Went to Lacona & Sandy Creek with Dot, Evelyn & Edith. Waxed kitchen floor. Merrill took a couple to Watertown in night. Got $5.00. Oren was here. Truck stopped.

Did ironing. Rained all day. Winston Piper has been injured in France.

Canned 20 quarts pears, 1 tomato, & 4 ketchup & 9 apple jelly. Got card from Arlene. Vernon is sick.

Vernon is still quite sick. Canned mincemeat & baked doughnuts, pie & cookies. Sent letter to Arlene, card to Mom. Dot was here.

Vernon’s birthday (8 years) Had chicken dinner. Made him cake. Dot & Evelyn were here. Got card from Marion Stillman. Oren gave Vernon a pencil.

Vernon went to school today. The folks got telegram today saying Loren had been killed in action on August 28. Went to Ellisburg in evening. Ronnie came home with us. Started filling silo. Got Xmas cards from Watkins man.

Vernon got card from Gloria. Got one from Ronnie yesterday. Ronnie & Vernon picked pop corn. 2 bushel.

Took Ronnie home. Stopped over home & at Hodges coming home. Basil Hanson is in hospital. Hurt with corn binder. Arlene was here.

Got letter from Aunt Mildred. Kids got birthday gift. Sent card to Mother T. & Arlene.

Got announcement card from Beulah. Dot & Evelyn were down. Evelyn is feeling better. Wrote to Marg & Ration Board. Vernon sent card to Aunt Mildred.

Dug 3 bushel potatoes. The Lorraine parsonage caught fire today.

Dot & Evelyn were here. Ward Holly reported killed in action in France, August 28. Same day as Loren.

Got letters from Angie & Aunt Mildred. Heard today that Irene Casler Robbins died Saturday. Funeral today. Jimmy started walking alone. Walked from kitchen to living room through dining room.
