1988. Randy and Elaine Horton had baby boy, Timothy Randall, 8 lb. 2 oz. born at 2:00 AM. They have 3 girls. Stephanie, Sammy and I saw the New Year in. Snowing and windy. Lazy day. Tired.

Got school tax notes, $608.55 up $98.77. There is a large colored picture of Randy and Elaine’s baby on back of today’s Times. Merrill and Bill Burns took down manger. Merrill helped at Horton’s in PM. I sent several checks, Reader’s Digest, American Ag., EPIC, and church benevolence for 1987, Cheryl here. Washed.

TV station WFYF Channel 50, Watertown goes on air for first. We went to Sunday School 42, and church 61. Took down Christmas decorations. Sunday School gave us all New Testaments.

Cold and windy and snowy. Merrill went over town for milk. Laura and Eric brought us a sandstone from their trip to Virginia. Good to have them back.

Cold and windy. Terrible storms Lowville, Pulaski, and Adams way. Routes 11, 3, and 81 closed. Jim has been made acting lieutenant on police force. Kenny Sloan has retired. S. Watson acting chief now.

Ken’s 68th birthday. Still very cold. No wind. Baked chocolate chip cookies. Very cold all day.

Donna’s 10:30 for perm, $20.00. -15° in morning. We went for groceries after kids left. Got 10 arrears money orders from June R. Power off 40 minutes in early morning at 5:50. Merrill has a cold.

Warmer. Merrill helped do chores at Horton’s while Randy took Elaine and baby to doctors. Snowed lightly most of day.

Beautiful day in morning but snowed hard in PM. Washed clothes. Merrill went to dump and cleaned driveway. Not much in it. We called Ken’s. Talked with Eleanor and Hillary.

We went to Sunday School 33, and church 37. Sunny day but cold.

Merrill got hair cut at Allen’s, $3.00. I got new bed pillows at McCrorys @ $4.00. Laura went skiing at Dry Hill after school for first time. Power off at 3:40 PM until 4:50 PM.

Administrative Council, 9 there. Chomsun here in evening. Wants me to baby sit Sam and Steve for an hour each day after school. Warmer today. Snow and melting.

Friday the 13th. Cold wind.

Very cold, -15° in morning. Power off twice in village after supper. Also other places because of over load due to cold.

Warmer, -8°. We went for groceries in AM. Worked on reports.

A great warm day 40°. Washed. Worked on reports. Sent $10 to committee working on Social Security and Medicare (Notch 1917)

Cobby had sermon. Joyce helped. We went to Sunday School 44, and church 47. Marge here for papers for her reports. Cloudy and some rain. Rev. Collin and youth at Aldersgate until tomorrow. We went over to Simonds in evening.

No school. Raining all day. We went to city for stuff at drug store. Got a plaid blouse. Marge here with her report. Dr. E. W. Roberts, 77 died today. My doctor for 37 years.

Sam walked home. Worked at Merrill’s and my reports. trustee meeting 7:30. Voted to paint, varnish, and build new bathroom in church. Dan starts student teaching at Liverpool. Jim called. All are well. Busy skiing.

No school because of weather. Icy in places but not here. Wrote Vern’s. Got long letter from them. Nice day in PM.

Jim’s 20th anniversary on Watertown Police Department. We went for groceries. Sunny but cold. Sam walked home again. I called Rosie G.

Jim’s kids qualify for Sherpa World Cut Amateur Snow Shoe races. Races tomorrow at Paul Smith’s. Washed clothes. Sunny day with a few flurries.

Trustee meeting at church. We went to Sunday School 50, and church 71. Jim and kids at Paul Smith’s races. We went over to Aunt Maude’s.

Sunny day. There is an article in Times about Donnie Hanson Devil Worship. Hard to believe he is involved.

Wrote Beulah M. Colder. There is an ad in Times tonight for someone to do work at church.

Rebekah’s. Merrill took me over as Ginny couldn’t come. 5 of us there. Cha kids not here. Only Eric in morning. Snowing when I went to bed. Audrey’s 64th birthday.

Snowing hard “Lake Effect”. Stopped in PM. A beautiful day. So white and pure. Lots of folks walking. No school. Got letter from Beulah. Our letters crossed in mail.

We went for groceries. Cold but so beautiful out. Frost in morning on everything. Sent for tax refund, $273.00.

50°. Trustees meeting with contractors at church. Lots interested. Only Wayne, Marie, and Merrill there. Washed clothes. Cleaned coffee maker 1st time. Snowtown USA ‘88 in action. Parade today.

We went to Sunday School 60, and church 41. Cloudy but like spring. Temperature in 50’s. Chomsun here in evening. Paid me $18.00.

Stephanie Cha’s 14th birthday. Cloudy and colder. Accident on corner in evening.

Dr. Scanlon 1:30. Everything okay. Betty Fikes died. Cloudy. Snow over night. Ground Hog Day. No sun.

Clinic: Merrill 148/72, blood count 15.5. Mine 160/88, count 12. We went to new Con (?) Store for first time. Lisa B manages it. Merrill ordered window washer for car. Rev. Collin’s 29th birthday.

We went for groceries. Cold. Merrill got washer for car at Napa store, $22.00. Sears called to say our chairs are in. Called Jim. Audrey has to have x-rays. Hurt her hip.

Sammy here all PM. Cha took him to Doctor. Merrill took food to Legion for Betty Fikes funeral. Merrill had George Seko put washer on car, $8.00. Carl Scee is in Mercy Hospital for 3 months.

Very wintery. Cold, snowing, and blowing in AM. Washed clothes. Wrote Vern’s. Cleared in evening but cold.

We went to Sunday School 38, and church 47. Communion. Vern’s called. Snowtown USA ended.

School delayed 2 hours to clean out snow. Beautiful day here. Cold wind. Washed. Abraham Lincoln visited the grade school and gave each one a shinny Lincoln penny.

Jim and Walt brought our 2 chairs. Trustee meeting, 7:30. They are picking ones to do work. Bob Boscheck in charge. Merrill went for gas, groceries, and to bank. Bought school pizza, $3.25 for Recardo, exchange student from Brazil.

Rebekah’s. They are cleaning floor so will have to meet in PM. I didn’t go as kids are here at 2:30. Nice day but still cold.

We went for groceries in AM. Sent Joel card, letter, and $5.00.

School delayed 1 hour. Most all schools closed. Snowing hard all day.

Joel’s 12th birthday. Still snowing and blowing some. Washed clothes. Merrill cleaned driveways. Made dump-it cake.

Sunny today. 20-30°. We went to Sunday School 44, and church 57. Sunday School decorated cans of food for love offering. I called for food for Jenne funeral.

Holiday, President’s Day. Snowing. No school this week. Made cake to take to Jenne’s. They started work on church today. Merrill took food over to Sina’s for the Jenne funeral.

Warmer. Light snow. Seems quiet without kids here. Merrill washed car. He went over to church. Lots getting done. They took out seats.
