Cloudy & cold. Baked pies, cookies, & doughnuts. Went to Lacona in evening. Pauline, Garmon, Donna, Mom & Dad were here when we got home. Garmon is on 11 day furlough.

Lila’s shower. Made cakes. Arlene went to the shower with us. Had a grand time. Was 23 there. We got over there at 11:00 PM. Wrote to Gloria.

Went to Philadelphia. Had dinner at Uncle Rays. Went to see the farm. Only 2 flat tires on way out. Vernon stayed at Dad’s. Broke my glasses.

Went to city to get my glasses fixed. Got learner’s permit. Left Jimmy at Dads. Rained.

Jimmy sent card to Vernon. The news has been released of the use of the atomic bomb on Japan. Rained.

Got ration for 2 tires. Got canning sugar ration. 40 pounds. Russia has declared war on Japan.

Wrote Mother T. Got my glasses back. Dot was down. Evelyn is sick with asthma. Mowed lawns & washed car.

Have been having hemorrhages all day. Couldn’t get Doctor. Peggy went over home after Vernon. Dot, Arlene, Evelyn & Peggy were here. Sent for tires & tube.

Mr. & Mrs. Hagan were here. Brought out lease. Merrill, Vernon & Jimmy went to Lacona for groceries. Brought me box of candy.

Feeling better today. Have been up around all day. Merrill got leases ready to sent back. Mom, Dad & Don were up in evening.

Edith came down & got me out of bed to go to Adams with Dot. Drove our car. Had breakfast at Aunt M. Started stack. Dot was here.

Went to Adams & up to Moretons. Stopped at Dads but they had gone to fair. Wrote Mother T. & Mom.

Awfully hot. Got order from Spiegel. Vernon’s shoes, shirt, shorts, & socks & Dot’s curtains. Dot is out to Liverpool with Peggy. Had first sweet corn from garden.
