President Nixon pardoned on Watergate. Vern goes to Washington, DC. We went for ride around Philadelphia. Went to store. Lisa, Donna, Nora and Linda here. Cloudy day. Phone out in AM. Merrill called repairman from Hales.

Aunt Keitha goes to Seattle Washing for winter. Mom, Roy and Marg left about 10 AM. I canned 1 quart of pears and 5 cans chili sauce. Neighbor’s night at Rebekah’s. 24 there. I went. Leah had meeting. Betty R was working. Nice day.

Raining off and on. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. Merrill started digging up Iris. Jim, Pat, and Jolie here for supper. He had to go to work at 8 PM. I canned 2 cans pears. Gave a few tomatoes to Lorraine B. Camp Drum is now called Fort Drum.

Sears repairman here. Thermostat on stove burned out. Will be 2 weeks before part is here. I renewed Readers Digest with Debbie Guttering. Merrill dug up Iris and Jonquil bulbs. Got 30 pound tin of berries and 12 boxes of vegetables. Got thank you from Doreen for graduation gift. Merrill went to Agway.

We reset Iris and Jonquil bulbs. Merrill took rubbish to dump. Washed my hair. Aunt Maude called and invited us to party for Kathy and David tomorrow night.

Bob S called in morning to say Rev. Blankenship has left Philadelphia alone. Meeting at CEC tonight. Superintendent Wood to preach today and have meeting tonight. Merrill and I went to meeting. Went over to Aunt Maude’s afterwards. Had some of Kathy and David’s wedding cake.

4-H Cook Out. All here but Cindy. Kids brought food. Also Shelly Alquire and Mary Hall. A nice time. Went for a ride around meadow. A beautiful day. Very warm. Boots and I went to Philadelphia for groceries.

Vern’s 38th birthday. Cloudy and rainy all day. Phone out again from rain. Sunday School had a paper drive. I worked at 4-H business all PM. Made corn flake cookies in evening.

Rev. Harold Barnard, Adams, in charge of church service. Good turn out at church. Group came with Mattingly’s. Jim, Patty and Jolie here for supper. Jim didn’t work at Fays today. Covered flowers in evening for first.

Had first killing frost last night. Zinnia’s frost bitten even though we covered them. Made green tomato mincemeat, 4 pints. Merrill picked shrub apples, 3 pails. He caulked porch windows. I washed clothes.

Coal is $62 a ton, and gas $49 cents a gallon. Got perm from Donna H. She gave it to me for $10 but I’m sure it cost more. Protein one. Very nice. I went to store. Wrote June and boys. Vern left for Colorado today. We went over to Bill and Brenda’s in evening.

Boots and I went to bank and for groceries. Merrill chopped grass for bedding. Laura and Dawn here in evening. Called from Sears. They are fixing stove tomorrow. Roy and Carol Matteson have baby boy, Adam Roy, 8 lb, 2 oz born today.

4-H Talent Show, 7:30. Nora, Linda, Lisa and Donna sang. Allison played piano. She got blue, other’s red. Anne, Allison, Dawn, Lisa, Donna and Lamica’s went with us. Sears repairman for stove, $71.94 for thermostat and censor. Got letter from June and Dan. Vern in Denver and Steve at 5th grade Camp.

We went to church. Rev Barnard, Adams, speaker. Good turn out. We went out home but they were at Brenda’s. Debby has been at Halfway house in Watertown for 3 weeks. We stopped at Bill and Brenda’s on way home. Doreen and Mike are getting married the 19th. Mike is working at WATN radio.

Bea Gehm’s birthday. Marg’s 62nd birthday. Took girls to Donna’s shop. Set up 4-H window. Marie, Judy, Lorraine, Jodi, and Jamie. (Horse show). Dawn was over with her calf. I’m awfully tired today. Went to bed at 8:30.

Everything white with a heavy frost this morning. Took Merrill’s suit to Vera’s to go to dry cleaners Wednesday. Back Saturday. We went to Aunt Maude’s to check her furnace for blower.

I didn’t go to Lodge. Patty came for Jolie. Here for supper. I washed my hair. Pat styled it for me. It looks nice. Dawn was over. Cheryl brought down glass in evening to be cut. Howard’s, Bill Zeller, and another guy here in evening with saw blade.

Rebekah’s Assembly’s Presidents official visit at Antwerp. I went with Vi in evening. Didn’t go to dinner. Donna called and said we got blue award on 4-H window. 155 at Antwerp for Lodge meeting. Home at 11 PM.

4-H achievement Night at General Brown, 8 PM. Very nice school and almost full. L Hall’s and us took all the club but Donna, Cindy, Allison and Vicky. We went to city in AM. Merrill went to dentist. I got dress at Penny’s $22, shoes at Woolworth’s $9. Merrill got suit at Robert Halls, $42.

Dr. Robert Jones, Pastor for 1st time today. About 100 in church. Nice service. We went to Don’s and Mom’s. Merrill got suit from Robert hall’s. I have head ache. We ate at McDonalds. We went to church in evening. 55 there.

Sent $12 for Moody Monthly for Uncle Berl and mine. Wrote Beulah Hall. I went to hospital for blood test at 9. Brenda went with me to Dr. Couch. We hurried home as air was going out of tire. Merrill took it to Floods. It had a tire spike in it. Put on winter tires. I froze pie apples. Merrill put in window at Lodge Hall.

Nice day. Donna did my hair at noon. Wouldn’t take any pay. Leah called and asked me to be a Banner Bearer. Vern called in evening. They aren’t coming to Doreen’s wedding as Vern has to go to Syracuse. Are coming here next week end. Friday evening and Saturday.

Doreen Hanson and Michael Ring’s wedding. A lovely wedding and reception. Debby, Patty, Jolie went with us. We went up to Mom’s before wedding. Got home at 6:15. Janet Hall Kelsey died, 37. Aunt Maude’s birthday.

Mom and Dad would have been married 60 years today. Merrill broke glass in front door. I washed clothes. I went to PNG’s at Margaret Waters. Vi and Edna on committee. Janet Kelsey funeral. She had Huntington’s Disease, but died of cancer.

Went to Martha’s to plan Agway supper, 1:30. Merrill took tractor to Bill’s. I went after him. Steve’s 10th birthday. Vern’s come. Got here about 7 PM. Gave Steve his sweater. Bill, Brenda, Robin and Mark brought over strawberries.
