Lazy day. No company. Aunt Maude called. Didn’t go to church. Mom didn’t feel up to going.

Washed c lothes. Cut and washed Mom’s hair. Merrill took clipper blades to Vic Delles. Cloudy.

WSCS Christmas meeting with Mrs. Hutchinson at 6:30. Covered dish. I went just for meeting. Mom’s cold was so bad she couldn’t go with me. 21 there. I got new red dress from Spiegel.

Rainy and snowy all day. Made donuts and cakes. Washed and finished ironing. Jim was here for supper. He is moving some of his things tomorrow. Got letter from June and Uncle Berl.

Sent package to Uncle Berl. 72¢ Flashlight and tie. Lettie pen and praying hands. Mom and I went to city,. She had blood sugar test at hospital. She made bank deposit. I got Merrill winter rubbers. Grocery shopped. Very snowy with wet snow. Wrote Vern’s

Very stormy in city, and Adams area. Most schools closed. Windy. Gave Mom flashlight for Christmas.

4-H officers training school. Jim and Pat here for lunch. Merrill lost filling in tooth in front. Jim brought Mom and I to Vern’s. Very snowy in Oswego. Snowed all forenoon. I took coffee maker back to Century. They gave me another one.

Snowing all day. Vern and June started for Maryland at 8:45 AM. Snow cleared in evening but rather windy. Had a good day with the boys.

Vern’s appointment with Dr. Maley and committee at University of Maryland 9 AM. Clear and cold. Mom called Florence. Vern and June got home at 9:10 PM. Good trip. Vern has to change proposal. Washed.

Roy’s birthday. Vern’s took us over to Ken’s. Merrill came out there after us. We took Mom home. Got Mowers two radio’s Don fixed for them. Very cold. Good to be home.

Merrill and Bea’s 33rd Anniversary. Merrill went to city Christmas shopping. Got several more Christmas cards. Merrill got bib overalls at Theresa. Rebekah’s Christmas party. Nice time and good turnout.

Homemakers Club at Ruth Eggleston’s. Exchanged 50 cent gift. Played Yatzee. Covered dish. Jim and Pat here for lunch. Brought us a Lava Light for our anniversary. Got $5. check from Dot. Started Christmas cards in evening.

Friday the 13th. I went to city shopping. Rained about all day and very warm. I got us a Yatzee game. Merrill finished clipping cows. Sent some Christmas cards for first this year.

Grace Tryon called in morning. She has been in hospital. She lost a baby girl. Jim and Pat here all afternoon. Pat and I made dipped chocolate. Got package ready to send Dot and Joe (Shirt and pajama bag) Lester Webb died today. Heart attack. Got pictures back.

Cold wind. We went to church. Snowed in PM. I didn’t go back to church to help pack shut in-baskets as it was so snowy. Toby was here awhile in PM.

Joe Powers brought new desk. Merrill’s Christmas present. Merrill’s dentist appointment at 10 AM. We went up to Webb’s in PM. Got Christmas tree at Hills for $3.50. Sent package to Dot and Joe $1.15. PN Grands at Marguerites 6:60, 20 present. I was Leah’s Secret Pal. My new pal is Martha Brown.

4-H Banquet. Asbury Church 7:30. Donna and I went. Delicious turkey dinner. Put up Christmas tree and finished decorating house. Small pump stopped.

I went to city shopping all day. Got playskool desk for Dan $10.00. Bill and Vi here in evening. We made dipped chocolates. Vi never made them before. Wrote Vern’s. Judy and Frank Payne have baby boy, 3 lb, 14 oz Michael.

Dipped chocolate. Jim and Pat here for lunch. Washed. Vern’s called. They are coming Sunday and Monday. Mopped and waxed floors in evening. Addressed rest of cards.

4-H Christmas party. Debby Hall’s 8 PM. All present but Cathy Ayen. Nice time. I got lots of gifts. W e had cake and ice cream, cookies and candy. Got $5 check from milk plant. Cleaned utility room. Made Christmas cookies and Merrill changed water pipes to large pump. He got hair cut.

Sent Donna birthday card. Wrote Mom letter. Got stuff ready for our family Christmas. Wrapped rest of Christmas gifts. Merrill and I went to city to finish shopping. He got me a beautiful chair to go with my desk. Saw Dorothy LaClair

Vern and June and boys arrived at 11:30. Jim and Patty also just before. Pat and Jim are engaged. She got her ring this morning. Very beautiful.

Donna’s 25th birthday. We had our Christmas with Vern’s. Gave Merrill barn scraper. Me towels and refrigerator plastic set. Jim car waxing shirt [?] and Patty dessert flower set. We gave June 2 blouses and [?] dish. Vern clock and shirt. Steve, bike and Danny, playskool desk. Vern’s left about 4 PM and Jim and Patty left same time. Nice day together.

Jim and Pat here for supper and tree. Toby and Karen here same time. They gave us thermal blanket. Jim’s gave me blender. They gave Merrill 4 shirts, vest, and 3 pair socks. Howard got tractor mower for kids. Had it set up in our garage. Cold and slippery. We ate by candle light. Nice day. Astronauts got out of moon orbit. Pueblo crew with families.

10° below zero. Sunshine all day. Merrill and I went to Mom’s for Christmas. Jim came in PM. Patty had to go to work at 2 PM. A very nice dinner. Mom gave us money. Don’s cologne and after shave lotion. Snowy at Adams Center coming home.

20 below ° this morning at 8 AM. Below zero all day. Washed. Started ironing. Got free bank from Reader’s Digest. It was in today’s paper about Jim catching burglars. Got letter from June.

Sent film. Sent letter to Mrs. Andrew for WSCS. Sent letter to Book Club about cook book. Also Merrill’s accident payment. We went to city for groceries. Still very cold. Snowing in evening.

Sent card to Helen Keichel and wrote letter about changing Jim’s Reader’s Digest address. Got letter from Dot Medina. Sleet and rain all day. Plowed out driveways. Graham helped. I made donuts.

We didn’t go to church. Couldn’t get around in time. Snowed about all night. Driveways full again. Joshua Gurtering [?] died yesterday. Royal’s father. Beautiful day and evening but below zero in evening.

12 below at 7:30 AM. Wrote Dot and Uncle Berl. Sent them pictures to look at. Sent my subscription to World Outlook and Response. Sent sympathy card to Martin Hagan family. I put contact paper on our bedroom furniture. Jim and Jim D here for supper. Jim D is on crutches. Did Jim’s wash in evening.

We pledged $10 per week for year. Jim came after his washing. Wrote Vern’s. We spent the evening with Bill and Vi. They have new colored TV. Jeffrey there also. Nice evening.
