 39.

Sunny but colder. Merrill went to Antwerp for sump pump for parsonage. Brenda Draper called in evening. They are coming out on Monday.
