Civil Service wage increase starts today. Thunder storm during night. Windy and very hot all day. Merrill went to city for parts for milking machine pump but could not get them. Got pine tar for cows food. Made myself blue shorts in evening.

Cooler today. windy. Corn too wet to cultivate. No haying started yet. Washed bedding. Did ironing. Mostly Jim’s white shirts. 5 of them.

Nice day. Merrill washed car. Surge men didn’t bring milking machine pump today. I baked pies. Jim here for supper. He is working days this month. Wednesday’s and Thursday’s off.

Bang! Bang! Cloudy in morning but sun out later on. Got milking machine pump from Howard. Merrill and Howard installed it. Toby here awhile. Gave him $10 wedding president. Vern, June, and Steve called in evening. they are coming Saturday. We went for ride in evening. Theresa, Mills, Kelsey Bridge.

I went to city for groceries. Merrill finished cultivating corn. We mowed all the lawns. Washed. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Lettie not too good.

Toby Morrow and Karen Leckerts wedding. Vern, June and boys came in PM. We went to wedding. Very nice. Donna Hall stayed with kids. Jim had to work but came to reception at 9:30. Merrill mowed first hay this year.

We didn’t go to church. Cloudy, cool day. We went for ride to Wellsley Island State Park in PM. Jim came about 10:30 to spend night. Washed his shirts.

Vern, June and Steven left for Whiteface Mountain about 8:30 PM. Danny stayed with us. Merrill drawed first load of hay. Fan belt broke on tractor. We went to Alton’s. Jim left from here for work. Got his hair cut.

Kids left for Hall Road about 9:00 AM. I drove tractor on baler for first this year, about 200 bales in the barn. Very hot today. I dug out at end of walk etc. in evening. Dawn rode her bike over here twice alone.

Rained in morning. Merrill went to Depauville and Philadelphia and Theresa to get mower fixed. I washed and ironed. Made light green shorts.

Church Bar-B-Q. I helped on it. Very good crowd. I worked at window. Drawed 2 loads of hay. Rest too green. I stopped at Vi’s in evening and we went through Jack & Linda’s new home. Jim didn’t come home to help in haying today.

Very hot. We didn’t get around in time for church. We went to Weston’s Sackets, and Henderson Harbor for ride. Saw Jim on square working.

Don and Juanita’s 18th anniversary. 10 % sur tax starts today. Seaway strike us over. Lasted one month. Merrill mowed hay back on 17 acres. Drawed 2 loads from across road. Just a few bales yet to be baled. Jim home awhile in evening.

Donna, Sharon, Sue Demoor went to Beauty school in city and had our hair done. Cost me 90¢ for cut, shampoo, and set. Lorraine went with us also. Merrill drawed rest of hay. Part of load. He mowed more hay. Very hot, 89°. Washed Jim’s clothes. Did ironing. Merrill paid Paynes for spraying. Rained some in evening. Vern called.

Very hot. 93°. Showers in AM, we went to Gouverneur to have points and plugs put in car. $22.26. Got groceries at Big M. Jim here for supper. Got in 1 load of hay.

Called Vern in morning. They got here about 9:15. It started raining in AM. Only got part of load of hay. Rained hard in evening.

Kids had a big day helping hay it. Drawed 3 1/2 loads. We all helped. Art Hall went into hospital by ambulance from Antwerp. Heart. Evelyn over a minute in evening. Aunt Maude called to say Eva was dead.

Jim got Air Force discharge 1 year ago today. Kids left about 9:30 AM. Called mom to tell her Eva Strader is dead. Bowman’s were over to Ken’s last Sun. Uncle Ray and Aunt Maude here in evening.

Jim has been on police force 6 months. Jim got home a year ago. Got his discharge June 21, 1967 at McQuire AFB. Washed my hair in evening. Hot and windy. we drawed first hay back of rock ledge in evening. I mowed the lawns except by barn in evening.

Cooler today. Got letter from Angie asking us down for dinner Sunday. Got invitation to shower for Cecelia Ayens Thursday evening. We drawed last hay from 17 acres. 24 acres done. I mowed lawn by barn. Toby, Karen, and Mrs. William’s here in evening.

Wrote Don and sent him birthday card. Did Jim’s wash. We got ready to bale hay late in PM but baler wouldn’t start. Merrill went to Sears for new battery. Cecelia Ayne’s shower. I didn’t go to it. Sent gift by Donna. Gave Cathy and Hall girls 4-H blanks. Jim here in evening. He and 5 other police have been cycle riding today.

Don ‘s 45th birthday. Got letter from Beulah Hall. Les is able to drive the car some, and watch them play shuffle board. Donna, Cecelia Ayens and Mrs. Williams here in evening. Also Debbie was over after 4-H fair blanks.

4-H club take out exhibits to fair. All went but Donna. She was going to doctor to see about her leg. Very heavy clouds, windy and cold. This is the first year I have taken club kids to enter fair exhibits. Merrill mowed hay. Wind went down in evening. Very cold in evening 50°.
