Dad’s birthday. 68 years old. We didn’t go out home. We worked all day. Palm Sunday. Washed my hair. Cold.

Past Grands District meeting at Natural Bridge. I went with Elsie Bacon. Very nice dinner. Eleanor Genita new District Deputy.

They called me at noon. Dad died of coronary attack at 4:00 today. We were all with him. Took Jim out in evening. Stayed all night.

We picked lot at Calcium. Got coffin. Came home tonight.

Vernon got home at 7:00. Drove all night. Vernon’s car broke down. Merrill drove Vernon’s car to Adams. Jim came home for night.

We went out home. Merrill came out with Uncle Ray’s in evening for visiting hours. Stopped at Ceil Allen’s, Howard’s funeral tomorrow also.

Dad’s funeral. Big funeral. 25 cars. Spring day. Warm. Mae, Docsh [?] Olive, Elgin, Roy & Marg, Ken’s, Aunt Keitha, Dot & Velma came here after. Vern got 59 Chevrolet Impala car. Nancy Delles married.

Easter Sunday. We went out home. Ken’s there also. Stopped at cemetery on way out.

Colder. Vern left about 9:00 for Maryland. I went to city. Got wall paper & rug for bedroom. Paid $100.00 to Bert Johnson for cemetery lot. Lottie Hanson.

Nice day. Merrill & I papered guest bedroom. Jim drove truck on 4-H paper drive.

Grand day. Jim & Marty cleaned lawns both places. Washed. Worked on formal in evening. Cleaned. I went to Gouverneur to see about rug.

70° today. Thunder storm. Got letter from Vern. Merrill & I went to Gouverneur for rug. I went to lodge practice in evening.

Eleanor, Brenda, & Roberta, came about 1:00. I have head cold. Pauline & Garmon & kids came in evening.

Eleanor, girls, & I, went to Ogdensburg. Raining.

Eleanor & girls went home about 3:00 PM. Put hem in formal. Fast time started this morning. Power off for 4 hours. Rev. Paul Hagan had accident.

I went to work but asked for this week off also. Sent card of thanks to Times. Wrote Vern. Started cleaning upstairs. Bread man fell out of truck & broke his arm. Kind of cold & rainy.

Cooler. Nice day. Merrill took 2 calves to Gouverneur. Zelda McKeever had gall bladder operation. Started cleaning out bedroom. Got letter from Uncle Berle.

Initiation at lodge. 75 present. Sandra Cross, Donna Pledger, Leona Durgan, & one from Alex Bay. I went to city & out home. Got wall paper for our bedroom. Card of thanks was in Times.

Mother & daughter banquet. I took Debbie Hall. Huge crowd. Over 100 there. Nice program. Worked at our bedroom.

Swell day. Painted bedroom. Merrill put in wall plugs in bedroom. Jim played baseball at Gouverneur. Marty, Ronnie Coaks, & Jim, went to fireman’s dance at Theresa.

Garmon Roggie got hurt real bad on field chopper. Papered our bedroom. Washed my hair.

finished bedroom. Irene Foley was here few minutes.

Had my eyes examined. Dr. Kennedy $18.00. Don’t need glasses. Looked at monument for Dad at noon. I went back to work for first in 3 weeks.

Sure tired tonight. Settled our bedroom. Put on boarder. Got letter from Vernon.

Mr. Moody called. Talked with Vi. Also Aunt Maude & Ruth Eggelston. 84° today.

Very warm. Garmon is out of bed. Sent Mother’s day cards.

Mom & Eleanor stopped at shop. Garmon had another operation. I talked with Pauline on phone.

Windy. I went to P&C for groceries. Jim, Marty, & Hurtiau sisters, went to Pine Lodge Hop. Boys went to dance at Theresa.

Jim got me box of candy. We went to church. Merrill & Jim went to Mercy Hospital. Garmon is coming OK. Mom went home with Pauline. Jim mowed lawns for first this year. Look swell.

I went to Past Grands at Vi’s. Virginia D on committee. Nice time. Merrill planted oats for first today. All done. Rained in PM.

Cooler. Merrill put in water heater at Art Halls. Jim went to game at city. George Norton went to hospital in Philadelphia ambulance.

Dance at Pat’s tonight. Fran & I went to hospital to see how Garmon was. He was in operating room. Troopers stopped us on way home. Checked lights.

Raining. Auction at Calhouns on Route 26. Mary Ann Navura went to hospital with severe heart attack.

Friday the 13th. Rainy. Very foggy in morning. Got back $5.00 state tax.

Got $24.00 unemployment check. First & only one. I went to city for groceries. Took clothes out today. Jim & Marty went to dance.

I have sick headache. Jim & Marty & girls went for ride. Pat Eggleston was here.

Jim got lawn mower fixed & mowed lawns. Rainy.

I went to Dr. Roberts after work. Everything OK. Mildred Walts was here in evening with Avon. Got letter from Dot Talcott. Art hall has new truck.

Got letter from Mom. She has telephone 2-1617. Turned cows out for first day & night. Jim had game with Gouverneur.

Carrie Thompson called. Ironed in evening. Beautiful day. Warm. Truck quit with Jim & Bobby E. at Theresa.

Junior Prom. Jim & Marty took Joanne & Fran Hurtiau. Merrill helped Howard fit ground. Jim washed car & mowed lawns.

I went to city. Got truck tire at Sears. Merrill & Jim went to Gouverneur. Had work done on truck. I got 2 Venetian blinds for bedroom. Washed. Jim & Marty went to Theresa dance.

Cooler. We went out home with truck. Took out old rugs. Don & Merrill put them down for Juanita.

Raining. Got letter from Vernon.

Past Grands at Aunt Maude’s Good turnout. Raining.

I went to lodge. Past Grands entertained. Also IOOF. Raining. Jim Hanlon went to hospital with spinal meningitis. Got typewriter table from club.

Jim went to game at Carthage. Finally stopped raining. Merrill went to Gouverneur. Had another generator put on truck. Stopped at Plaza. Got shoes for Debbie H. Merrill worked at cemetery.

Merrill finished monument base. Vern & June came about 5:00. Jim went swimming for first at Crystal. Got June nylon negligee.

They put up monument. Men spray painted porch furniture. Rose & Alice C. were here in evening. Gave myself a Tip Toni

Vern took June to Oswego. Jim went swimming. Merrill & I took wreaths to Calcium & Rodman. Went up home. Ken’s there also. Monument is up.
