Very hot day. I went to city in am for groceries. I planted garden. Paynes and Halls here in evening to get wagon box on new wagon. Sent for dresses to Spiegel.

Star dinner. Fed 135. I helped Sina, Pat & Vi in kitchen. Wesley and Norma took tractor and wagon to city. Hot.

Dairyland parade. Our 4-H had float in it. Went to city at 7 AM. Went to City Park and stopped at Young’s Museum. I took all the kids with me. Leslie and Mother Tryon here while I was at city. Also Toby.

We went to church. Gave $10.00 toward insurance. We ate lunch out doors. Went to Marathon races at Alex Bay. Beautiful day. Esther said at church that our dresses are starting to come into the Globe store.

Sent in three films. Merrill started planting corn. I rode planter. 4 acres. Toby here in evening. His horse follows him to the barn. Donna here to sew. Got 10 foot cow water tank at Agway. $55.00

We finished planting corn. 9 1/2 acres. Roger hall here. Got off the school bus at 11 am. Mary went to Pulaski to see her mother. Bought new wagon from Tenny’s, $285. Wrote Jim and Dot.

Rained hard all day. Roger Hall here again today from school. Rebekahs went to funeral home for Ivan Cross’ mother. Wrote Vern. Merrill got float for water tank. Got letter from Uncle Berl. Cousin Will Clarke is dead.

Mary Hall got home from her mother’s tonight. Bertha is not good. They plan to move back to Philadelphia from Pulaski. Went to P&C for groceries. Called Mrs. Brown to judge 4-H.

Hot and muggy. Vern, June, and boys, Penny, and 5 kittens here all day. We kept the kittens. June, boys and I went to Evelyn’s. Men changed wagon boxes. We mowed lawns.

Martha Meeks 23 birthday. Heard today she is in State Mental Hospital for shock treatments. Martha Brown is in Mercy Hospital. Got slides back. Ordered flowers for her. Painted back window. In paper today that Philip LeClaire’s have boy, Rusty.

Hot. We went to church. Ate lunch out doors and spent pm in front yard. Debbie here to sew in evening.

Wrote Jim. Merrill land I went to city. Got my green staff dress at the Globe, $23.00. Had my watch band fixed, $3.12. Stopped at Vi’s to see Jeffry. Donna and Debby here to sew. Merrill went to lodge.

4-H dress judging here by Dawn Keichel and Leona Brown at 7:30. Kids all here. 4 got blue, 2 boys, Donald and Dawn. Cathy, Sharon, and Debbie got red. Toby called. He has been sick with flu.

Exchange of collars and also neighbors night. Bea Tryon DDP now. Very hot in hall. 60 present. Bethany Nuroth PDDP gave me scrap book. Gave myself Toni gentle perm. Got card from Flossie White, a congratulation card.

Beef supper at church. 6:30 pm. Small crowd but Fikes donated meat and Matt donated ice cream, so we made $150.00 for church fund. I worked in kitchen. NY man told Merrill not to draw milk until resolved.

Thunder storm in early morn. Merrill finished painting milk house. Cook here to rescore barn. Can draw milk in morn. Dumped days milk. Mowed lawns.

Mom’s 75th birthday. Sent milk back to plant this morning. Larry Nevilles white washed barn. $17.00 His first job with new outfit. Toby here for lunch. I went to city for groceries. Rainy in pm. Got letter from Blanch O’Brien, DDP #2.

Father’s day. Gave him work pants. Went to church. Had coffee hour for graduates. 8 present. Martha called Vi from Buffalo State Hospital. Cool.

Made white dress. I went to initiation at Antwerp Lodge. They took in Nancy Brown. Vi, Beulah, and Lula went with us. Clara Wallace said they had taken Bruce Hanson to Marcy State Hospital. Merrill cultivated corn for first this year.

Sharon here to make dress. Here for supper. Merrill cultivated corn. Washed and ironed. Cooler.

Made over dress. Worked in garden in evening. Merrill finished cultivating corn. Toby here in evening to ride “Wendy”. Toby has been offered school clerk job at Houndsfield school.

Rained all day. Merrill started to put up post lamp that Jim made in high school. 4-H kids here in evening to see parade slides etc.

Merrill mowed lawns. I went to city for groceries. I went to Dr. Somivers (?) to have tooth filled at 3:00 pm. $7.00. Toby here in evening. Called Vern’s in evening.

Merrill, Toby, and I went to Vern’s for picnic dinner. Real nice day. Got graduation invitation from Freddie Tryon. I painted post lamp. Worked in garden. Sent Merrill’s accident insurance and my life insurance.

Rainy, cloudy and cooler in late pm. We went out to Moms for dinner. Lorraine Hall’s birthday. Church picnic was changed from City Park to Child’s Falls.

Cooler. Merrill went to city for battery for tractor. $10.00. He got post lamp wired up. Washed clothes. Made 2 pounds of butter.

Wrote Martha Meeks. I went to Alex Bay hospital with Vi to see Myrtle Duff. Toby here in evening. Merrill mowed first hay rows. Hall girls and Cathy Aynes here in evening for hair thinning shears.

Lodge. Last meeting be for summer. We drawed first hay, two loads. Wrote Jim. Sent card to Bertha Gleason.

We finished drawing the mowed hay. 257 bales in barn. Cloudy. 4-H dress review at IRCS. I was commentator as Norma didn’t go.

We went to Dick E for baler plugs. We went to Lorraine for Karen and Cindy. Karen’s first visit here. 2 years 10 months old. Stopped for groceries on way home.

Hot. Mowed front lawn. Howard used our baler and Merrill used his tractor and mower as his tractor wouldn’t work. Girls had bath in evening. All night dance at Pats. 9-3 am. 

Cloudy but hot. We took Cindy and Karen to City Park for picnic. They went in wading pool.

We took girls home. Rained hard and thunder storms in morning. Couldn’t hay it. Cindy and Karen didn’t want to go home. Vern’s called in evening. Baked cookies and pies.

Vern, June and boys here for day. Howard, Evelyn and kids here for picnic dinner. We all drawed hay. 3 loads. Beautiful day but on cool side in shade.

Cloudy and cool. Drawed 2 load of hay. Got big Sears catalog. Washed. Got June’s letter.

Merrill’s appointment with Dr. Sommers 11:30. He had x-ray and front tooth filled, $8.00. Drawed hay in pm. 889 bales in barn. Got card from June and Vern. Washed my hair. Donna Hall here.

Bob and Anne Eggleston have baby boy. Dale Robert, 7 pounds born at 5 am.

Toby here all day, Helped hay it. Cleaned field across road. 1099 bales. Merrill and Toby put up lawn umbrella. We had picnic on lawn table in evening.

Rainy. Cloudy day. We went to church. Merrill washed car. Lazy day.

Wrote Vern’s. Foggy in morning. Merrill mowed hay back of ledge. I cleaned Jim’s room. Toby here in evening. Helped me mow lawns. I got letter from assembly president. She is coming September 20.

Hot and humid. Rained all pm and evening. I went to Mills with Evelyn. Merrill went to Depauville for rake part, chain link. Washed clothes. Kenny Rudes called.

Got letter from Jim. He leaves England Thursday, July 20 at 3 pm. I had call from Rev. Jacob’s asking me to go to Aldersgate. I received call from blanch O’Brien. Meet at City Friday. Merrill raked hay. Also cemented porch crack.

Church Barbecue. I didn’t help on it as we had a lot of hay to draw. Got card from Ruth Eggleston. I went to P&C for groceries in evening. Carl Gleason, 17, drowned at church camp. Wesley and Melba’s second son.

Cloudy. Rained some in night. Wrote Vern’s and Dons. Drawed 1 load of hay. Vi and I went to planning meeting at city for presidents. We all went to Howard’s for coffee afterward. Nice evening. Got porch paint.

Don and Juanita’s 17th anniversary. We drawed hay. Toby here in pm and for supper. Helped get a load of hay. He had tooth out. Cloudy.

Cloudy. We went to church. Lazy day. Studied on lodge stuff. Merrill got cow home that got out of pasture a few days ago.

Drawed 1 load of hay. Merrill mowed more hay for Ivan Hale. I baked pies, cookies and meat loaf. Wrote Martha Meeks. Did my hair.

Jim’s last War Bond came today. Hot. Scrubbed porch floor ready to paint. Drawed 1 load of hay. Toby here in evening.

Got letter from June. Juanita called (twice) to say Mom fell by the hen house this morning. May have had a stroke. I painted porch floors. Drawed hay. Mowed lawns. Mom did have slight stroke.
