Vern’s last day at Farrell’s. Jim’s birthday. Marty was here for supper. Rained in evening. Terrible hot all day.

Vernon left for Maryland at 10:15. Jim & I went to Crystal. Jim went with Rudes in evening. Carlton baled straw. Ironed most of day.

Past Grands at Marguerite’s. I went. Sure hot. I had a fight with Jennie. Got $10.00 raise.

Jim starts school this term. Gerald Parker drives his bus. Sure hot. Worst day of summer. Took boys swimming.

Got new winter coat. Sure hot. Turned cool in evening. Got my hair done after work. Got letter from Vern. First one from Maryland.

Much cooler today. Seems good. Signed for Times for Vernon. $4.50 for 3 months.

Jim & I went to city. Iva Norton was here for club. Have paid her $6.00.

Cool but nice. Baked cookies & cake. Merrill mowed lawn. Jack Hughes & Freddie were here.

I went to W.S.C.S. guild meeting at Margaret Kiechle’s. Got new dress. Cool. Had furnace fire. Harry Waters, another deputy, & woman killed at city.

Marty’s 15th birthday. Got long letter from Vern. Mr. & Mrs. Bennett were here. Merrill took 4 calves to sale. We voted at Antwerp. Jim had first driver education lesson. Merrill paid school taxes. $186.75.

Grand day. Mr. Gonyea helped Merrill fill silo. Got third letter from Vernon. Harry Waters funeral.

Got table cloth for kitchen table. Mr. Gonyea was here all day helping with corn. Sent card & letter to Vern.

Cool. Paid $3.00 more on coat. Jim wrote Vernon.

Took car to Gouverneur. Didn’t have part. Got oil changed & brakes fixed. Rebekah’s had turkey supper.

Beautiful day. Washed my hair. Jim went over to Marty’s. Waxed kitchen floor.

Vern’s 23rd birthday. Warmer.

Got dress from Spiegel. Warm. Men were here filling silo. Got letter from Vern.

Rebekah’s election of officers. I went. 30 members present. Evelyn D is Noble Grand. Edna Cross is Vice Grand. Jim went to city & got driver permit.

Very warm. Got my new coat today.

Rosie, Alice, Virginia, Mary, Fran, & I, went to Dante’s for pizza at noon. Rosie’s last day of work.

Swell day. Waxed bathroom floor. I went to Theresa for groceries. Jim & I went to 4-H at Kiechle’s.

We went out home for dinner. Jim drove for first time both ways.

Very warm. Washed clothes in evening.

Hot & muggy. Rained in PM. Merrill started plowing. Washed my hair.
