Hot. Mowed front lawn. Howard used our baler and Merrill used his tractor and mower as his tractor wouldn’t work. Girls had bath in evening. All night dance at Pats. 9-3 am.

Cloudy but hot. We took Cindy and Karen to City Park for picnic. They went in wading pool.

We took girls home. Rained hard and thunder storms in morning. Couldn’t hay it. Cindy and Karen didn’t want to go home. Vern’s called in evening. Baked cookies and pies.

Vern, June and boys here for day. Howard, Evelyn and kids here for picnic dinner. We all drawed hay. 3 loads. Beautiful day but on cool side in shade.

Merrill’s appointment with Dr. Sommers 11:30. He had x-ray and front tooth filled, $8.00. Drawed hay in pm. 889 bales in barn. Got card from June and Vern. Washed my hair. Donna Hall here.

Wrote Vern’s. Foggy in morning. Merrill mowed hay back of ledge. I cleaned Jim’s room. Toby here in evening. Helped me mow lawns. I got letter from assembly president. She is coming September 20.

Hot and humid. Rained all pm and evening. I went to Mills with Evelyn. Merrill went to Depauville for rake part, chain link. Washed clothes. Kenny Rudes called.

Got letter from Jim. He leaves England Thursday, July 20 at 3 pm. I had call from Rev. Jacob’s asking me to go to Aldersgate. I received call from blanch O’Brien. Meet at City Friday. Merrill raked hay. Also cemented porch crack.

Church Barbecue. I didn’t help on it as we had a lot of hay to draw. Got card from Ruth Eggleston. I went to P&C for groceries in evening. Carl Gleason, 17, drowned at church camp. Wesley and Melba’s second son.

Cloudy. Rained some in night. Wrote Vern’s and Dons. Drawed 1 load of hay. Vi and I went to planning meeting at city for presidents. We all went to Howard’s for coffee afterward. Nice evening. Got porch paint.

Got letter from June. Juanita called (twice) to say Mom fell by the hen house this morning. May have had a stroke. I painted porch floors. Drawed hay. Mowed lawns. Mom did have slight stroke.

Jim leaves London at 3 pm. Gets to McGuire about 6 pm. Jim called about 9:45 from Mcguire. Just got in. I called Vern’s. June is sick. Danny has a tooth,. Called Juanita. Mom is okay. Can have soft food.

Jim called in evening from Freehold, NJ. He got his discharge at 4:30 pm. He will be home tomorrow. I went out and spent the day with Mom. She seems pretty good. I stopped at funeral home for Sam Zufelt on way home. Merrill got 2 loads of hay.

Jim got here about 1:30 pm. Rented a Hertz car in Albany and drove home. Toby was here when he got here. Howard here in evening. Boys took car to city. Cost him $33.00. Kenny sick and couldn’t come down. Wrote Uncle Berl.

We went to church. Jim went to Kenny’s. We all went out to Moms and down to Kens. Cloudy and rainy. Stormed while we were at Ken’s. Uncle Rays were at Moms. Jim went up to Kenny and Brenda’s in evening.

City IOOF 8:00 pm. I went alone as Martha and John and Jeffrey hadn’t started for home. Merrill went to city. Jim went with Kenny to city. Jim got new watch at Henry’s, $25.00 Timex. Merrill ordered Patz barn cleaner. $1285.00

My appointment with Dr. Summers. 3:00 pm. Had my teeth cleaned and x-rays taken. $10.00. Drawed hay. Jim helped. Also mowed hay. Jim made cabinet in evening for Shells.

Mom got up today. Sick one week. Appointment with Dr. Scanlon at 8:45 am. Have to have all new glasses. Vincent (?) Scee, 27, took his own life Saturday in State of Wash. Merrill and I went out to funeral home . Carl & Evelyn flew home with body. Jim cut brush.

Merrill baled hay for Ivan H. Jim went to Mill and to city with Kenny. Jim and I drawed hay in evening. Rained in evening. I went to Philadelphia for twine. Stopped at Vi’s. Merrill started lawn table benches. Jim went to bank at Mills.

Rained during night. We went to city. Jim got new car at Trotters City. Sunbeam. I got new glasses, not frames, $27.00. Kenny Rudes didn’t pass State Police physical at Albany because of his eyes. Ironed in evening.
