Darcy’s 10th birthday. Gave her card and $1. Sarah Fredericks moves back to Canada today. Got insurance notice, $186. Up $13. Got groceries. Cloudy and muggy. Howard Gleesner [see 5/28-29] died during open heart surgery at Upstate.

Jim and the Explorers start cleaning up Thompson Park today. 14.3% increase in Social Security today. $45 increase for us. Washed. Merrill painted steps and threshold green. Merrill got hair cut. Had car inspected, $6.

Iron shot. Paid Glenda $10. We went to Leland Shannon’s funeral at church. Rev. Quick’s first work here. He’s very good. We stopped at Ruth and Clarence Schell’s.

Lyla and Jim Ashley’s 35th anniversary at Legion. Very nice. Marg, Roy and Beulah out to it. Had a sandwich here first. We went to Theresa funeral home for Howard Gleesner in evening. Merrill mowed lawns in forenoon.

Rev. Quick’s first Sunday. Early, 9:30 AM. 86 out. Very nice. Jim, Pat, and kids here for lunch. Open house for Lee and Isabelle Hall. A nice party, chicken barbecue. Made pie and got turkey ready.

Don and Bea Gehm, Vern, June, and boys got here about 10:30 AM. Had turkey dinner. Jim, Patty and kids here for supper. A great time together. All left about 8 PM. My hand and arm very lame. Called Dr. Roberts.

Raining hard. Merrill had muffler and cross bar put on car at Cole Muffler. Cost $69.29. He went to dump. Sent Times subscription for 25 weeks for $25. Dr. Roberts called. I’m not to increase iron as my iron count is normal. We went to ice cream social at Mills with Bill and Vi. Tracy’s group sang.

My arm and hand very sore. Sent Jolie card and $5. Washed clothes. Merrill cleaned church and put in basement window. He met Nancy’s father and mother from Rome.

Jolie’s 9th birthday. A beautiful day. Washed clothes. Merrill run cleaner. Got first letter from Rev. Cameron. Their son Bob, and family from Colorado was in Florida when they got there. Their furniture didn’t get there until July 1st.

Wrote Vern’s. Washed clothes. They dried good. Merrill took car to Gouverneur but they couldn’t work on it until next week. Joe, here in Philadelphia, found a carburetor hose plug. Works good now.

Nice day but cooler. We spent day at Jim and Pat’s. Men worked on house. Ordered part at Sears for stove, $4.39. Merrill got back $36.20 on muffler. Wedding reception in evening at Preston’s for Kevin’s sister.

Rev. Quick’s 2nd Sunday here, 60 out. Jim’s came but in PM. We went to Child’s Falls swimming. Had cook out in back yard, followed by a baseball game. Such a relaxing day. I got a sun burn. Jim’s badge is number 15.

Don and Juanita’s 30th anniversary. Baked brownies, cup cakes, and strawberry pie. Hot and humid all day. Terrible thunder storms in late evening. Got letter from Angie, thank you and family picture from Lyla and Jim.

They black topped road by Motel today. It was in very bad shape. Baked cookies. Thelma S here about housing. Got letter from Vernon’s, and a card from Evelyn and Howard from Florida.

Clark and Vivian Trice’s 25th anniversary open house. Both in PM and evening. We went over in evening. Most of neighbors there then. Gave them card and $5. Thelma Scrimmagar here in PM. Sat in back yard most of day. Merrill stopped at Halls. Howard paid him $164.

Town Board meeting on zoning. We went. Rained off and on all day here. Joe couldn’t’ work on car. Too wet. Joyce called about Shelley’s wedding reception. Black topped Preston’s driveway. Beulah’s went camping. Washed clothes.

Wrote Vern’s. Joe put manifold on car, $10. Went to Gouverneur for parts to put on carburetor. Boots and I went also. Got groceries in PM. My arthritis bad today, right arm and shoulder.

Mrs. Cameron’s birthday. Gallea and Sam MacKinney at church. We went to church, 96 out. Art and Doris’s 3 grandchildren baptized. Went to picnic dinner on church lawn, 40 there. Called Patty. Jim to go back on beat today.

Administrative Board meeting first one with Rev. Quick, 15 out. Home at 9 PM. Vern called at 10 PM. Got letter from Rev.Cameron. Third vote on school budget, bus and sports issues. Glenda gave me iron shot. Washed bedding and clothes.

Rained all night. We went to city. Poured most of day. Had lab tests. Got Imferon, $25.05. I got 2 pair of white shoes and a blouse. Got 4 pyrex mugs. Vern, June and boys got here about 4:30 PM. Spent night. Talked with Patty.
