4-H here. Only Marie and Lorraine came as Linda didn’t call the girls. Rainy in AM. Merrill put shingles on back of barn. Called Vern’s in evening. All set to go to Maryland. Vern got new job at College. Chairman of Department of Industrial Arts.

Vern’s leave for Maryland at noon. Rained all day. We went to Ken’s and out home. Planned party for Mom. Uncle Lloyd’s 72nd birthday. Took Mom donuts.

We mowed 2 lawns. Merrill plowed Pat’s and our garden. Sharon and Larry, Lorraine and Dawn here at supper time. Anne Wilmert in hospital with back burn. Her shirt caught fire. Wrote Mother T. Called Marion S. Aunt Keitha called in evening.

Uncle Ray would have been 70 today. Been gone 4 years last Feb. 11th. Vern gets Doctorate Degree from University of Maryland, 10 AM. I made pies for supper at Legion. I worked on supper. Huge crowd out to Legion and Fireman’s

Rainy and cloudy. We went to church. Bill and Linda Mattingly are going to Expo 72 in Texas. Got $50 in collection today for them. We went over to Art and Doris in PM. Abby, Bob, and boys there also. Mr. and Mrs. Marty Smith went to Texas also.

Washed clothes. Mrs. Roy (Sally) Smith died in Ogdensburg. Council of Ministries was called off so Rev B. could be with Roy. Made several calls about change.

Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Blankenship, Jr. got to Philadelphia. WSCS at Vi’s. 14 out. Her house is very nice. Ironed clothes. Sent letter and Vern’s picture to Times and gave it to Marguerite for Gouverneur paper. I made cherry dump cake for WSCS. Minnie got crackers and cheese. Washed kitchen curtains. Dawn over.

Sears brought Pat’s bathroom stuff. Dawn was over in PM. We went to funeral home for Sally Smith. Stopped at Vi’s for my dishes.

Got graduation invitation, Bonnie Haggerty and Sally Hacker. Council of Ministries at church. Only Rev B, Matt, Esther, Martha and I out to it. Jim and Pat and Jolie here for lunch and supper. We went to city in AM for eye drops and tomato plants. Merrill planted cukes.

Sent Blankenship’s anniversary card. Merrill set out tomato plants. We went to Philadelphia for groceries. I went to Theresa Church with Leah to hear Marjorie Nellis tell of Africa. Very nice. None from Philadelphia went.

Cold and rainy. I went to Full Gospel Meeting with Ruth and Theresa Women. Merrill went to city with Pat and his brother-in-law. George Smith got married today.

Light frost last night. Very cool. Rev B’s folks at Sunday School and Church. We went to both. We mowed lawns. Merrill did most of them. Vern called. They had a nice vacation, graduation, etc.

Still cold and cloudy. Merrill cleaned garage. I washed rugs and Merrill’s clothes. Cleaned cupboards. Elgin called. They can’t come Sunday. George Peterson had accident 2 weeks ago. In Winchester hospital yet. Dawn and Jeff here. Wrote Don’s. Eva Delles died this morning.

Wrote Ken’s. Eva Delles wake. Warmer but cloudy. We went to Jim’s. Merrill helped Jim fix drain for washer. Mary and I went to Delles in evening.

Eva Delles funeral. Exchange of collars at Lodge. Lillian Neuroth to Leah Simonds. Very warm all day, 84°. Merrill cut weeds. Cleaned upstairs. Michael Keichels won California trip at Big M.

Very hot and humid. I finished cleaning house. Merrill washed car and garage floor. I made Vern cake. Got graduation invitations from Sharon.

Eleanor called. Got Mom TV, $129. Father and Child banquet. Merrill didn’t go. We went to Theresa. I got slacks and top. Got Mom house coat. We stopped at Pat’s house on way. Made cake for Mom’s birthday. Merrill got Father’s Day cards from Vern’s. Merrill mowed all lawns. I went to Philadelphia for groceries.

Mom’s 80th birthday. Beautiful day. Cooler. I decorated her cake. washed my hair. Pat and brother-in-law went back to New Jersey.

Father’s Day. Mom’s birthday party here with family get together. A beautiful day, 83° here. Mom enjoyed every minute. We gave her 16 inch TV. 14 here for supper. Vern’s brought me Fostoria cake plate from Washington, DC. Celebrated Vern’s getting Doctorate.

Hot, Humid day. Lazy day. Merrill got oil changed in car. Also changed tire.

PNG’s to Dick Cooke’s. 18 went. I went with Leah. We took Mom to Bowman’s to stay awhile. Bowman’s place is so nice. Nice day. Nice diner. Helen Keichels father died. He was at her house.

Rained all day and evening. Flash floods expected. Hurricane Agnes the cause. I went to Bible Study at parsonage in evening with Ruth. Kids told of Texas trip. wonderful experience. Pat back to work on house.

I went to Philadelphia for groceries in AM. Merrill went to city with Pat. Very windy in PM. Power off and on all evening. Lots of damage Lowville way from flood waters.

Last day of school. Hurricane Agnes over Pennsylvania now. Lots of damage. Raining and windy. IRC graduation. Sharon Hall and Bonnie Haggerty graduates. Merrill went next door to Pat’s.

Hurricane Agnes in Buffalo area. Lots of damage and many had to vacate their homes. Rained all PM and evening. Wrote Vern’s. Merrill mowed 3 lawns. I raked front lawn of leaves and branches. Washed my hair. Washed clothes. Art Halls auction.

We went to church. Went to Woolworth’s and Fays. Ate lunch at Woolworth’s. Rose and Asa Petrie here in evening. Raining again.

June’s 34th birthday. Gave myself a Tip Toni. Merrill helped Hall’s on cottage. I went with Evelyn to pick him up at night. Made June’s birthday cake and decorated it. Vern called in evening for papering brushes. Raining. I went to Philadelphia to bank and for groceries.

We went to Vern’s. Jim’s went by themselves. A very nice day. Vern’s new furniture came while we were there. Dining room table and 6 chairs. Also green sofa, and tan velvet chairs. We took June a birthday cake and lawn chair. Gave Vern chase lounge for graduation gift, $31.

Sent Sharon H. and Bonnie H. $3 checks for graduation. Merrill went to Lafargeville for cutter bar for mowing machine. He went to city with Pat. I went to Lodge. Only 8 out. Called Martha Pitts about by-laws. Very warm.

Cleaned house. Debbie G. here to repair dress for Fair. Dawn was over. Merrill mowed yard at Pat’s with mowing machine. Cut roadsides. I’ve used eye drops two years today.

Had Andy 3 years. Rained hard all day. Started during night. We went to city. Merrill got work shoes, $11.74. Got Jolie’s birthday present at Pennys. Clothes and ball. Got Boots larger collar.

No rain today. Nice day. Pat brancatella and his father brought their furniture. Ate dinner here. We mowed all 3 lawns. Merrill cut weeds at Pat’s. I made 2 pumpkin pies and pumpkin bread. Washed my hair in evening.

Church at 9:30 AM. We went. Rev. Cantaldo spoke. We went up to Uncle Len’s for dinner. Mother T, Leslie and Grace M. came in evening. Spent the night. The Brancatella family arrived at new home at 6 PM.

Raining hard all day. Folks left about 11 AM. Pat B. got 1st gallon milk @60 cents. His 6 year son Patsy came over with him. Ironed clothes.

Ice Cream Social. I made loaf cake, 12 noon. We went to Frog Family Contest, Ice Cream Social, and Band Concert. Jim and Pat and Jolie came out and came to Philadelphia also. Here for supper. Pat B and kids over after milk. Washed clothes.

Washed. Finally finished ironing. Merrill went to city with Pat, unemployment office. Jeff and Dawn here. Also Brancatella kids. Merrill raked hay in Pat’s door yard. Still wet. Cool today.

Scrubbed and waxed kitchen floor. Merrill mowed lawn by house. I baked cookies.

4-H here, 1 PM. 10 here. 3 Brancatella girls came. Had meeting outdoors. Merrill mowed first hay across road. Juanita called. Wants us to get Doreen and Debby from Aldersgate Saturday. Elgin called. Mom is coming home Sunday evening. Merrill mowed other 2 lawns.

Juanita called last night. She had someone to go after girls. We went to city. Got battery for baler, $16. We stopped next door. Saw Mrs. B. and Tina for first time. We went to Centennial Fiddler Contest. Very good, good turnout. Uncle Lloyd and Aunt Esther’s 50th anniversary.

Beautiful day. We went to church. Merrill raked hay in PM. Millicent and I went to Canada for Mom. Elgin dropped her off at Bridge on his way to Kingston. We took Mom home in evening. Doreen came home with us.

Jolie’s 1st birthday. They came in PM. Here for supper. Gave Jolie clothes, sun dress, overalls, and blouse. Also ball. Had Mom’s birthday cake with 1 candle on it. Merrill and Doreen went uptown to bank. Raining all day. Pat B. traded pasturing for colt and calf.

Doreen and I went over to Brancatella’s. Merrill helped move out freezer from cellar. We went to see Mrs. Beardsley. Made dentist appointment and Vet appointment. Doreen and I went to Oral Roberts movie with Ruth.

Boots Vet appointment. Distemper and Hepatitis shots, 1:00 PM, $8. Very hot. Drawed 2 loads of hay. First time this year. Pat B. helped for 2 hours. We went to Philadelphia to band concert and ice cream social.

Drawed 2 1/2 loads of hay. It rained hard in evening. Pat helped 4 hours. Washed clothes and washed my hair in evening. Merrill and Pat went to Gouverneur looking for auction in evening. Pat here for lunch today.

Cloudy and raining all day. I had tooth filled, $7, Dr Sommers. Merrill and Pat B. changed toilet upstairs. Doreen and I went to Pulpit Rock in evening. Took Boots with us. Made appointment with Dr, Roberts for Merrill on Monday at 4:30.

Alumni Banquet at 6:30. I took up 2 pies to it. Didn’t work. Merrill, Doreen and I mowed lawns. Raining in evening. Thunder storms too. Washed clothes. Doreen and I cleaned house. Sent $15 to Sears.

Everett Carpenter won Beard Contest. Philadelphia won over Clayton Centennial Tug of War. We went to church. Drove over to Mills to see Brenda and Bill’s farm. Went to Aunt Maude’s. Ella Brown is there. Cheryl and Sheila left for Tennessee this morning. We went to Centennial doings.

Merrill’s appointment with Dr. Roberts., 4:30. He sent him for x-rays to Dr. Sackles. We took Doreen home. Mom, kids, and us went to visit Brenda, 1st time. Dawn and Graves girl, Tracy, 15, here in evening.

Got 1971 Dodge Station Wagon at Seaker’s, $2345 and our car, $795. 17,700 miles on it. Merrill and Pat went to Gouverneur sale barn. Very hot and muggy.
