We went out to Mom’s for dinner. Ken’s there also. Warm and thawing. Don asked about buying farm and getting Mom’s affairs settled. Not much luck talking to her. We were late getting home. Didn’t go to church.

Rainy Day. Snow melting. Worked on black dress. Hem yet to do. Cows are better today. Sharon and Debby here in evening making out 4-H Simplified Reports. Mary here also. Ground hog didn’t see shadow.

No school at Theresa due to low water pressure. Sent Sharon’s, Debby and Mary’s Simplified Reports to 4-H. Wrote Don’s. Rev. H called. Patty called. They are coming out but weather and roads too bad. Marguerite and Vi called.

Was 24° below zero this morning at 7:15. Cold all day. Wrote Vern’s. Fourth day without water at Theresa. Broken pipe somewhere. Same problem at Lacona and Sandy Creek. Sears didn’t bring my stove. Train wreck near Antwerp. 25 cars off tracks.

Telephone company fixed phone. Hall’s out too. I called Sears. Stove didn’t come in. I made 2 kinds of cookies. Merrill got hair cut. Trains moving again after wreck near Antwerp. Vern and June called in evening. Vern is still having ear and throat trouble.

4-H here. Starting food lesson “Let’s Have a Party”. All here but Robin and Nora. We went to Theresa for groceries. They still haven’t found water trouble break. 6 days. Much warmer.

Mary L was here sewing on her skirt. Warm today 40°. They think they have found water main leak at Theresa near Bickelhaupt Garage. First day of fishing derby at Sackets.

Church meeting at Mills. Covered dish dinner at 1 PM. Rev H was at church today. We went to church but not to meeting. Drove out to Mom’s in PM. Got scraper toy for Danny’s birthday at drug store. Beautiful day. Garmon R and Randy Moyer 6, hurt.

Called Dr. Scanlon for eye appointment., April 13. Guild meeting. Viet Nam exchange student program. I didn’t go. Raining in evening. Jim, Pat and Vicky here for supper. Ken’s were at Jim’s yesterday. Cleaned house. Eleanor took Juanita and David to Syracuse for Dave’s check up.

WSCS at Carrie Thompson’s. I didn’t go. Stormy night and I have headache. I took Rev H for check up. Took him eight places in all. Mrs. H. has bursitis in her shoulder so she couldn’t go with us. Marion Schell stopped in with Jamie’s apron.

Friday the 13th. Took garments to city. Aunt Maude went with me. She got truck license in her name. Income tax and Merrill’s SS will be $237.90. Sent Farm Survey. Edna Hockey called to say Aunt Cora in hospital at Ogdensburg with pneumonia. Called Kessel. He broke leg 3 weeks ago. Debby here in evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pastor’s second wedding anniversary. Real warm, 45°. Merrill worked on taking small tractor apart. Finally got Feb. Good Housekeeping Magazine. Gerry called from 4-H office about Horse contest.

Porch full of snow. Andy got door open during night. AFS show at IRC School. I didn’t go this year. Called Vern’s. He has tonsil infection and wisdom tooth trouble. Down to zero in evening. Did ironing, made cherry pudding, and muffins.

School out at 3:30 until March 2. Sent Danny card, letter and $1. Merrill and I went up to Philadelphia. He took tractor head to Hills. I Got 2 records, Chet Atkins, and Slim Montano. 5 men beat 3 boys at Lowville School. Mrs. Keichel called in evening to tell me about it. One boy in serious condition.

Danny’s 3rd birthday. No mail. We went to city to get Karen, Cindy, and Debby. Juanita came too. Got Danny’s birthday gift, tractor with scraper and road scraper. Got girls a doll. Jim and Gary here for speakers. Patty sick. Saw first crow in city.

We gave girls their “Baby Margie” doll. They sure love her. I made her some clothes. Merrill went to Philadelphia for light switch for small bathroom. Sent for World Day of Prayer stuff for second time. Cloudy day. Got card from Dot M. She’s not too good.

Rebekah’s. 19 out. Vi and Lois H absent. Girls stayed with Merrill in evening. Sears delivered my new kitchen range. Works swell. $316.94. Cooked supper on it. Marguerite called. Bill here with fuel oil. Merrill went up to bank.

-22 below at 8 AM. Beautiful but cold. Patty called. She has pneumonia. Jim sick in bed also. They are at home. Dr. Ronson wanted Pat to go to hospital. I went up to bank and for groceries. Washed girls hair. They took baths. Mia Farrow had twin boys with Andre Previn. They aren’t married.

4-H Demonstration Day at Lafargeville School 9:30 AM. None of our club took part this year. I don’t feel too peppy yet. We went after groceries in PM. Tired when I got home. Debby over awhile. Saw first crow in door yard.

Warmer today. We took girls home. Stopped at Jim and Pat’s. Took them soup. They are feeling better. Pat still quite sick. Don was having lawyer stop by but he didn’t come while we were there. Church women brought Juanita and Don crib full of baby gifts.
