Rebekah’s first fall meeting. I didn’t go. Vern pre registered for draft. Claude was here & baled straw.

Vern starts in college at Oswego State. Mom, Dad, Merrill, Jim, & I took him to school. Juanita & kids came home with us.

Cloudy day. Merrill finished combining for this year. He helped Claude bale straw in PM. Carl Tryon came in PM.

Got letter from Vernon. Juanita, kids, & I went to Gouverneur. Uncle Ray, Aunt Maude, & Grandpa were here in evening. Carl went home in evening. He helped draw straw.

Took Juanita & kids home. Grandpa Haggerty went with us. Got bushel tomatoes at Hills. $2.00. Nice day. Uncle Lloyd is sick.

Raining all day. Cleaned cellar & furnace. Set up kitchen heater. Got letter from Vernon. Merrill went to lodge.

Froze corn, & canned tomatoes. I went to P.N. Grands at Hall in evening. Good time.

I went to city. Put my name in at Faichney’s. [for work] Jim & I went to Grange election of officers. Washed clothes. Aunt Maude was here.

Church turkey supper. Made $112.00. I was sick all day. Raining. Got letter from Vernon.

Got letter from Vern. Vi was down in evening & I gave her Toni.

Vern came home today. I went to city for him & Carl Schlappi. Men filled silo here. Canned 4 quarts pears.

We all went to church. Rained hard in AM. Had dedication for guest book stands at church. Vernon made it & gave it to Philadelphia church. Took boys to city at 9:00

Washed clothes. Canned pears. Men filled silo here. Sent Vern card. Wrote Mom.

Vernon’s 18th birthday. wrote Uncle Berle. Vern’s first time away from home on his birthday.

Merrill & I went to city. Bought a 21 inch Emerson TV at Carl’s. I went to lodge. Election of officers.

Had corn cutters for dinner. Jim didn’t have to go to school. Teacher’s conferences. I went to Home Bureau at Helen’s. Covered dish.

Merrill & I went to city for more TV antenna. Flood kids were over. Grandpa Haggerty came down for visit.

Merrill helped fill silo at Norton’s. Baked pies & cakes. I worked at lodge cafeteria supper. Got letter from Vernon.

Rainy day in PM. Howard & Lynn helped Merrill put up TV antenna.

Cloudy day. Cleaned. Merrill filled silo at Norton’s. Took Grandpa H. up to Uncle Rays. Stopped at school for books.

I went to city. Got job at Olga. Washed. Made pickles & canned tomatoes. Did ironing.

Very hot. I started work at Olga Knitting Mill. Signed up for social security card. I saw Aunt Myrtle in shop.

Wrote Vernon. Sent $3.00 for 4 months of Times. Raining again. Wrote Mom. Birthday card to Brenda.

Got groceries & new cotton dress at Sears. I went to Grange. 80th anniversary in evening.

Bennett’s were here. Baked cakes & cookies. We went to anniversary party for Leah & Claude at their house in evening. Nice time.

Raining hard in AM. Didn’t go to church.

Got stuff ready for dinner for Norton’s tomorrow. Grand day.

Got letter from Vernon & Mom. Got social security card. Have horrid cold.

Didn’t go to Grange. Very cold & windy.

Very cold. I have horrid cold. Waited in city for Vernon & Carl. [Schlappi] Have long weekend vacation.

Warmer today. Got my first pay at Olga Mill. Got groceries. Nellie Thibault rode home with me. Hard frost last night.

Washed & ironed. Raining. Did Vern’s wash & ironing also. Have horrid cold yet.

Cloudy, rainy day. We all went out home for dinner. Left Vern at city on way home at 5:30.

Rained again today. Wayne Hardy was here for Merrill’s farm bureau dues. Got white blouse at shop. $1.25.

Jim didn’t have to go to school. I’m quite tired tonight. Made 36 dozen facings today. Got card from Vernon.

Very warm. Floods auction. Didn’t sell farm. Installation at Rebekah’s. Virginia Delles, Noble Grand. About 80 there.

Very warm & muggy today. Merrill cut corn.

Past Noble Grands at Addie’s but I didn’t go. Hurricane Hazel hit here during night. Awful windy.

Washed windows, cleaned floors. Broke our lead in wire on TV. Power off until 12:00 noon. Bennett’s were here. Also Mrs. Alton. Merrill & Jim took car to have brakes fixed.

We went to church. Mr. & Mrs. Schneuber spoke. Rained during day. Wrote Vernon & got draft questionnaire ready to send him.

Merrill went to lodge. Are planning dining room. They took Myrtle Duff to hospital last night.

Hard frost last night. Have head ache tonight. Got letter from Vernon.

Sent order to Wards. Jim & I went to Grange but not enough kids for meeting.

Uncle Len’s were here a few minutes in PM. Merrill helped Lynn Hall put up TV antenna. Jack & Ethel Tousley have baby girl.

WCNY-TV went on air at 8:00 PM. Very good. Mrs. Flood & girls were here. Merrill & Jim went uptown to see about lodge dining room.

Watched channel 7 on TV. Very good. Lynn helped fix our TV antenna. Home Bureau at Fikes but I didn’t go.

Jim has been sick in bed all day with upset stomach ache.

Grand day. Generator on car stopped on way home. Merrill took car to Cross’. Jim didn’t go to school. Got package from Wards.

I rode to city with Hank Shell. We went to party in evening at Floods. Had very nice time. About 50-60 there.

Merrill took car to Gouverneur to get generator fixed. $22.00. Lucy Hunter had accident on Evans Mills overhead. I went to city with Hank Shell. Didn’t go to Rebekah’s.
