Very cold wind today. We got home at 1:15 AM from Mowers. Nice time. Jeff Hall came over. I gave him their gifts. Howard has flu. Merrill and I went to Philadelphia to see Gone With The Wind in PM. Excellent movie. Below zero in evening.

Cold. I sent 4-H report for Cathy. Took down Christmas tree and decorations. Merrill helped clean. Washed my hair in evening. Cut it in AM.

I went to city for groceries and gift for Mary Dick and Richard Dorr, casserole. Dry cleaned two of my coats. Got black pumps $3.97 at Kinneys Shoes. Snowy at city. Merrill plowed out snow in yard and driveway. Got free cook book from Farm Journal Book Club.

Mary Dick and Richard Dorr’s wedding. We went to wedding but it started snowing so hard we did not stay for reception. Could hardly see coming home. Stormed all evening.

Cold. Merrill, Mary H. and I went to funeral home at Redwood for Leah’s father. 19 Rebekah’s there. Called Aunt Maude in evening. Mary and I went to Lodge in evening. Frances Ansted made her official visit with passwords. I gave Vera Rosbrook $1 toward flowers for Leah’s father.

Raymond Specialties started putting porch windows on. Got first three on. Snowy day. Merrill’s tractor cat died during night,. He was a brother of our first black cat “Blackie”. He liked to ride on the tractor and always slept on the seat of it. Got letter from Charlene Tryon.

We didn’t go to church. We went out to Weston’s and Fay’s shopping but grocery department wasn’t open. Had chicken supper. Nice day but started snowing in evening. 20° today.

Gladys Lamon’s birthday, 59. Got letter from Juanita. They finished porch $545. John Lavisty did work. Merrill went up to bank. I went to city for groceries. Got a blue parakeet at Grants, $3.29. Jim and Mike Donny here for supper. Mike is on vacation. I didn’t go to 4-H Demonstration lesson at city in evening.

Merrill worked at income tax. Talked with Mary H. Lorraine is feeling better. Sent sympathy card to Lillian Neuroath. Her husband died. Wrote Readers Digest book club. Uncle Ray had stroke.

Marilyn’s stork shower 8 PM at Judy’s. Nice time. About 18 there. Send Doreen birthday card, money and letter. Also wrote Juanita. Got letter from Juanita. They have canceled Dave’s appointment in Syracuse. A family of 4 burned to death near Edna and John Hockey’s at Morristown. Called Jim in evening.

Frank and Judy Payne brought Michael, age 1 month home from hospital. He weighs 5 lb, 2 oz now. Got letter from Freddie Tryon from Viet Nam. Jim here in PM. Brought rest of his washing. Did most of it in evening. 40 degrees today.

Aunt Maude called to say Aunt Belle Peterson is dead. Funeral tomorrow at 2 PM in Brinston. Nice day. Merrill and I went to city for groceries and other errands. I ordered rose bowl for Martha Brown in Mercy hospital.

Jim has been on police force 1 year. Jim and Pat have been engaged 1 month. Aunt Belle’s funeral 2 PM Brinston. Merrill and I went. Went to Beatrice and Broyiarads [?] afterwards. Warm. We postponed 4-H until Feb. 1 at 1 PM. Merrill slept all afternoon. I made cookies. Windy in evening with rain and hail.

Colder. Merrill got hair cut. I made pumpkin and peach pies. Made applesauce cake. Terrible rains in California causing mud slides. Many people lost. Ivan Ors animals in danger. Have to be moved.

Sent land taxes $207.56. 6 below zero. Merrill went to city. Stopped for groceries I won on P & C contest. Evelyn and Carl Scee came about 3 PM. Stayed until 1 AM. 40 below zero in evening. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Joe isn’t good.

Called Mom in evening to tell her about Uncle Ray. Aunt Keitha and Velma have new large trailer at Dexter. Toby brought cheese from Malone.

We went to church. We went over to Uncle Rays afterwards and Merrill shaved him. Uncle Lloyd and Mary were there., They came down here for dinner. Went back to see Uncle Ray on way home. Eleanor, kids, and Jim B here for supper. She called Bowman’s. I went up to Aunt Maude’s at 11:15. Stayed all night.

4-H cattle meeting at city, 8 PM. Roads slippery in evening. Sent Karen birthday card. Uncle Ray went to Mercy hospital by Philadelphia ambulance at 1:30 PM. It got home at 2:15. Windy and snowy.

WSCS. Leah’s exchange student Dora Fontalon from Brazil spoke. 25 present. I took Aunt Maude out to hospital in morning. She will come home with Cheryl. Got letter from Beulah Hall. Got 4-H craft stuff. Jim and Pat here for supper. Didn’t get to see minister. We decided some wedding plans in evening.

Karen Morrow’s birthday. I took Aunt Maude to city at 9 AM Uncle Ray seemed better today. I called Marg and Aunt Keitha. Betty H called in evening. Also several others. I did Jim’s wash in evening. Aunt Maude and Cheryl called the fire department when furnace pipes burned out in evening. 10 PM.

Marilyn and Bob Payne have baby boy born at 4 AM. 7 lb, 4 oz. Brian. I didn’t take Aunt Maude today. Cathy did. Rev Hutchinson here for supper. Also Jim and Pat. They had wedding counsel. Mrs. H in Fulton with mother who is in hospital. Alma Reynolds in bad accident. Mrs. Hoover killed.

Dave goes to Syracuse. Eleanor took him and Juanita. Aunt Maude and I rushed to hospital at 7:15 AM after call from hospital. Uncle Ray died at 1:20 PM. We got home about 2:30. Went to Theresa at 4:30. I stayed all night at Aunt Maude’s.

Uncle Ray’s funeral. Large funeral. Nice day but cold weather wise. Gilson, Loren, Vera and Mrs. Coons came from Canada. Mom, Vern’s came home to spend night. Evelyn kept kids during funeral. Sent in some tax. $100. Social Security $147.70. Got letter from Dot. She has a trailer now.
