Adult education. Merrill & I went. Very cold. Had Christmas program at school. I didn’t go.

Boys had Christmas parties at school. Got out for vacation until January 4th. Very stormy at city. No snow here.

Cold & snowy. Jim went over to Floods. Congregational Church at Philadelphia damaged by fire.

Boys went to Sunday School. We all went to church.

Washed & ironed. Merrill went to lodge. Boys to church practice. We all went to Gouverneur shopping in PM.

Boys got Christmas package from Uncle Berle. Merrill & Vernon started changing water pipes in kitchen. We all went to church Christmas tree in evening. Church full. Raining. No snow. Made fruit cake & cookies.

Vern took pictures of neighborhood. Beautiful cool, clear day. No snow on ground at all. Mom called. Uncle Earle had operation for gall stones.

Christmas eve. Jim’s first year without Santa Claus. (10 years old) Had our tree in evening. All got nice gifts. Snowing. Merrill & Vernon got electric water heater hooked up.

Grandpa Haggerty is at Dad’s. Christmas day. We went out home for dinner. Stopped to see Uncle Earle at hospital. Not too good. Juanita & girls are at her mother’s for Christmas. We went to fire at Theresa.

Lazy day. Snowing today. Cleaned. Merrill, Jim, & Vernon went up to Philadelphia after kerosene & hen feed. Aunt Maude called.

Ground is white. Cold. Boys went to Sunday School. Flood children were over.

Washed & ironed. Vernon got hair cut. Jim went over to Flood’s. Merrill went to lodge. Cow freshened. heifer.

Flood kids were over. Jim ate dinner with Halls across the road. Aunt Maude brought Cheryl down to stay. She has been sick.

Last day of 1953. We took Cheryl up to Uncle Rays. Saw the new year in with them. Played canasta.
