Diary Entry for 9/9/1985

Aunt Maude went to hospital, knee infection. Sunday School started today. We are back in church building after about 12 years. Church 42. Jim, Patty, Joel, and Jill here for supper. Merrill ordered load of logs from Lowville, $175.00. Worked at Horton’s all day. June R here. She got 10 cows.

Finished Icicle pickles. 6 pints. They surveyed CEC property yesterday. 350X66 foot lot. Sunny but cool. Rained some in PM. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Called Lila. Aunt Maude not good. They are using restraints to keep her in bed or chair.

Dr. Heldt, 4 PM. I have to have more tests at hospital on Monday. Saw Peggy and Don Moore at Dr. Haldt’s. Good visit. Saw Aunt Maude at hospital. She’s not good. Had bad night. Sears repairman got new timer on washer

First Administrative Council with Rev. Collin, 11 out. Beautiful summer day. I did a huge wash. Merrill started cutting wood. Went to Mills for oil. I signed for cassette with Laura Delles, Barbara Mandrel tape.

I went for blood tests and other tests at hospital. Saw Aunt Maude. Cheryl there. Signed paper for Cheryl power of Attorney. Talked with Patty and Beula. Sent Vern card, letter, and $5. Still very hot. Charles and Dawn Kiechle had baby girl born today, Jacqueline Elizabeth.

We went to Sunday School and church, 49 there. Jim, Patty, and kids here. Patty brought lasagna and ginger bread for super. Delicious. Pauline Garmon and Uncle Len here on way home from Canada. Saw Charlie Ault there.

Rev. Bruce Chipman on pulpit exchange. We went to Sunday School and church, 56 there. We went to Don’s in PM. Got eye drops. Stopped to see Beulah. She broke her arm. Stopped to see Aunt Maude at hospital. Roy was at Don’s. I called Jim’s.

Merrill finished cutting rest of wood before he went to Horton’s to drive tractor all day. Chopper broke down in PM. Corrine Simonds called. June here in PM. She got 22 heifers in all. Talked with Cheryl and Lila. Aunt Maude coming home tomorrow.

Aunt Maude home from hospital today. She called me in evening. She is glad to be home after 3 weeks and 3 days. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. Cold wind. Got bill for anesthesia, $168.00

Merrill didn’t have to go to Horton’s today. Their new minister, Rev. Bruce Beers moves in. Sent Bea Gehm card. Merrill mowed lawns. We went for groceries. June R here to use phone. I called on Lancaster’s. Took them cabbage. UMW at Doris Haggerty’s. I went with Marion Smith. 10 out.

Raining. We went to city. Church doors all together so couldn’t get them in station wagon. Got 4 gallon Preston. I got black bag and brown one. Washed clothes. Merrill is getting a cold. Slept all PM. Went to bed before 7 PM.

Larry leaves for Texas. They all went to Syracuse airport to see him off. I spent the day with Aunt Maude. She is so much better. Merrill worked at Horton’s all day. He went to store in evening. Nice day but cool wind.

Rebekah installation, 26 present. Leah NG and Ginny VG. I’m chaplain again. Mary Chamberlain installed us. Patty called in AM. Merrill called White’s about church doors. They cost $728.60. Got check from Medicare, $26.72 for Dr. Heldt’s office call.

Merrill helped cover ensilage at Horton’s. Rained in PM so they didn’t cut corn. We went for groceries. It is a mess around the Big M store. Parking lot is being made larger. Putting in foundation too. Double the size of store. Got card and note from Vern’s. Had good trip to Adirondack.

Merrill and Bill Burns went to White’s for church doors. Mary Dingman married today. Merrill worked at Horton’s in PM. I washed clothes. Baked pie crusts and brownies. The leaves are getting so colorful.

Agway dinner. I made 2 pies for it. 391 tickets. Made $831 each. We went to it this year. Raining. Got jewelry and check from Uncle Berl’s estate by registered mail. Jerry Delles brought load of stone, $48.61. Merrill spread it all today. He’s tired tonight. June R here in PM.

Merrill helped Carl get mattress and springs to his mother’s. Carl and Cheryl going to Marks tomorrow. Wrote Vern and June. Sunny and nice. Kathy VanTassel’s birthday. Sent Aunt Maude birthday card.

Men moved piano from CEC to parsonage. Nice day. Washed clothes. My arthritis real bad. Huge football game at school. Indian River Central won over General Brown, 16-0. They have 7-0 game wins. Get to play at Syracuse dome.
