Jim’s 24th birthday. He worked part of day. Made Jim cake. Toby here all day. Tractor generator broke. Merrill and Toby washed cars. Jim home for night.

Jim, Merrill, and I went to Wolcott for dinner. All there but Beulah. Took Jim’s birthday cake for dinner. Cool during night but warm in pm. Jim home tonight. He brought Helen M (?) from Stone Mill up in evening.

Labor Day. Jim working 12-10. Worked at Mrs. B’s in evening. We had barbecue picnic out doors. Beautiful day. Toby here all day. Washed clothes. The gypsies funeral at city. 1000 gypsies attended. Finished oats. About 100 bags.

WSCS at Marguerites. 18 present. Foggy in evening. Toby here in evening. Got letter from Dot. Merrill combined rest of Hales oats, 2 acres. Jim came home in pm to check luggage. Jim’s luggage finally got to Philadelphia.

School starts. Sent in films. Jim called. He will be home Friday night. He got card and letter from Uncle Bert. Merrill had new muffler put on car at Gouverneur. Merrill combined oats for Howard. Defrosted freezer and refrigerator.

Wrote Uncle Bert. Merrill finished Howard’s oats. I mowed center lawn. Donna and Sharon here in evening. We planned Marilyn’s shower.

Perm appointment at Harriet’s, 10 am. I got perm, $10.00. I went to city after groceries. Howard baled our straw as our baler wouldn’t start. Norma brought 4-H stuff as I am leader now. Jim to stay at home tonight. Helen Mesaacola here in evening.

Washed. Ironed shirts until 2 am. Jim home tonight. Toby here all day. He and Merrill went to city for horse feed. Made cookies.

Merrill and I went to church. Jim slept until 12:30. His first good rest since getting out of the service. Toby here all day. We all went up to see Jean DeHavens 20 mule team by snack bar. Jim got luggage put away.

Jim went into work at noon. Works for Mrs. Bruin tonight. Merrill and Jim put up silo pipe. Merrill started filling silo for first. Cleaned. Washed. Sent money to Times. Sent Jim’s car insurance for him.

Wrote Vern’s. Sent for Merrill’s birth certificate. Merrill chopped corn, 5 loads. Jim came home for supper. Toby spent evening here.

I went to city to take Jim to and from work from garage. I went out to Moms after shopping. I went to Lodge in evening. I have had headache all day. Chopper broke. Howard helped. Perry Rockwood, 58 is dead.

Vi and I practiced at Lodge. Got Schells chopper as Merrill couldn’t fix ours. Howard helped fill silo. Donna here in evening. Also Lorraine, Roger and Sharon. Jim came home tonight after picking up Mrs. B’s nephew.

Beautiful summer day. Merrill and Howard filled silo all day. Jim went to work at noon. Mr. Slate was here. They live near Canton now. Jim stopped to see Curt Vantassel after work. Donna here in evening.

Sent Keichels card. Jim went into work at noon. Beautiful day. Toby here all day. Men chopped corn all day, Howard and Merrill. 11 loads. Norma here in pm. Sunday School kids here on paper drive. Got letter from June. Vern passed his French test.

Mr. and Mrs. Perron Keichels 50th anniversary. Last practice by all at IOOF in city before Assembly President visit. Vi and I drove and took staff except Willabelle. Jim, Kenny and Howard played golf. Donna and Mary here in evening. Beautiful day. Hot.

Past Grands at Carries. I went. Gave my staff corsages. Jim home for supper. Washed, ironed, and waxed kitchen floor. Merrill chopped corn alone today. Jim went into work at 9:30 am. Works for Mrs. B tonight.

Hair appointment at 1:30. I went to city afterwards. Got white sneakers at P&C. Got large dictionary with gold stamps. Got small evening bag. Jim got done work for Mrs. B. Jim hurt leg at work. Paint fell on him. Dr. Mesklin took X-rays.

Assembly President, Vivian Fetch makes official visit to Jefferson County. About 125 present. Everything went well. I went with Marguerite. Esther Taylor drove also. Got home about 11:30. Kermit Johnson died. Jim went to see about police work.

Vern’s 31st birthday. Rainy, windy day. Merrill went to city for machine parts. I called and canceled shower for Marilyn. Jim went to work. Had appointment with Dr. Roberts at 3 pm to help gain weight.

Vern and June called in evening. Shower canceled because of Kermit Johnson’s death. Sent lodge letters with installation dates. Jim went to Syracuse Veterans hospital for physical and dental checkup. Toby went with him. They spent the night in Syracuse. He saw 5 doctors.

Boys got home from Syracuse at 1:00 am. 4 doctors and 1 dentist examined him. I went to city. Got two white shirts for Vern’s birthday. Got 2 dresses. Toby here for supper.

We all went to church. The new Methodist Hymnals were dedicated. We gave two for our parents @ $3.50. We went out to Mom’s in pm. Vernon’s came up there in pm. Rainy. Hailed at Lorraine.

Jim hadn’t gained enough weight to take police exam. Had 4-H meeting here to make out project reports. Merrill started plowing for fall.

Jim went to work at 11:00. Merrill plowed all day. Washed. Windy. I have sore eye. Got thank you card from Assembly President, V. Fitch. Ivan and Charlotte Hale spent first night in their new mobile home.

Leah and Martha B birthdays. Sent school tax, $195.53 on 7500 assessment. Sent to Albany for Merrill’s birth certificate. I went to Lodge. Staff practiced after lodge.

Rainy all day. Norma and Amy had shower for Marilyn Hall. Donna here after school. Jim worked 9:30-6:00.

Wrote Vern’s and Dot. Rainy. Karleen called to say Natural Bridge couldn’t install first meeting. I went to city and Mills. I took 4-H projects into office. Carl and Evelyn Scee here in pm and supper.
