Another rainy day. Wonder when we will get hay in the barn. Merrill went up to Fred Hills to have started checked for small tractor.

Wrote Vern’s. Still raining. Oats looked terrible this morning. Jim and Pat here in PM. They got carpet tiles for their bathroom. Also got braided rug for living room at Sears.

A beautiful day after all the rain. Bill and Vi went with us to Upper Canada Village. Very nice. A very enjoyable day.

Another beautiful day. Merrill mowed hay by house. Last of 17 acres too wet to mow. We mowed lawns. I painted flag pole, mail box, and bird feeder. Mosquitos too bad. I had to stop painting.

Aunt Keitha’s birthday. Sent Don card and letter. We drawed two load of hay. Hot and muggy. I painted lawn furniture and porch trim. Called kids about fair. Got Spiegel winter catalog. Merrill raked first of hay.

Rained some during night. We drawed 2 load of hay but didn’t bale good. I went to Philadelphia for groceries. Cleaned house. Washed my hair. Cut Iris by porch. Took 4-H fair cards to Lamica [?] girls.

Don’s 47th birthday. Spent all day out doors. Merrill mowed some hay in AM. Jim and Pat came after work. Got them supper. I took 4-H cards to Marie and Mary. Marion S here in evening. Also Debby.

Jefferson County Fair. Mary H, Marion Schell and I took boys and girls clubs to fair. Very hot. All girls had exhibits except Robin and Tammy H. Merrill cleaned 4 acre field while I was gone. I got home at 2 PM. We drawed one load of hay from back of barn.

Terry H is going to help us mow away hay. 50 cents a load. He did first load in 30 minutes. We put in 2 loads today. Hot and muggy. Mrs. Mildred Chase Beardsley called in evening to see if we would sell farm. A Syracuse doctor is interested.

Very hot and humid. Smog all day. We drawed two load of hay in PM. Merrill mowed rest of field by barn. Washed clothes. I went to Philadelphia for groceries in AM. Got car insurance $103.

Still hot and humid. Rained in AM. We went to Fair in AM. Got groceries and drugs at Seaway. Second bottle of eye drops. $4.85. 4-H day at fair. Marion Schell here in evening.

Still cloudy, hot and humid. Merrill mowed lawn by house. Rained in PM. I went to Mary’s in evening. Their phone is out.

Rained in AM. Cleared in PM. I took some 4-H girls to fair for exhibits and checks. Debby H got $7. Highest except for Jamie Schell’s house show award. Merrill finished mowing lawns. Drawed load of hay.

Cooler today. Seems good. Sunday, but we worked all day. Drawed 3 load of hay that was cut July 29. Finally got dried out but it isn’t much good. Terry mowed away hay for us.

Raining again. We went to city to Mom’s. Took TV to Thompson’s. Got thing for porch door. Merrill got parts for combine at Frys, $43. Uncle Lloyd was at Mom’s, also Florence. Donnie is so cute.

Wrote Bests about slides I haven’t received. They were sent June 25th. Wrote Uncle Berl. Merrill mowed more hay. Jim and Pat here in PM and for supper. Jim and Merrill put on new muffler on Jim’s Chevrolet car. Debby G here to ask about using pattern. Debby & Dawn brought over vegetables and glads.

Halls left on vacation for a few days. Wrote Mother T and sent Cindy card, money and letter for birthday. Merrill raked hay. We drawed two loads. First from back of ledge. Nice day. Cool in evening.

Cindy’s 9th birthday. Nice day. We drawed two load of hay. Merrill raked hay. Both tired tonight. Washed my hair and took bath. Mr. Thompson called to say TV is fixed $35.

Vern’s last day of summer school . I went to city for groceries and TV at Thompson’s. Lots of Hippies on way to Rock Festival in Canada. 3 load of hay. Mow about full. Rained some in evening. Merrill put cows back in 17 acres for first.

Had vet for cow, $8. Drawed 2 load of hay. Cleaned up what is cut. About 10 acres yet to mow. Washed Merrill’s clothes. Cleaned house and I mowed two lawns in evening. Tired tonight. Washed my hair. Hall’s got home about 9 PM from vacation.

Cow no better. Beautiful day but warm. We took picnic lunch and drove along St. lawrence River on Route 12. Ate at rest stop. Went to Gouverneur. Stopped at Fair grounds where they are setting up fair. Mowed lower lawns.

Hot. We drawed one load of hay. Merrill mowed and raked. He started work on combine. Cow died during night. Wilford Lloyd came after her for mink meat. Vern, June and boys here awhile in evening. Had spent 2 days in mountains.

Hot today 92°. We drawed 2 load of hay. Merrill mowed and raked also. Sent Holly letter and $1. Had hard rain and thunder storm in evening with wind. Brotherton’s cattle here in morning and evening. They aren’t home.

I went to bank and store. Sent car insurance, $103. Hollis’s 10th birthday. Merrill raked over hay. Drawed part of load but not dry enough. Merrill worked at combine. Got letters from Uncle Berl and Juanita. Debby and Doreen are at camp. Subscribed for TV, Radio Mirror, $3.

Power off during night after 2 AM. Sent $1.50 to Town and Country News. Wrote Juanita. Merrill mowed hay. We drawed 2 load. Peggy L and kids here. Linda has been asked to take glads to State Fair. Ken L in hospital with sore foot.

World War II ended 25 years ago. We drawed 3 load of hay. Just 3 acres yet to cut. Merrill fixed fence around meadow. I washed car. He [?} called to say Beulah Hall is in Bay hospital for skin graft on leg.

Hot and humid. Merrill and I went to Aldersgate to get Doreen, Debbie, and Sherrie Fowler. Took them home. Had dinner with Mom. Brenda has a Rambler car 1966. Got groceries and eye drops, 3rd. Merrill mowed last 3 acres of hay when we got home.

Carroll Ward died last night about 6 PM. Mary H called. Funeral from Dawn Keichel’s and church. Carl K called and asked Merrill to be bearer at funeral Saturday. Merrill started combining oats across from house. 20 bags. I washed. Made cookies.

Sent Karen card, $1 and letter. I went to Seaway for groceries. Merrill combined oats. 46 bags so far. Rebekah’s and Odd Fellows went to Carroll’s wake at Keichel. Cooler tonight. Evans Mill black topped Elm Ridge Road.

Carroll Ward’s funeral. Merrill was bearer. Also, Sim A, Carl K, Jim M. Ross M. and Lawrence R. Mary and Gene Murphy went with us. Church was full. Rev. Blankenship gave wonderful service. We mowed all three lawns. Sent Lois sympathy card. Merrill didn’t combine any oats today.

Merrill went to Frys for new combine canvas $62. Washed my hair in evening. I wrote Vern’s. Sent them card, and $10. Called Aunt Maude. Dr. put her on thyroid pills. I made blue cord double knit dress.

Vern and June’s 10 anniversary. New York Christian Woman’s Club luncheon at Hotel Woodruff at 12:30. I went with Ruth Eggleston, Lois, Gladys Simonds, and Marva Blankenship. Very nice. Merrill finished combining 142 bags.

We went to city in AM and Mills. Got print for blouse. Couldn’t get eye drops. All out until 5 PM. Got new Blue Cross/Blue shield policy. It is still in my name. Got letter from Dot Medina. Started blouse in evening.

WSCS at Esther’s. Mrs. Blankenship attended for first time. I went to Ruth’s to study club. Mrs. B gave wonderful testimonial. We finished baling straw. Gave some to Jim Schell’s as barn was full. I called Ken’s in evening.

Jim’s 27th birthday. Robin and Tammy Hall’s birthdays also. Washed clothes. Merrill stored combine. Merrill got milk machine pail from Howard to try. We went to Philadelphia in evening for groceries for tomorrow. I’m not too peppy today. Pain in head, left side.

We went to State Fair with Ken’s. Percy Pratt milked for us. Rained off and on but wasn’t too bad at all. Saw Lawrence and Lyle’s at Fair. Also, Buster and Marie. We got home at 1:15 AM. Bought a wig at fair. $19.

We went to wakes for Marsha Lapine and Bob Miller. Went over to see Clara Wallace. She is very cozy in new trailer home. It is very nice. Debby and Joe were here in evening. Debby sang song for me for 4-H talent show.
